  4. Motorola has announced a new industrial PDA phone CPC VC6096, which relies on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. Scrap that, it’s not a phone even though it does support GSM and even HSDPA — this “handset” weighs 2.2 kilos! That’s 4.85 pounds! Compared to VC6096, the HTC Advantage is a pocketable baby. However, there’s a reason for all the bulkiness. The device is designed to be used as an in-vehicle/fixed mount mobile computer. It has a full QWERTY keyboard, 6.5-inch VGA (640×480 pixels) touchscreen, enough memory (128 MB SDRAM/256 MB Flash), solid processing power (XScale PXA270 624 MHz), built-in SiRF Star III GPS receiver, WiFi connectivity support and a whole lot more. The key selling point, though, is the “increased protection to external shocks.” To ensure the VC6096 keeps working all the time, Motorola made sure virtually all possible protection-related acronyms are on board — including IP64, MIL-STD 810E, Method 514.4, Ground Mobile (VIII), MIL-STD 810E 516.4, MIL-STD-810E, 516.5 Proc VI, MIL-STD 810F, MIL-STD 810E, Method 505.3. I can only hope something of all those protection acronyms actually mean something . If not, keep LET GO OFF THIS news source jampblog

@ prakash yes if the service center flashes it ,it will b with the indian version and reliance wont work @saurav bro what i m thinkin is that in such cases when the phone is bricked the phone would never boot up properly so there is no way of knowing as to what u did with the os unless some one sits n figures out the reigistry which is rarest of the case.........no one has time and everyone is so lazy they would simply reflash the phone ...........only thing is that the customer should stick to the point that he doesnt know what happened to the handset and it would also depend as sometimes this things work and u get ur warrranty and sumtimes u r unlucky ............
  6. Chicken Gunia Fever- Precautions

how did i miss this ????????? by the way what relation plastic bags have with south african fever ( chicken gunia) .it is an acute viral infection caused by bitting of aedes mosquito .......n it thrives in fresh/ clean water ....or stagnant clean water collection .....so it has nothing to do with sewage
  7. Is It True?

as if sms and spam emails were not enough .......now on orkut as well.......i seriously doubt the genuinity .
  8. Samsung Explore

in this case you are not changing the os of the handset u r just flashing it with a different version of the os ........so i dont think warranty is void .......also afaik in nokia service center if your phone is bricked in doing such operations n if it underwarranty they simply reflash it for you .......no one has time to sit and check what mess you have done to the os.....they simply reflash .....but i dont know about samsung
  9. Want To Know About Internet Charges

@ saurav bro i didnt say that htc s720 is not a nice handset or it is having any defects ,i just commented on the line that u get peace of mind by getting warranty.... i dint mention anything about the handset having faults i know it is specd similar to mogul but what i wanted to say is in case of htc it doesnt matter if u have warranty or if u dont have warranty ........off course when u purchase it u will get one yr waarnty with it and it is not neccesary that u will have problems with it ( mostly no one will ) but as and when u do htc after sales service is pathetic ...... in their case talking politely or explaining doesnt matter .........and i m saying it coz i know of such cases where those people who never got warranty and were askd to pay huge sum of money just to repair.....i know thats the case in most of the cc ........
  10. Want To Know About Internet Charges

yup htc has a bulls##t after sales service ........in most cases its even worst than nokia .....the cost of repair is often more than half the price of the handset .......so getting warranty is of no use ....just ask a htc user who had gone to claim warranty they will tell u how pathetic their experience was !!!!!!
  11. Samsung Explore

well i read that thread and i think most of the members were able to unlock without bricking their handset as far as claiming warranty is concerned its a tricky question ...since u r not modifying the hardware in any form or tampering .....well i have read on net about a lot of people bricking their handsets in an attempt to modify their firmware n get their devices bricked but still they got ther warranty n some who didnt get it........... and besides in any unlocking procedure there will always b a risk of bricking if done incorrectly, even if u get it done from some vendor like most other people did the chances r still there .......... in the end the choice is yours
  12. Now I Love Iphone

