It seems that Nokia India has taken that page down ..

I have never tested the MMS service of RGSM. However, yesterday, I decided to give it a try. The problem is - I get a SMS informing that I have a MMS and that I must visit http://mms.relianceada.com:9999/webtop2/ to view it. A message key is also supplied with this SMS, which supposedly helps me view this MMS. Now when I visit this portal and enter the mobile number as well as the message key, I get an error message stating that there are "no slides to display"! Help me out - has anyone faced this problem? Reliance customer care agents are clueless - they have noted it down as a complaint and told me that they would revert within 48 hours. For the sake of information, the MMS sender is situated in Tamil Nadu and uses the same network. This phone (N79) is also configured with the appropriate MMS and GPRS settings.

3G Service To Cost Rs.700-900/month : Sunil Mittal
ipkonfig replied to ravi_patent's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Please bear in mind that this comes from the same guy who had previously stated that the opportunity for cheap broadband is lost for India. ( Check out http://bit.ly/c8juxx ) Airtel is looking for methods to increase their profit levels - by any means viable. Just take a look at the broadband plans from Airtel. Every existing broadband plan was revised and now comes with a fair usage policy that ranges from 3GB to 20GB. It seems these guys still think we are in 2002! -

Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability
ipkonfig replied to coolrajiv's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Well said. I knew something or the other might turn up. And I am not surprised to see this piece of news. As mentioned in the news article, many forces are acting against MNP in India and strangely they seem to win every time .. -
^^ Thanks for responding. My friend is indeed from TN (Kulasekaram). I will ask him to proceed accordingly.

Sorry to bump this thread !! A friend of mine is facing the same problem. He bought a new Reliance GSM SIM card. He too gets the dreaded "sim card registration failed" message. I think he is using a Nokia 6230i. So, we need to visit the WW for another replacement SIM? Can it be solved in some other manner? Will they replace the SIM for free?

ipkonfig replied to srk006's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
I read somewhere (probably in another forum) that Vodafone has waivered call charges to CC until 10th May 2010 - in celebration of the 100 million subscriber achievement. -

^^ True. But plenty of people will fall for the "4mbps" tag. Just another marketing gimmick from Airtel. -

We Are Crying For 3G... Here's 4G From Sprint...
ipkonfig replied to dkaile's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
I know that the majority will be voting for 4G implementation. However, we fail to understand that we live in a country that does not even have a proper GPRS/edge system. The administration is corrupt and yes, you (or the neighbors wife) might be able to use them; but due to the high charges a good share of the population is least interested in such technologies. Not to mention the connectivity hiccups. Move from one room to the other - the connection breaks. Look at the bigger picture - try not to limit oneself to his (or her) own city. Make technology affordable. For instance, look at the current broadband scenario of the country. The jokers aka officials fail to understand that access to a stable, high speed (not 2mbps) broadband system - without any speed caps or fair usage policy practices - is necessary for the country to develop. Well, they are not exactly dumb. Nevertheless, they are simply milking us. Please do not ask me for explanations. Look at one of the latest development - DoT vs STel. When the courts rule in favor of STel, Dot asks STel to pack bags and leave the country? And someone tells me that we live in a democratic country? 4G is a distant dream. First, allow them to give us access to seamless 3G. Then we can start fighting for 4G. Besides, it is of no use to compare India with other countries. Things run much differently over here. If someone wishes to utilize 4G, let them migrate to a 4G enabled country (at least for the time being). -
Dot Asks S Tel To Stop Services On Security Concerns
ipkonfig replied to Himanshu Singh's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Even I am appalled by this news. But I guess DoT can play big brother only with new entrants. I wonder about the plight of those who opted for the services of STel. -
