  6. Succeeded in Getting A TRUE Unlimited Broadband Plan From Airtel - Goodbye FUP Took Some Real Efforts Till Nodal Officer Level Airtel has become one of the most hated Broadband Service Provider (Atleast among the geeks & heavy downloaders) after they introduced the concept of FUP (Fair Usage Practice) in Unlimited Broadband Internet Plans. Have been using Airtel ADSL broadband since a long time but this FUP has been a pain in you know where... Despite being on a plan termed as UNLIMITED & paying for it, you either drop down to measly 256 kbps once you hit FUP OR pay extra for downloads... And Airtel has been continuously droping FUP limits to ridiculously low levels. So fed up of this FUP nonsense, decided to junk Airtel if they don't give me a TRULY unlimited broadband plan. Called them up & asked for dis-connecting my line..... The Fun begins now.... But it was hard work, damn irritating to get results with Airtel's unbelievably thick skinned customer care. At every stage, they created imaginary road blocks. I suppose it is designed purposely to put off people trying beyond a point. After all many call it quits but yours truly decided right in the beginning.... Either i Win or Airtel lose me as a Customer... Finally succeeded in getting the following ADSL Broadband Plan (It's a Hidden Retention Plan...) Airtel FREEDOM Plan - Rs 1,699 Rental Per Month 2Mbps Speed With 100 GB FUP 1Mbps Speed After reaching FUP (No Extra Charges, Unlimited Download) Rs 100 Free Calling Value for Both Local & STD To not make the post very long, i have put the entire STORY in the attached PDF File.... Download...Worth Reading... And Wish it Helps You TOO Getting A True Unlimited Plan From Airtel.. Getting An Unlimited Broadband Plan From Airtel.pdf

  9. After trumpeting about its sales of over a million Google Android Froyo laden LG Optimus One P500, the company is reportedly working on high-end smartphone. Berryjuice, a member of Phandroid forums posted about possessing two upcoming LG Star handsets running Android 2.2 Froyo and houses Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC processor. He also posted images of the LG Star P990 running Froyo with a custom interface. LG Star P660 would be a totally different from the other high-end handset in the star family. With Tegra 2 running on it, the handset outperformed even Nexus One, with Froyo scoring 1759 in the Quadrant benchmark. Berryjuice hasn't really figured out the details of the handset, but here's what he could confirm. 4-inch Capacitive touchscreen offering 480x800 pixel resolution Dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 Chip inside 8 megapixel camera with LED Flash and capable of 1080p HD video recording Out of the box DivX playback HDMI Port In terms of benchmarks and other features this smartphone easily surpasses Samsung Galaxy S. May be it would be a worthy competitor to the rumored Nexus S smartphone. Techtree
  10. LG Optimus 2X Android With Tegra 2 Processor

@Anton You still using Optimus 2X? Worth buying? Are those re-booting, battery dying, lock ups issues mentioned by some users in online forums constant occurences or just over reactions from random isolated events? What's your take as an actual user?
  11. LG Optimus One P500

Two months ago, LG launched two Froyo-running smartphones - the LG Optimus One and the Optimus Chic but no word on their Indian launch date or pricing. However, the recent press invite we received from LG for its Optimus Series launch hints that at least one of the upcoming devices could be the LG Optimus One, a mid-range android phone running on Froyo ( Android 2.2). With this launch the LG Optimus One will be the first Froyo running Android device in the Indian market. There are currently around 11 mid-range Android phones in the Indian market now, and apart from the look and the up-to-date Android OS, there is nothing much different on the LG Optimus One to make it stand out in the mid-range crowd. It has a 3.2-inch HVGA ( 320 x 480) capacitive touchscreen with 256k color support, 3.15MP camera, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, Wi-Fi (b/g) and GPS with A-GPS support. The phone is powered by a 600MHz processor, 170MB of internal memory and up to 32GB of microSD card support. For media playback, there is a DivX/Xvid playback apart form usual MP4 and H.264 formats. The phone is powered by Li-Ion 1500mAh battery. The expected price for the LG Optimus One is around Rs.13k which falls in line with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 and recently launched Dell's range of Android phones, the Dell XCD28 and XCD35. PcWorld

  19. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

If anyone is considering a diesel engine today just for the fuel cost saving part, there should be a serious rethink now due to.. Firstly whether it really makes sense to pay extra based on Dhirajbhai's simple formula. If it's going to take 5 years to recover extra cost, by that time, you may be already in for buying a new car. Secondly and more seriously, there are growing indications that diesel subsidy may not remain for very long atleast for private cars. Govt is considering a mechanism to charge private cars market price for diesel. This looks more believable going by the continuous increases in coocking gas prices and slow but sure abolition of subsidy. So practically don't attach such a critical value to diesel engine fuel saving in your buying decision. Other factors should be given more weightage and if diesel engine is part of the package, so be it. If other fuel options like CNG or LPG is considered, it's best to go for a model with manufacturer/factory fitted kits than aftermarket to avoid warranty/compatibility/tune up hassles and lower resale value.

For your budget of 4.5 Lacs, Chevrolet Beat is a good option. Comes in Petrol, Diesel and there is also a factory fitted LPG variant which won't comppromise much on driving pleasure compared to CNG. Looks, space, peppy engine, features, 3 year 1,00,000 km warranty. Great overall package and one of the top contender in this budget range currently.
  24. Water Purifier System

Hiteshbhai this may be a low technology solution but aren't those Bisleri 20 Litre Cans available in your area. They generally cost Rs 50-60 and the dispenser deposit should be around Rs 250. I suggest you to consider this because it saves you the capital cost now in investing a storage water purifier which may become redundant later when you shift into a house with running tap water. You can buy a necessary model then. Can't confirm on quality of water in this though. Experts can comment.
