Yahoo messenger prevensions!!!!!
This is not a problem solving guide. Instead this thread is dedicated to stopping problems before they happen in regards to Yahoo Messenger.
1. Problem: Messenger archive gets deleted accidentally.
Preventatitve Measure:
Every week copy your messenger archive from
C:\program files\yahoo!\messenger\profiles\IDNAME\Archive
to another location: say C:\programfiles\yahoo!\backup
2. Problem: Constantly getting booted off messenger by someone else/getting stalked by someone.
Preventatitve Measure: Ignore anyone not on friends list.
3. Problem: Unable to recover a deleted ID.
Preventatitve Measure: NEVER delete a main ID, instead let it fall into disuse, while making sure to sign in once every 90 days so that it remains active. That way a year down the line, when you want that ID back again, its still yours.
4. Problem: Password gets stolen by someone.
Preventatitve Measure: Make sure no one knows your password. Make sure its a mixture of numbers and letters, and whatever you do, DO NOT use your name/birthday or something like that which is easy to guess. Moreover, do not use common names.
The password should be a jumble of letters and numbers that do not spell out anything in particular, especially not a name.
For example, if your name is Jonathon, a simple but relatively easy way of creating a password is as follows:
i) Increase every other letter by 1 and decrease the remaining ones by 1.
In other words,
J--->K (Up one letter)
O---->N (down one letter)
N--->O (Up one letter)
A---->Z (down one letter)
T--->U (up one letter)
H--->G (down one letter)
O---->P (up one letter)
N--->M (down one letter)
