Google’s Response To Siri is Codenamed Majel, Could Be Released Partly By End of Year Source Taylor Wimberly. I wrote about Google’s response to Apple’s Siri voice assistant several months ago and over the last couple weeks I received further details about the secret project. For starters it is codenamed Majel, which comes from Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, better known as the voice of the Federation Computer from Star Trek. Majel is an evolution of Google’s Voice Actions that is currently available on most Android phones with the addition of natural language processing. Where Voice Actions required you to issue specific commands like “send text to…” or “navigate to…”, Majel will allow you to perform actions in your natural language similar to how Siri functions. Speaking of actions, it sounds like only Google search queries will be included with the initial release, that could come as soon as this year. I say this year because I’ve heard that engineers at Google X are working around the clock on finishing the first release and the NYTimes previously reported that one product would be released by Google X this year. December if nearly half over, so a January or February release might be more realistic. Other more advanced features like controlling phone actions and applications with natural language commands are expected to come later. Google’s Matias Duarte had previously given hints about the future of Android’s voice actions in an interview with Slashgear. Matias said, “Our approach is more like Star Trek, right, starship Enterprise; every piece of computing surface, everything is voice-aware. It’s not that there’s a personality, it doesn’t have a name, it’s just Computer.” I had previously speculated that Google’s approach might actually include some kind of animated avatar, but it appears I was way off on that one. However, we still expect greatly enhanced computer voices that sound more human and fluid, thanks to Google’s acquisition of Phonetic Arts, which occurred at the tail end of 2010. Hopefully more concrete details will leak out soon. People smarter than I will read this article and I’m sure they will be able to dig up additional iformation. In the mean time, enjoy Data talking with Computer in the video below.

Google Project Majel, Android Repsonse To Apple Siri?
rajanmehta replied to rajanmehta's topic in Android
Problem is not with comparison. Issue is with Fanboyism. Most of the time followers of either OS just attack another without much of an informed idea about what the other OS actually is. (Myself included in that category) I have come across this excellent piece of info which gives detailed idea about evolution of both iOS and Android. Must read for informed choices and debate. iOS: A visual history >> http://www.theverge....ory-iphone-ipad Android: A visual history >> http://www.theverge....android-history- 15 replies

Verizon Galaxy Nexus Extended battery -- Curvy in All The Right Places Source On the left, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. On the right, also the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Only, one of these phones has Verizon's 2100 mAh extended battery in it, and the other has the standard 1850 mAh battery that comes with the phone. A few quick thoughts on it: The extended battery comes with a new battery door, which looks nearly identical to the stock door. Same logos and all. You gain just a tad of thickness with the extended battery. It's not quite one of those stock-size extended batteries, but neither does it have a huge humpback. In fact, we rather like the feel of the phone with the extended battery in place. Gives it more of a rounded feel, kind of like the Samsung Galaxy S II Sprint Epic 4G Touch, but a tad bigger. You can not use the Verizon extended battery in the GSM Galaxy Nexus. The phone fits in that Navigation Dock just fine with the extended battery. Cases may vary by manufacturer. Video reveals which phone in the picture above has the extended battery.

Thodasa Rumani Ho Jaye is one of my personal favourite. But i wonder why we call those "Art Movies"? Isn't Movie making itself one of the fine arts? Any good movie can be called "Art Movie". Secondly i am not too sure about how much movies affect the society? It's generally the other way round. They reflect what happens in society. If they had such a powerful influence, How much improvement came in medical field after Munnabhai or in Education after 3 Idiots?

What type of art movies would that be? Enlighten us..

