I'd suggest the Olive Netbook: http://www.olivetelecom.in/laptop/mini-laptops/netbook-x107h.html To view movies on a larger screen one could use the VGA & Audio OUT to connect to an external display. It has an inbuilt high speed EV-DO modem which comes with a default TATA Photon+ connection. I have tried it out n its superb! The best part is it costs just around 18K!! Best wishes, Clinton

Nokia will exit CDMA phone business by April 2007 http://www.betanews.com/article/Nokia_Call...Deal/1150993303 Nokia to exit from CDMA manufacturing http://www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1037085 << Topic Merged >>

I've successfuly managed to connect to the Rconnect service using KPPP dialer on Kubuntu 6.06 LTS (kernel 2.6.15), and a DKU-2 cable. The device was detected at /dev/ttyACM0, and I used the initialisation string AT+CRM=1;+CSO=33 to get the modem to make the data call. However, now that I'm trying to access contacts, ringtones, etc. on my phone, I'm stumped. I simply don't know what approach to take. Has anyone been able to do this with a 6155, or even a 6255, and a DKU-2 cable? If so, can you list the steps you followed?

I get an RWorld menu after the "Bas Button Dabao" graphic.

Now that this handset has been launched, can some admin add this phone to the handset list of this forum? For now I have to use 6255 as the closest match.

I got it today from Mumbai-Malad-West WebWorld for Rs. 10,344/- It was their first & only piece that arrived just yesterday. Some of their employees didn't even know it had come to their webworld. Everything is in good working order so far.

Nope. I've never faced this problem. Try charging the phone for atleast 30-45 minutes before you try connecting. A 15-minute charge may not be enough. Also, after charging, just reboot your phone i.e. switch it off and then switch it on. Then try connecting to the Net. Sometimes, these simple things work.

You changed the RConnect dialer didn't you? The new (wrong) dialer is for a different kind of connection, hence, it will not detect your phone (as modem), and hence, you do not reach the point of checking if the port is open, and hence, you do not get the original message. This is your problem. Try uninstalling the current RConnect dialer and re-install the original dialer. You do not need to re-install the PL-2303 USB-to-Serial converter drivers. Let us know how it goes.

This should be especially useful to those who want to configure RConnect to work with the KPPP dialer.

I don't have any issue with dormancy. This RConnect thing is like dial-on-demand so i don't want continuous data transfer either. BTW everything is running fine again as of 6:00pm (temporary glitch?) FYI, I run Mandrake 10.1 on my Acer Aspire 3002 NLC notebook PC. Thanks anyways, hope I don't need help again tomorrow.

I had high speed connectivity this morning, but after lunch, I'm getting connected but it gets into dormancy, and doesn't respond to and browser requests. I tried ping -i 5 (dns_ip) to keep my connection alive, but even though the dns server gets pinged without packet loss, there is no response to my browser's requests. I tried a traceroute on the dns ip and it took just one hop for a response. I tried traceroute on icicibank.com and yahoo.com and i got an 'unknown host' response after about 1 minute each.

Since the solution is kind of long, I have attached the same to this post. Please post your experiences with this procedure if it is relevant to your configuration. rconnect_lgrd2130_kppp.pdf
