Karbonn A9 Dual SIM Android With 1 Ghz Processor
rajanmehta replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other handsets
Contacted Karbonn head office for finding out the chipset and processor make. I was told that the product team will call back. A lady did call back and confirmed 3G and 1GB Storage. Also confirmed it has GPU but when i asked whether it has MTK 6575 chipset and the specific processor model, she was not sure about that. She promised a call back within 10 minutes with the correct info. That was about 12 hours back. -

Please suggest a CDMA handset upto Rs.5000
rajanmehta replied to ani_rocks's topic in Handset Suggestions
If you are talking MTS network, the answer is no for any imported handset in your budget of Rs 5,000 because AFAIK nobody does imported handset MEID registration in Kolkata Circle for MTS. Change to Reliance Network and then Palm Pixi will fit in your budget as well as the following options. Increase your budget and you can have this HTC EVO for Reliance at Rs 8,300 >> http://www.rimweb.in...-2/#entry263032 If i remember correctly our forum admin Arun also has HTC Incredible for Reliance with him around Rs 8,000. Going by the history of handset you have used / proposing to use, the difference between those and the two HTC handsets above will be like travelling in a State Transport Bus Versus Private Air Conditioned Volvo Sleeper. -
Update Verizon Fascinate i500 to Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jellybean
rajanmehta replied to joshm's topic in Samsung
Try changing SPC to 000000 through QPST Software. In that check whether SPC Change allowed box is enabled. Warning: One wrong step in QPST and it may mess up your other service programming completely and render the phone unusable for service temporary by messing up other parameters. You should do it only if you know what you are doing and able to recover from that. You have been warned. -
Update Verizon Fascinate i500 to Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jellybean
rajanmehta replied to joshm's topic in Samsung
Those who are facing odin stuck at modem.bin or other flashing problems for Reliance Version of i500, try the following method and report if it's successful. Keep any Anti Virus product you have on your PC disabled while you do anything in CDMA Workshop or ODIN. Try using Windows XP instead of Windows 7. (32 Bit version preferable for either) Always run CDMA Workshop or ODIN as administrator user in windows. Find out original SPC of your Reliance i500 as mentioned in post 309. Once you do that and unlock the phone in CDMA Workshop by sending it, then again send SPC as 000000 and write. Then from CDMA Workshop, reset the phone. It should reboot. From CDMA Workshop check if it is now unlocking the phone by sending SPC as 000000. Remove battery and micro SD card from fascinate before flashing. Keep it removed. Never mind, it will take power from USB cable later. Open ODIN as administrator user. Keep whatever key combination on fascinate PRESSED which you use for putting it in Download Mode. While doing that, NOW connect the USB Cable to phone and PC. You should get download mode icon on Fascinate and ODIN should recognize phone on the given port. (If possible use any other USB data cable from Nokia or blackberry. Samsung OEM cables which come with phone many times create problems. Still if you don't have another one handy, try once with the original cable and above process.) Now do whatever process you need to do in ODIN. While doing so remember Shree SiddhiVinayak DADA or whichever GOD you believe in. -

Please suggest GSM handset with Good Voice Recorder and Multiple Speakers
rajanmehta replied to pasumark's topic in Handset Suggestions
You can consider buying a dedicated voice recorder from good brand. I have heard that some of them have more than 1,000 Hour recording capacity. That's an option if you don't find any appropriate phone. -
TRAI TV Advertisement Regulation 2012 - Will this make our TV viewing experience better?