as days go by iphone is taking on more and more devices with regular firmware upgrades opening more possibilities for enterprise users and the revolutionary app store which is expanding the capability of iphone pushing it into different domains ......b it multimedia ,b it gaming ,or b it the enetrprise level and the boost it is getting from the power of 3rd party support is tremendous this phone from apple has revolutionised everything .......or atleast woken up biggiies ,if not, to get sumthin revolutionary to beat it . As far as Blackberry goes i m happy that it is getting beaten up in its own game by the iphone , i mean its just the brand name for which they charge so much ,their handsets r underpowered n they demand u a premium just to use it ...for what???? And not to forget its their bb service which makes the difference and not their overpriced handsets ......and as far as push mails go there are other alternative services also arising and it sjust a matter of time MOBILE ME from apple is all set to take on BB service ,its still under heavy development and once apple sorts out the issues with it it will offer better push capability than BB ( i had treid a 60 day trial of mobile me ...though it was buggy but still it did impress me a lot ) its not a surprise any more why balckberry had to come out with a full touchscreen device ......and even their plans to add some serious 3rd party support suugests that they have been severly beaten up by a "newbie" iphone
  13. Samsung Explore

one of my relatives has this phone working on reliance........well its correct even i saw the firmware was from anycall.... anycall is samsungs phone brand and they sell a lot of their products under this brand name ....what this means is that basically people who r unlocking it r actually flashing this phone with the original samsung firmware which must not b having any software restrictions for using on a particular network..... well he got it done from some shop in heera panna here in mumbai ........or else like kamal said go to manish
  14. do i have to mention about the quality...........at 500 bucks ???????????? must b cheap plastic or sumthin otherwise how the hell would they sell the handset for 500........ has any one got any pics yet of thiese phones????????
  15. revealing not much more than GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, 3 megapixel camera and Windows Mobile 6.1. source : mobile today
  16. WELL looking at the massive success of the app store and even the hype surrounding google"s open sourced android it now blackberry,s turn recent reports suggest that even they are planning to increase thier database of 3rd party app support and to get head on with the "almighty" IPHONE " Alongside the launch of, the BlackBerry Storm, RIM has let loose some development tools to get started on the new device. Fresh APIs will allow programmers to mess around with the accelerometer, rotation, camera, touch screen, and home screen backgrounds. These should provide lots of opportunity for programmers to make some great stuff on the BlackBerry 9500, while still working within a familiar operating system. Not to be left out, compatibility for both the BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Pearl Flip are also included in the beta for BlackBerry Java Desktop Environment 4.7, and good thing - I’ve been waiting for so many apps to make the Bold leap… Simulators for all three devices should help get things properly tested and ready for distribution. All of this is just in time for the first Blackberry Developers Conference in Santa Clara, California, which will be covered by yours truly in less than two weeks. It will certainly be interesting to see what folks manage to cook up for the BlackBerry Storm in that time, especially with that rumour of an Application Center floating around … If you’re thinking of going, it might be prudent to download the BlackBerry JDE 4.7 and any simulators you might need. 19. Need A Nice Handset - Reliance

same here if u want wifi then my frend htc mogul is your choice oher than that treo 755p is a wonderful phone which would give u a gr8 pda functionality and also with a lot of 3rd party support u would enjoy your treo to the fullest well if u r a first time smartphone buyer then imo better go for plam os rahter than win mobile the choice is yours . regards well for prices u can ask sadikk he has these phones
  20. @dkalie afaik treo 755p doesnt have a gps chip.....however wat you r saying ( location oa a person at a time of distress) is done by determining the location of the nearset cell tower the phone is using signal from ( much like what google maps do )
  21. 20 days thats tooooooo many days ( i had a n95 the screen went bad n i got it repaired from nokia care just in a day !!!!!!!!! biggest surprise !!!!!!!...though i never expected it ) did u ask them whther the problem is with the screen( hardware) or some software issue ?????????? by the way which version of diego did u use???????? also u could give phoenix tools a try ( just google it )
  22. @ rakesh no it doesnt have gps chip .............i htc mogul has it though
  23. well chintan for your first problem just use a s/w called beam pro ....it send multiple files in a single beam also it wil help you to send all files ( locked ,non palm ) well the only problem with treo is that u can t do multitasking that easily unlike windows mobile since it uses a non volatile memory structure and also palm wasnt made for multitasking AFAIK.......thats why when u open an application the previuos application would close rather than running in background ( except only for ptunes or during a phone call u can access other application) so until the bluetooth operation is complete u cant open any other application though i had come across some application called Accessorizer which allows multiple applications to run over each other but still it is in beta and it causes resets if you load more than two applications at a time .....u r welcome to try it n let us know beampro.zip
  24. Need A Nice Handset - Reliance

well i think u r looking for a handset with good functionality!!!!!!!! i would suggest u to either go with htc 6800/6900 or treo dont go for blackberry ......u have far more customisable options and a lot of 3rd party support for windows mobile and palm raher than blackberry well as mentioned before u can list ur requirements u r seeking in a handset and u can get help accordingly .
