Will Reliance shut down CDMA voice services?
rajanmehta replied to suvirajshetty's topic in Reliance Communications
I am more worried for that DOT proposal of charging market rate for existing CDMA specrum held for the remaining license period. I guess if this goes through it will become totally economically unviable for Tata and RCOMM to offer CDMA services as they will pay have to pay billions. Are we going to see a planned mercy killing (euthanasia) for CDMA in india? -

Seriously? You don't need that much RAM, i5 processor or dedicated graphic card just to watch movies. Even Pentium Dual Core / Atom with inbuilt graphic should do the job.

Firstly, Android had better voice commands features much earlier. Vlingo was there before Siri. Secondly, any significant natural voice search feature currently depends on wolfram alpha engine including Siri and S Voice both. Apple had no role in developing it. Thirdly, apple is not even claiming that Samsung copied Siri in the court. The patent claim on which apple wants Galaxy S III ban on US is some stupid unified search feature. Apple has become the biggest patent troll now a days. First culprit is the patent office for granting patents for such generic items and then apple for mis using it. Instead of competing on the basis of a better product, apple wants to use this dirty tricks to stop Samsung / competition. Imagine Google wanting to sue microsoft just because one can fire a search query in bing similar to google search and getting some results. How stupid that would be? That's exactly what apple is doing.

HTC Announces Dual SIM Desire V & Desire VC Android ICS phones Source These are HTC's first ever dual SIM based Android smartphones. HTC has announced its first ever dual SIM Android phone for the Asia market, called as Desire V, during the Indonesia Cellular show. The Taiwanese handset manufacturer has also announced the Chinese market version of the dual SIM smartphone which is named as HTC Desire VC. The HTC Desire V comes in GSM+GSM version while the Desire VC is an EVDO+GSM device. The Desire V supports dual-band HSPA+">HSPA on the primary SIM slot, while the secondary one supports EDGE and GPRS connectivity. The Desire VC on the other hand is a CDMA/EVDO phone with a SIM card slot for GSM support. Both the HTC Desire V and Desire VC have identical specifications like 4 inch WVGA resolution, Qualcomm MSM7227A chipsets, 1GHz Cortex-A5 processor, Adreno 200 graphics and 512 MB of RAM. The devices also feature a 5 Megapixel primary autofocus camera with LED flash and VGA front camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, FM radio, 4 GB storage and a micro SD expansion slot. Both the devices feature the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich accented with HTC's latest Sense 4.0 user interface as well. The devices also feature Beats Audio enhancements for superior music quality and sound. HTC is expected to launch the Desire V in the Asian market, probably in India too, early next month and there after it is expected to hit other continents. -
Meet Tactus - The Touchscreen That Pops into Physical Buttons on Demand, Then Flattens Back Source It's been everyone's dream ever since touchscreens got popular in smartphones and tablets in the last few years - to have physical buttons that pop when you have to type or dial a number, then flatten back leaving you with just the touchscreen when they are not needed. It's been a fantasy so far, one reserved for sci-fi movies and concept handsets, where everything goes. Not if you ask Tactus, however - the company has developed a way to replace the top layer of existing touchscreens with a Tactile Layer that incorporates popping buttons, which can morph back into an even surface. The layer doesn't add extra thickness to existing touchscreens, Tactus argues, and the buttons shape, size and layout can be customized for each particular case. The keys are application-controlled and utterly transparent, so when you are finished typing letters and numbers, or killing zombies and racing Porsches, the buttons just sink back into a flat shape. Magical stuff indeed, and one we hope gets perfected for use in our smartphones and tablets as soon as possible. The trademark "Tactile Layer" was already demonstrated at the SID expo the other day on an Android tablet as well. Watch a video explaining the science behind the Tactus magic below.

^ ^ ^ 5 Inch Screen, 1 Ghz Dual Core, Dual SIM, ICS Android 4. All this for less than 12K seems to be cracker of a deal. Spicy Hot Curry will need to be investigated later on.

Apple seeks ban on U.S. Samsung Galaxy S III Source Here's the full text of Apple's motion >> http://www.scribd.co...on-Galaxy-S-III No sooner has the U.S. version of the Samsung Galaxy S III been made available to pre-order than Apple is back in U.S. Court trying to get the highly anticipated unit banned from sales in the States. Apple added the device to its motion to have a preliminary injunction placed on the Samsung GALAXY Nexus. Apple purchased a Samsung Galaxy S III in the U.K. and is claiming that the device uses a data tapping patent owned by Apple and is one the patents that the tech titan is claiming that the HTC devices infringe on. The other patent that Apple claims the Samsung Galaxy S III infringes on has to do with unified search as it relates to Siri. Apple is said to be looking at some other patents including its new slide-to-unlock patent and one that covers autocomplete. The iPhone manufacturer's motion noted that press reports say that 9 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S III have been pre-ordered (a claim, by the way, that came from a Samsung executive), making the phone the "the most extensively preordered piece of consumer electronics in history." By bringing that up, Apple looks like a severely injured party. On Wednesday, Samsung told the court that it was too late for Apple to add the Samsung Galaxy S III to its Samsung GALAXY Nexus motion. The Korean based firm said that if Apple wants an injunction against the Samsung Galaxy S III, it should file a new motion. Apple has asked Samsung to delay launching the device in the States until the court rules on its request for the preliminary injunction. Samsung said in response that Apple's motion would have nothing to do with the launch date of the Samsung Galaxy S III in the States.

+1. Qualcomm S4 Crait SOC is one beast of a chipset. It trashed Tegra 3 Quad Core in some of the benchmarks and is no slouch even compared with Exynos Quad Core. Seriously i don't think few points difference here or there in benchmarks makes any difference to overall usability whereas 2 GB RAM sure does. For CDMA users in India, US versions of S III may turn out to be a better value proposition compared to GSM users. Long live bad ESN..

Reliance Slashes 3G Tariff, Launches 1 GB Data For Rs.98 Only
rajanmehta replied to sougatadc's topic in Data services
^ ^ ^ These plans are for phone too. Primarily for phones as a response to 3G data tariff cuts by all operators. Probably Reliance hasn't updated website so Kanaga might have put the updated dongle tariff link. See, generally the saying goes, "Left hand does not know what the right hand does" In case of Reliance, "The whole body does not know whether it did anything after actually doing it longtime back"!
