Atleast u have the SIM on your hands even if its useless In here even today no news about GSM service. Called the nearby WW and they asked my name and said that they will book two SIMs for me. The guy also said something about choosing our desired number, which i didnt pay heed to when he told me. And that i will be informed when its formally launched in Trivandrum. Lets see whats in store.

WW is saying it will be launched on Jan 15th, local SIM dealer is saying it will be launched on 17th on Trivandrum. Heard that the SIM is available till Varkala as of yesterday.

Certain sites do provide the service for free, but anything like misuse can come back like a boomerang

I would suggest that u wait for some more time till u forward the request to CC. Most probably fancy numbers will be preserved for postpaid subscribers (have seen it with BSNL/Vodafone).

Offtopic : Just did a manual network scan and i find a INA 02 being listed. Any ideas which network it is?

INA 20 (Reliance GSM TN) occasionally shows up in my phone during network searches. U should be able to enjoy seamless roaming in TVM too.

So u are saying i should travel 250kms away just to experience Reliance network back in my place? Sad to know that u arent getting the signal at your home.

Is the 25/- recharge mandatory? Any ideas why they are doing it?

In here too the same situation, people are queuing up in front of pumps for hours, only to see the NO STOCK placard sometime later. Some of them into money making schemes too, they are selling petrol @ 100/- per litre in some parts of Trivandrum. Sad indeed.

Nice to know about the Nagercovil launch. Just spoke with WW TVM, they are still saying SIM not available

CEP sims are already available in here, but only higher officials have access to it. They are still in *testing phase*, hence are a bit apprehensive of giving away the sims. Lets hope they finish their testing and make the sims available to general public by Jan 15th.

According to WW TVM, it should be available from Jan 15th 2009.

Are they providing 10~20 sims at a go? I mean is there any kinda of sim restriction per subscriber.

Reliance GSM was launched in Punjab today. The CEP sims are available at 25/-.

Waiting for them to spread out to other states too !!

I had gone to pay my mobile bill in the WW in here (Vazhuthacad). When enquired about Reliance GSM sims, they were of the opinion that sims will be distributed only after Jan 15th. When i asked them about the CEP sims, they said yes, those sims are available, but they are currently given to top Reliance employees only. I was wondering that all over India the normal people are getting access to CEP sims, but in here only the high rated employees get to taste it.
