MEIZU Announces The World’s First Smartphone With The Quad-Core Exynos A9 CPU Source HONG KONG – April 16, 2012 – MEIZU today announces the brand new MEIZU MX Quad-core smartphone to be available in June this year. Among many surprises, the MEIZU MX Quad-core is the first smartphone in the world to use the brand new and powerful Exynos A9 quad-core processor. The MX Quad-core uses a power efficient quad-core Exynos A9 CPU with industry-leading 32 nm HKMG technology which has been optimized to reduce CPU power consumption by up to 20%. In addition, it will last even longer with a new 1700mAh battery. With its state-of-the art hardware, the MEIZU MX Quad-core is better in every way than its predecessor. The MEIZU MX Quad-core CPU is 60% faster, and GPU 50% faster compared to the previous MX. Whether it is browsing through menus, playing the latest games, or watching 1080p video, the MX Quad-core easily beats dual-core devices. MX Quad-core comes with a vivid 292 PPI high definition ASV display. With no visible pixels on the screen, it provides the user with the ideal smartphone viewing experience. On the back side, the MX Quad-core has an 8 megapixel BSI camera with an f/2.2 lens aperture, capable of taking great photos even in low light conditions. The MX Quad-core will come with MEIZU’s unique Flyme OS based on Android 4.0, providing users with beauty, simplicity and buttery smooth performance at every interaction. The MEIZU MX Quad-core will be available in MEIZU’s 400 retail stores during June at ¥2999/3999 CNY and $3099/4099 HKD for capacities 32GB and 64GB in Mainland China and Hong Kong, respectively. With MX Quad-core, the company also releases MX back covers in five colors in addition to the original white, allowing users to experience the MX on their own terms. Coinciding with the announcement of MEIZU MX Quad-core, the MEIZU MX will have its price adjusted to ¥2399 CNY and $2599 HKD in Mainland China and Hong Kong respectively. The reduced price for the MEIZU MX is effective as of April 16, 2012.
  9. Let X, Y OR Z phone be called the First to support Indian Languages, i have no issues with that. Infact Thanks Sougataji for highlighting Galaxy Ace Duos and Y support for indian languages. I think HTC Explorer is also having built in support for some indian languages. But my main grouse is with Google being so pathetic in having built in support for major indian languages in Android. By built in support i mean you just select the language in options and the entire phone interface, all apps and character input should support that particular language. Even some good old Nokias have that. The population speaking, following each major Indian Language like Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi and many others would easily cross the numbers of many countries entire population. You will see support for some tiny language spoken in a part of the world whose population will be less than a single state of India but they ignore indian languages altogether. Now in ICS, there is native support for some indian languages but again not much. With less than 5% of total android devices having ICS and a person using a 25-30K ICS phone may not use indian languages altogether. I expected much better from Android being open source and linux based in this regard but it's not to be.

  18. Airtel Launches 4G LTE Broadband

Why compare Devil with Deep Blue Sea? They all want us to believe and perpetrate this 'myth". Don't they? Airtel won the Kolkata 4G broadband auction at a cost of Rs 523.20 Crore. Add to this the LTE Capital Equipment Cost for covering the whole city wirelessly. Now can they connect whole of Kolkata at a lesser capital cost if they would connect the city through wireline like on ADSL? Forget capital cost of having the nodes at every 3-4 kms and other infrastructure, just laying the fiber per km costs something in the range of 80 Lac to 1 Crore in a city like Mumbai. The municipalities charge astronomical sums for digging up the roads which needs to be relaid again + the corruption cost + Time delays involved in getting the permissions itself. Take the example of Reliance. They won 22 circle all india wireless license for Rs 12,850 Crore. Add another 5,000-6,000 Crore Capital cost figure for whole of india LTE wireless Coverage which is floating around. Could Reliance have ever wired up the whole of india through wireline at a lesser capital cost than that? We should keep in mind that though in the traditional sense, wireless broadband can't replace wireline, but with LTE here in India all the BWA winners are precisely trying to do that. Replace Wireline with Wireless and increase penetration. It is ultimately costing them less in the long term. Otherwise in this many years they all would have covered large parts of the country with blanket wireline connectivity which they have not. Even in a metro like Mumbai, wireline ISP's like Reliance, Airtel are available only at a few places. So they can't have their cake and eat it too. Customer resistance with such atrocious plans will make them realise the folly ultimately. Sprint has already announced that their LTE Data plans will be Unlimited without any FUP Cap. Besides America is a terribly costly telecom market. If Operator's in India will follow that model, they are doomed for failure. 3G pricing has already proven that. They are the last hope. But they have already taken ex. airhell guys on board. Hoping for a miracle.
