from what i read , HTC did made an official announcement last week that htc hero will get 2.1 in couple of weeks but they only referred to gsm hero but i think since sprint is on second beta testing ( yes there has been a second beta sprint 2.1 leak) , it should take same time

one of my rimweb freind told me that aircel s**ks at data speeds in mumbai better to go with airtel or tata docomo as they offer similar data plan

^^^ its the leaked beta sprint roms thats causing this data issues for many u are on a proper 1.5 rom , no beta roms btw people are too tired now staying on 1.5 , its over a yr old , its high time for 2.1 , there has been tooooo much delay , so no one can wait to try their hands when a new 2.1 rom comes on xda

^^^ the latest fresh rom already has auto pri patch , but still data not working for many on new fresh rom also despite having sprint PRI also i have noticed that few users have proper sprint PRI , but their data disconnects often and /or data speeds are painfully slow seems only fix for such people is too stay with 1.5 till official sprint release

u get EVDO on BIS btw bb browser s**ks anyways , u enjoy evdo u need new handsets which have great browsing capability and apps

one more thing i would like to add , that make sure u do a wipe of device and also of dalvik cache before u upgrade to any rom also make sure ur data settings arent change in qpst

firstly i have been trying these roms , and so far i didnt face any data issues secondly i would like to say that these data issues are more commonly occuring in those people who had previosly loaded eris leaked roms and other roms which have messed the PRI so for those for whom data isnt working here is a proper fix if data is not working , simply restore the nandroid PLZ DONOT USE THE SPRINT RUU TO GO BACK TO 1.5 IT WILL SEMI BRICK YOUR HERO USE NANDROID RESTORE ONLY TO GO BACK TO 1.5 u will have to restore nandroid through adb shell as direct restoring for recovery menu will give u error read this guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614016 once u restore , just boot in recovery menu and do wipe and u will be back to getting data hope this helps BTW if u r a daredevil like me dont be scared to try out new roms , there is always solution to problems

^^^ you dont need that your voice is happening over 1x and data occuring over evdo in absence of evdo it will go to 1x for data in case you are in area where evdo coverage is bad then only think about it

WELL go with 8830 only if u want BIS u cant use data on cdma , only calls /sms and on gsm u can use BIS as well as gprs but 8830 browser s**ks big times , and using gprs u wont get any push mail so better go for 8830 is u want BIS well if your budget is 15000 u can get brand new diamond ( under 15k from ebay with shipping) brand new touch pro ( under 15k from ebay with shipping) htc hero HTC mogul ( under 10k) if u have no need for BIS go with above handsets as you will get data ,mails and also GPS ...

where did u get the radio from it might not have been signed properly also there are two versions of radio one for eris leaks and one for others

Guys chill dont keep high hopes about reliance or tata first and foremost we can never be sure what apple does untill the last moment since new iphone will be unleashed as per tradition in june , the rumour/speculation game as usual starts 2-3 mnth back , some of which is fueled by apple to gain hype. there has been a talk about cdma iphone on verizon since jan 2009 , many people expected to get this in last june 2009 , but it never happened , but now reports seem strong enough , just like iPad rumours circulating since past 2 yrs , iPad finally came this yr , similarly i think more or less iphone cdma will come this june but but but , it will be only for verizon , and if u thinking about reliance / tata , forget it as of now , reliance/tata would be last thing that apple will want if u dont believe me wait and watch ....

YES , u can just connect to pc , make sure u have htc sync installed go to settings and enable internet sharing and enjoy

actually forget the term checking bootloader its simple , all know it , all forums have it in bold before u load any rom/radio u should have hspl on ur phone to check hspl u have to get into bootloader mode , which hitesh is saying but since touch pro / diamond / tp2 all are programed for reliance / tata the first step is to load hspl only , unless u have directly given tata ur meid only

what did u do with cdma workshop when u say unlocking ur topic title says something else also is your 8330 meid or esn based u have to change esn if its meid it needs some other procedure

reliance webworlds and reliance cc are full of idiots , they dont know anything , its better we dont talk about them firstly reliance gives EVDO services on two handsets first is samsung corby and second is officia blackberry boughth from them all official blackberries bought from them are eligible for EVDO services over BIS now remaining will get evdo only after 3g starts , if at all this yr u are talking about TRAI and gsm lobbying , but remember this is reliance , they have government under them , lol just think about this , none of private sector gsm players are yet able to offer 3G on handsets and reliance already got permission to offer EVDO on corby as well as blackberries , using their data channel , which they are using for evdo on data cards though no permission for voice , its still on 1x

well regardless of the operator u have , touch pro u are using on reliance /tata will already have hardspl by checking bootloader , means it should be hard spl since none of touch pro programming is possible without hard spl , its already done so just head to ppcgeeks ad load rom , there are plenty

once again expensive rollout from vodafone end 799 and 999 plans are utter BS for handset like iphone 3GS
