  1. ^^ I don't think they will close down cdma business, may be they will focus on gsm acquisitions more. cdma will focus on data alone. btw i'm shifting my 20+ rcom cdma connections to tata cdma. rcom customer service has become pathetic these days. tata cdma got better sme plans when compared to rcom. moreover cug between docomo & fwt is possible now after the merger.

  7. For a dozen senior executives of Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL), it was Monday blues like no other: they lost their jobs. Three others have been put on notice and are expected to be shunted out. The circle operating officers of the company’s CDMA — or code division multiple access — division asked to leave were stationed across telecom circles in North, South and East India. According to a source familiar with the development, operational inefficiency was cited as the reason for the sacking. A Tata Tele spokesperson did not respond to detailed queries from DNA. An email sent to N Srinath, chief executive, did not elicit a response either. CDMA and global system for mobile communications or GSM are the two technology standards used by mobile operators for offering cellular telephony services. Most operators in India as well as other parts of the world use GSM standard. TTSL, originally a CDMA operator (Tata Indicom) which later switched to GSM (Tata Docomo), has a structure where the entire operations of a telecom circle is headed by a circle operating officer. India has 23 telecom circles in all. Of the 15 executives, one source said, there is a possibility of three being moved to newer assignments and retained within the organisation, but the other dozen have been asked to leave with immediate effect and have been offered three to eight months’ salary as severance package depending on seniority. The move is believed to be part of Tata Tele’s efforts to better align its CDMA operations with the larger and more popular GSM operations to reduce operational redundancy and improve cost structures. From owning more than a quarter of India’s overall subscriber base, CDMA users have shrunk to about 15% now. After the introduction of mobile number portability nearly six months back, there has been an acceleration in the exodus of CDMA users who complain about lack of choice when it comes to handsets supporting the technology. According to another source, Tata Tele has also made some high-level shuffles in the management team on Monday, which included the elevation of Vineet Bhatia, who currently heads the Delhi circle, with additional responsibility as regional head for northern India. It wasn’t immediately clear what new role Bhatia would have. Further operational rationalisation is expected in the CDMA operations as Tata Tele focuses more on its GSM operations, the source said. 9. Aircell is already embroiled in 2G controversy. Read this, "Indian investigators are currently probing allegations that a former telecom minister forced the founder of Aircel to sell out to Malaysia's Maxis Communications in 2006."
  10. Just 2 days back I got the ack. from IndiaPost, but paypal closed the case before that. So i request others to start pestering IndiaPost, if your cant track the consignment number. Hope others will be getting back their refunds as paypal knows clearly that the seller is a fraudster.
  11. Folks, Finally I got refund from paypal (fake chinese hard disk case) Date Description Amount 12/05/2011 PAYPAL *XUANWUQINGZ4029357733SG 1,676.69 CR So what I did, based on my previous experience I filed a case of not receiving the item. Paypal way of working is quite murky, previously I got a bluetooth from US which was not working. I sent it back to the seller via IndiaPost(these people belong to a different era). I sent the tracking number, even I got a confirmation from IndiaPost stating that item has been delivered. Inspite of everthing they has closed the case in favour of seller and I lost Rs.2500+. So this time as referred the case as item not received and got the refund. So what happened with Indiapost, The tracking no. they are providing often doesnt works. Finally after 45 days and lots of fighting, they gave me a letter stating that the consignment has been delivered. But not an acknowledgement signed by the seller. They are telling the letter is legally valid in India.
  12. I too have the same plan. In my personal experience (using airtel broadband for almost 5 years) Airtel broadband Service is better than others(Reliance, BSNL). The other trick to hoodwink FUP is, go for a plan change once your reach FUP limit. But it's a cumbersome process every month.
  13. Yes, India Post is economical will cost you around Rs.150, but getting ack. will take a long time.
  14. ^^^ Thanks. After all my efforts to sort out issues with RCom exhausted(including appellate authority), finally posted on PGP portal. Let's see what happens. RCom service has gone bad to worse these days.

  21. "But the truth is that the media is able to take on the Government because the Government has become a minor advertiser. The new governments of our times are giant corporations and they very efficiently control all media. The most outrageous aspect of journalism is its very revenue model—advertisements. In this whole media game, its consumers, we the people, are not fully excused. Journalism is expensive and if people really want good journalism, they should be willing to spend on content. Otherwise you get what you paid for." Manu Joseph became a journalist because he didn’t have to crack any objective-type entrance exam to be one. His first novel, Serious Men, has won The Hindu Best Fiction Award 2010. He is the editor of Open.