Google Project Majel, Android Repsonse To Apple Siri?
rajanmehta replied to rajanmehta's topic in Android
More info on Google’s Majel, Moving a Little Faster Towards That Star Trek Future Source Taylor Wimberly Now some more tips are starting to come in. We compared Majel to Apple’s Siri voice assistant because that’s how it was described to us, but the project could be much larger than we initially imagined. Read on for new details and some interesting quotes from Google employees. First we had a tip from “Ted,” who described his experience with an early release of Majel on an Android tablet. Even though this tip was sent from an anonymous IP, we believe it to be accurate since it matched an earlier description we received. As you can see, the first release of Majel might be rather simple and focus solely on natural language questions with answers from Google Search. Next up we have some comments posted to Reddit from an ex-employee of Google who claims to have worked at the secret Google X Lab. This sounds more along the lines of the shoot-for-the-stars ideas that the NYTimes described when they wrote about Google X. Obviously, Google has been working on artificial intelligence for many years. Moving along, we return to some comments from Mike Cohen, Google’s Manager of Speech Technology and co-founder of Nuance Communications (the company that powers some of the technology behind Siri). Keeping with the Star Trek theme, we have more comments from Google’s Amit Singhal found in The Evolution of search video posted in November. Finally, we have the comments of Matias Duarte, the computer-interface designer and user-experience lead for Android, from an interview with The Daily Beast.- 15 replies

Check these for version 1.3B >> http://www.ebay.in/s...-All-Categories And these for version 1.4 >> http://www.ebay.in/s...d=p3286.c0.m359 Select any good one from reputed sellers. Would suggest to go for latest standard version 1.4 as it supports 3D over HDMI , Ethernet channel, Audio return channel (ARC)and 4K × 2K resolution. Secondly why these cheap cables from Ebay and not expensive branded ones costing upwards of Rs 1,500 + like these ones >> http://www.ebay.in/s...-All-Categories Because there is a lot of marketing hype involved in expensive HDMI cable business. They aren't as many times good as their prices are with respect to the actual picture quality, technical parameters. Forget that, not even twice good. Of course build quality, visually and actually may be better in case of branded ones. Slaying the Cable monster: Why HDMI brands Don't matter >> http://www.pcmag.com...,2385346,00.asp Personally i have used both: Cheaper ones from good source and the expensive branded ones and come to a conclusion that the expensive ones really are no justification for the asking price.- 6,376 replies

Request to Admin / Mods.. Can you please modify the topic title a little bit.. Instead of "Newbies", "New Members" I have observed that somehow newbies word most of the time conveys a negative, rundown conotation in the online world. While at RIMweb we are warmly welcoming of everyone.

Have a look at this post >> http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__243489 Replace all the Reliance parameters mentioned there with Sprint's parameters in the handset and Flash Sprint PRL. For Sprint's Parameters, google search may help. Then once the handset is registered in Sprint's Systems, it should be a cakewalk because in most US CDMA networks parameters like EVDO Data profile are autotatically OTAFED when you activate / update your profile. It does not need to be manually programmed.

^ ^ ^ It's similar to Reliance. CC never knows but RIMweb always has the right information in advance. Think positive. We are even ahead of Google sometimes in updating the right information.

Chinese handset maker, Huawei will make available its upcoming android smartphone, Honor, with the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system in next two months for Indian customers. Thus it will become the first smartphone, other than the Google Nexus, to feature the latest Android operating system. Huawei had announced the smartphone in September this year. During its announcement it was expected to come with Android 2.3 gingerbread. The smartphone will feature a big 4 inch high-definition (HD) capacitive touchscreen. It has also houses a mammoth 1,900 mAh battery, and according to the company it gives a three day back up to the phone, which address one of the biggest concerns in a smartphone. With a 1.4 GHz processor, an 8 megapixel HDR[2] enabled camera and a 2 megapixel front facing camera, Huawei Honor is indeed a very powerful device and is also sleek with 10.9 mm thin body and weighs just 140g. Honor comes with an exclusive Huawei user interface which is easier to customise and manage, as well as a dynamic weather widget. Honor also features a Gyroscope which enables a better gaming experience. The smartphone is DLNA-certified which ensures interoperability with other DLNA-certified devices such as digital cameras, game consoles and TVs. -
