MNP: Last Nail In The Coffin For CDMA?
rajanmehta replied to Arun's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
You're one tough customer to please. If majority of CDMA customers were even 1/10th as demanding, all indian CDMA operators would have either closed shop by now OR would be ranking as among the best networks globally. But they all know one thing very well.. Majority of the indian customers do not want to actually pay for world class services but wants one. Other things being equal.. Most customers go for the cheapest option.. And then keep on complaining.. "If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys" is applicable in most things in life. -
Suggest Between Samsung Nexus S And HTC EVO 4G
rajanmehta replied to yogeshpote's topic in Handset Suggestions
There won't be much difference in EVDO data performance between Nexus S and Evo 4G. EVDO speed is dependent on network signal strength, congestion in nearest tower, time of the day / night (peak - non peak hours) in the area in which you are going to use it. Max speed if all the factors mentioned are excellent will be around 2Mbps. However in real life, you don't get that much and can expect between 500Kbps to 1Mbps during most of the day time and higher speeds during late nights. -
MNP: Last Nail In The Coffin For CDMA?
rajanmehta replied to Arun's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Actually very few hundred / thousand of the millions of R-CDMA customers are aware of the fantastic imported CDMA handsets at great prices we have available here on forum. Same for MTS-Tata. So they see only those stupid 1000 buck handsets and naturally are migrating to GSM in droves, which is a great tragedy actually. Some out of the box thinking is required in co-ordination with Reliance to address this issue and how imported handsets can reach a larger CDMA customer base easily. They may not launch such handsets directly but if some mechanism can be introduced to make it available to a larger customer base. -
Skoda after sales service horror stories and robbery for part cost is legendary in India. Probably would compensate for half the price of Skoda Superb compared to Merc.. Not to mention the poor resale value. In comparison, New Toyota Corolla Altis option would be as good as "Can buy safely with your eyes closed"

Kindle Fire costs $210 To Make, $199 To Buy, Where is Amazon’s Profit? Source The most important question that remained unanswered till now was the cost of manufacturing of Kindle Fire tablet. Companies never reveal such details, but research companies like iSuppli estimate the spending and in this case according to the preliminary figure, Kindle Fire’s bill of materials (BOM) cost at $191.65. With the addition of manufacturing expenses, the total cost to produce the Kindle Fire rises to $209.63. So, with a spending of around $210, how will Amazon make money when it is going to sell Kindle Fire for just $199. The initial profit or even recovering the cost of manufacturing will come directly from the sale of digital content – e-books, videos, apps and music. Company will also look to sell its Prime membership to its users by first giving a free taste of it along with Fire and then charging $79 of a year’s worth. According to IHS, the expected sales of digital contents will give Amazon a marginal profit of just $10, but the real money is going to come from the sale of physical goods. This business model is unique to Amazon. No other tablet brand or e-book reader operates such a broad retail service, which generated $34 billion in revenue in 2010. Conversely no other retailer can offer a tablet specifically designed to promote sales of its goods. It is similar to the razor-blade model followed by Gillette that sells razors at a loss and makes up the difference from profitable sales of blades later, explained IHS iSuppli Analyst Wayne Lam to Reuters. But, this is a lot if Amazon is looking to make a profit in these lines and these are some really big expectations as there is no other company that has been able to sell more than the digital content with the help of tablets. Amazon has a big road in front of it and it has what is needed to change the scenario.

Even otherwise without the discount offer part and for normal transactions, i would suggest all to pay shipping + customs through cash only to delivery boy and not online through Credit Card. I am not too sure whether they are using a proper third party secure payment gateway for online CC payments. It's risky to let them store your credit card numbers / details in their system. -

Received a clarification from SNS regarding celebration offer -
Went to watch "Mausam" yesterday night in a good multiplex.. Only 2 of us were there in the entire auditorium - Myself and Wifey So enjoyed those 3+ hours in absolute privacy in a public place.. In recliner seats.. Though we had normal seat tickets.. Who cared for "Mausam" as a movie.. We had our moments.. The attendant only seemed too happy not to bother us.. Finally.. this is the height of unexpected bonanza.. Even our original tickets were FREE.. (I won a yearly ticket package last year from Mcdonalds / Bookmyshow..)
