u cant update new firmware using firmware update option u have to install it either thru custom roms or thru RUU IT ONLY WORKS ON SPRINT SETTINGS FOR FIRMWARE UPDATE

yes i m, of the same view as you according to me RIMWEB has just become a market place with more and more leechers i dont see any seller posting any hacks , tutorials or any tricks people come here expecting we provide them solution for the handsets , they take that solution and then start minting money , and when it comes to their turn to share any info they just turn their back or start asking for money this isnt good for any forum the admin should empahasize on openess of forum , and people should post technical stuff ,rather than non sense topics as far as howard goes our forum will never be howard forum when people dont share stuff then a forum can never be successful same thing is happening even with mobile files forum , bcoz of all leeching and zero contribution hackers have started hiding their solutions i beleive and will always beleive in qualitative posting rather han quantitative posting it would be nice to see with fellow members start posting good technical stuff , be it anything , tips , tricks , roms , apps etc also one more thought Hetal started the concept of Techie enclave it was meant to be purely for technical devs who can work underground without the fear of reliance or anyone but now i see that almost half forum is a member of techie enclave , people who r not technical/noobs also are over there all forums have an underground section for devs , but their admission policies are very strict , its not for evryone but over here its very flexible , i urge the admin group to stop taking noobs and non technical members to techie enclave PS : i m not against any seller , infact i m happy to see that atlast there is some competition begining to occur in sales section what worries me is that in these selling things we have stopped posting technical stuff , which is essence of any forum

be careful if u r using handcent application its known to cause 100% awake issue on hero , which would mean poor battery life read abt it on ppcgeeks/xda

^^^ htc droid eris is programmable , which means it can work on reliance but u cant root it there are lot of cool advantages of rooting , most imp been hassle free custom roms installation

htc hero and droid eris are almost identical in hardware with few cometic differences but major end user difference is that hero is rootable where droid eris is non rootable also one would have hiccups setting data on htc droid eris ( may be for evdo) so overall htc hero is better choice over droid eris as far as motorola droid is concerned , i own one , and its better than hero and eris anyday only problem is that motorola isnt that hacker freindly as htc

slot cycle index just determines the pinging time between handset and tower different phones have diff slot cycle index and different roms have set different value for SCI usiually htc phones come with SCI 2 u can reduce it to 1 REDUCING SCI WONT CAUSE DATA ISSUES theres no big deal in SCI its very simple to reduce SCI , just use qpst and put ur prefrred value for slot cycle index once again , changing value of slot cycle index from 2 to 1 wont have any adverse effects , except the fact that it will drain your battery faster , as it will ping the network with shorter intervals i myself m using SCI value of 1 on my hero and pre

i m starting new topic for samsung juke related hacks 1) HOW TO TRANSFER IMAGES FROM SAMSUNG JUKE TO PC 1) on juke go to menu >>settings 2) press # 3) it will ask for unlock code , type 000000 and press ok 4) this will open a programming menu , select 3 option "mpt" 5) change mode from "mpt" to "msm" press ok and then press end this will put your phone in diag mode before you connect your phone to pc download and install these samsung drivers http://mark.cdmaforu...WHQL%20v3.0.zip also make sure u have downloaded and installed qpst 6) connect your juke to pc , it will say cdma diag mode and will show on your ports go to device manager and in ports see which port juke is connected to 7) now open qpst and go to qpst configurator and add the com port to which juke is attached 8) now open efs explorer and see in brew>>mod folder ur images are there 9) just right click on image file and select "copy from phone " and select ur desired location on ur pc ur image file will be copied there see the screenshot 10) dont forget to go back to programming menu and chnage mode for "msm" to "mpt" or else music sync wont work