rajanmehta posted a topic in Indian Telecom / General News
TRAI TV Advertisement Regulation 2012 - Will This Make Our TV Viewing Experience Better? Finally TRAI has issued Standards of Quality of Serice ( Duration of Advertisements in TV Channels ) Regulations, 2012. We generally berate TRAI for not doing anything but these are really good, common sense regulations with TV Viewer in mind. Duration of advertisements in TV channels. No broadcaster shall carry in its broadcast of a programme, advertisements exceeding twelve minutes in a clock hour and any shortfall of advertisement duration in any clock hour shall not be carried over. The advertisements in the clock hour shall include all types of advertisements including advertisements promoting the channel(s) of the broadcaster. Explanation: The clock hour shall commence from 00.00 of the hour and end at 00.60 of that hour (example: 14.00 to 15.00 hours). In case of live broadcast of a sporting event, the advertisements shall be carried only during the breaks in the sporting action. The time gap between end of one advertisement session and the commencement of next advertisement session shall not be less than fifteen minutes. Provided that in case of broadcast of a film or movie the time gap between end of one advertisement session and the commencement of the next advertisement session shall not be less than thirty minutes. Provided further that nothing contained in this sub-regulation shall apply in case of live broadcast of a sporting event. Every broadcaster shall ensure that the advertisements carried in its channels are only full-screen advertisements and there shall be no part-screen or drop-down advertisement. Every broadcaster shall ensure that the audio level of the advertisements carried in its channel shall not be higher than the audio level of the programs being broadcast in that channel. But Broadcasters it seems are in no mood to follow the above. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II
rajanmehta replied to rajanmehta's topic in Android
As many prepaid users will tell you, getting frequent text messages about your remaining balance can be annoying. Some services even text you after every call and data usage. While some find this helpful, others find it unbearable. For people having these kind of issues, there is a nice simple fix for you. XDA Forum Member talkative has released Quiet Balance that will, as the name implies, quiet those remaining balance texts. IMPORTANT - You MUST restart your phone after installing the app. Also, please launch and configure the app to start blocking messages. This app selectively blocks balance update messages that carriers send after each call, typically on prepaid plans. These balance update messages show as annoying popups after end of each call. Technically, these balance update messages are USSD messages, and cannot be filtered by SMS blockers. Hence, this app specializes in blocking USSD messages. Those who are importing handsets and any other lithium battery powered products from US through Ebay.com OR other websites directly into India address and if your shipper is USPS, please don't order. Your order may get stuck in US itself as USPS has banned international shipping of smartphones / lithium battery powered products starting Thursday 17th May 2012. This restriction should not apply as per my interpretation if you are buying through Shop And Ship and other such services and the delivery is meant for your Local US address although USPS is saying it's applicable to, USPS bans international shipping of smartphones starting Thursday >> http://www.phonearen...hursday_id30157 USPS DMM Revision: Mailings of Lithium Batteries >> http://about.usps.co...ml/updt_004.htm -
Please suggest between Samsung Ace Duos and Samsung i500 (Reliance)
rajanmehta replied to mroy's topic in Handset Suggestions
It's not clear from the topic OP's post, Whether Dual SIM is a must? What's the max budget? Whether imported handsets will do? BTW, there is nothing like jailbreaking for android handsets, the term applies for iPhone. If you do decide to buy any imported android handset from good sellers here, you don't need to do anything except transferring the Reliance CDMA number by either visiting Webworld OR using HCC Cards. Both are easy process. Between Samsung Ace Duos and i500 (Which is Reliance's name for Samsung Fascinate from Verizon, Sold here on Forum), i500 is much better. Officially Reliance i500 is having update upto Android 2.2 Froyo but you can always update it to Gingerbread OR even ICS by following steps given in this topic >> http://www.rimweb.in...255#entry262618 It's mentioned somewhere on the forum that Reliance is liquidating remaining stock of i500 at Rs 12,500. If you must need a Dual SIM, then Motorola XT 800 is better. AFAIK there is Froyo update for that. Follow this topic for more info >> http://www.rimweb.in...0/page__st__120 -
Tutorial: Flashing Your CDMA Handset After MEID/ESN Registration
rajanmehta replied to Sadikk's topic in Tutorial and Guides
A-KEY means Authentication Key which is registered in Reliance CDMA Network for your handset. The same is also programmed on your handset. Once both matches during network handshake, your handset is allowed by the system to use the network. -
USB SD Card Mount and tether is not working. Yes flash it, otherwise it goes into constant bootloop upon reaching display screen after first boot. 1. I played 1080P Youtube Video and did not notice any lag whatsoever with MeanROM ICS. 2. No idea, can't say but haven't faced such issue till now. 3. Yes it is not working. 4. Not tried Sygic on this. If you mean flashing boot.img through fastboot by connecting to PC and terminal fastboot command, it's not necessary NOW when you use 4ext Touch Recovery for the ROM in 1st Post. Even flashing boot.img separately is not needed. 4ext Touch recovery takes care of that without any PC connection and manual fastboot command.
