Install Any India Region Locked App From Android Market On Your Imported CDMA Handset
rajanmehta replied to rajanmehta's topic in Android
AFAIK, you'll have to enter Credit Card details in Amazon AppStore before downloading and they might not accept indian credit card. Even if they accept and something goes wrong, you may be short of $19.99. Still give it a try if you want to!- 38 replies

Linaro Android Nearly Doubles Android 4 ICS Performance Source Source Source What do you get when you take stock Android 4.0.4 and double its performance? You get Linaro. Linaro is a build of Android that has many performance enhancements and optimizations, making the OS visibly snappier. In some cases, Linaro manages to double performance over stock Android 4.0, which is impressive since stock Android 4.0 is already fairly snappy over older versions of Android. Linaro is a project to optimize Android on ARM architecture, architecture that carry almost all the terminals that are sold today. This project is carried out from Samsung, IBM and Texas Instruments, among other manufacturers. Its main function is to ensure that Android can do better in those architectures, and so far the results are amazing. In a related report by teknoids, commenting on Linaro, the author states, “Basically, parts of the Linaro code have been submitted to the CM9 gerrit and are currently awaiting approval. Once commited, these tweaks will be added to the main CM9 code, giving all supported devices a drastic increase in performance. The good news doesn't end there, though: Galaxy Nexus owners can already take an unofficial CM9 build with the Linaro bits for a whirl. From what we've read, this build is noticeably faster and more fluid right out of the gate. Awesome. Bernhard Rosenkränzer, an engineer working on Linaro, showcased Linaro speed tests at Linaro Connect Q2.2012 in Hong Kong using two pandaboards, one running stock Android 4.0.4 (AOSP), and the other running the Linaro build of Android 4.0.4. Check out the video of Rosenkränzer describing Linaro and showing the tests

Updated: Pesky SMSs/Calls: Major relief to users from March 21, 2011
rajanmehta replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Delhi High Court Removes 200 SMSes Per Day Limit Source NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court today set aside the cap of 200 SMSes per day sent through a mobile phone SIM for personal communications but upheld the curb on unwanted commercial SMSes saying they infringed the "equally" important right to privacy of "unwilling recipients." "We are, therefore, of the opinion that the impugned provision (of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) insofar as it covers non-UCCs (Unrestricted Unsolicited Commercial Communications) SMS in the present form as it exists, infringes the freedom of speech of the citizens. "And the conditions imposed upon the freedom of speech is not reasonable which would be protected under Article 19 (2) (which deals with reasonable restrictions of freedom of speech) of the Constitution," a bench of Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw said. The bench, however, made a distinction for unsolicited commercial calls and said that the restriction imposed by the Trai on them was valid. "We have already pointed out that the Trai has found that UCC calls and SMSes were interfering with the personal lives of the individuals as often telemarketers would call them up for selling their products. All such calls sere unsolicited, since the receiving party does not want to receive such calls or messages. "These UCC messages disturb the recipients, intrude into their privacy, and impose a cost in terms of the time and efforts. In fact, they infringe the equally importance rights of the unwilling recipients," it said. Partly allowing the petition of Anil Kumar, secretary of NGO Telecom Watchdog, the court, however, granted liberty to Trai "to come out with more appropriate regulations for regulating unsolicited non-UCCs SMSes that could meet the test of reasonableness under the Constitution." -
Please suggest Dual SIM CDMA+GSM handset
rajanmehta replied to anilpatil's topic in Handset Suggestions
Even HTC Desire VC won't be much of a value proposition. Already listed as coming soon at few sites with an outrageous price tag of Rs 25,000 >> http://www.maniacsto...-Desire-VC.html The specs show EVDO in CDMA but no 3G in GSM SIM, Only GPRS, not even Edge. Desire VC is having the same Qualcomm MSM7227A SOC used in GSM Dual SIM android like Karbonn A9 which is selling for around 8-9K! Screen size and rest of the specs are almost similar. So just for ICS, CDMA SIM and HTC brand, they want nearly Rs 17,000 more! What was HTC smoking? -

This is not final standard which is implemented. It's DRAFT regulation. The consultation process with service provider is on. Once they submit their inputs, then final standard will be made. -

Micromax Launches Superfone A80 Infinity Dual SIM Android smartphone For MRP of Rs 8,490 Claims 7 Hours of Talk Time & 288 Hours of Standby Time With 2500mAh Battery Source Micromax has launched yet another Android phone in India, and this time around it is the Superfone A80 Infinity, which runs Android 2.3 and costs Rs 8,490. The A80 Infinity sports a 3.6-inch display and is powered by an 800MHz processor. Additionally, the device features a 5-megapixel camera, a very large 2,500 mAh battery, which is perhaps the reason for the infinity nomenclature, a 0.3 megapixel front facing camera and the Aisha voice recognition software. The device also features Dual-SIM capabilities and supports microSD cards up to 32GB of memory. Micromax claims the battery would provide up to 7 hours of talk time and 288 hours of standby time, which is so far unheard of in Android smartphones under Rs 10,000.

Karbonn Mobiles To Launch Android Jelly Bean Smartphone in August Source The smartphone with 4.5 inch qHD display and 1.2 GHz dual core processor will be priced at just Rs 13,000. Karbonn Smart, a new smartphone brand of Karbonn Mobiles, will launch an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean smartphone by the end of August 2012. Priced attractively at Rs 13,000 the smartphone, called Karbonn Smart A24, will boast a 4.5 inch display with qHD (960 x 540 pixel) resolution. The smartphone that Karbonn also calls Phablet (phone+tablet), will have a 1.2 GHz dual core processor. However, the company refused to disclose the chipset vendor for the phone, which will be a very important factor in how the phone performs. The phone will have all the regular features that are now more or less standard across Android phones including GPS, 3G, WiFi, and a gamut of sensors. However, the attractive part will be the 8 megapixel camera at the back and also a front facing camera. Android Jelly Bean is the latest version of Android and is currently available only with the Google Nexus 7 tablet.
