^^^ u dont need to wipe the os to downgrade there is a much easier way to downgrade any os dont use blackberry desktop manager just install the 4.2 os after that use app loader connect ur bb and load os through app loader DONOT USE BLACKBERRY DESKTOP MANAGER this is what i follow to downgrade 8830 from 4.5 to 4.2 and other bbs as well all have been successfully downgraded till now without need to wipe/delete os
