Have You Received / Experienced Any Phishing Mails or Scams ?
anujit replied to ani_meher's topic in The Lounge
Most browsers Firefox, Opera, Netscape and now even IE (through a MSN toolbar plugin) have anti-phishing technology built in. So even if you open one of those mail and and click on a phoney link it will redirect you to the actual site. I've tried this for a number of phishing emails. It does work. However it wont work 100% of the time. So it's always best to type addresses in the address field and be aware of colour indicators (everyone misses the lil yellow padlock) that warn of phishing sites! -
Interestingly enough in USA (usually means Verizon) on CDMA 1x 2000 networks people claim an average throughput of around 70-80 kbps. RIM on the other hand usually gives 120+ kbps on most nights (I rarely use it during the day on weekdays but on weekends its more-or-less the same).

I wouldn't block Google ads because they dont bother me at all. I would like to block crappy Colgate ads on Yahoo/Rediff that turn my screen green, red and yellow. Or flashy annoying popups that say "you're infected scan now" sort of $HiT!

No that doesnt work Vishal. I can do the same thing from the security settings menu. I need to knock of files from the Folder. Resetting doesnt delete any data! Does anyone know of any software which can read files on the 6255? Perhaps Bitpim or something!

Ok so I screwed myself over. Heres what happened: 1. I was uploading an app to my phone using MobiMB. 2. When uploading the transfer bar got stuck and didn't move for a long time 3. I then cancelled the upload. Thats what's screwed up the COLLECTION folder. Now I can't open folder through my phone. The damn thing reboots every time I try to open the Collections folder! I can view the folder through MobiMB but I cannot delete any files from there! Or recopy the same file over the old file. I copied the file from my phone to my computer and it shows that the jar file is 0kb. So I'm screwed. Ashok stop laughing. Any tips on how I can fix it would be great (Without taking it to the phone shop)!

I managed to load opera mini on it. The application opened but of course I couldnt browse the web through wap. If any one can find a hack though.....

Dude but when they launch the 6265 then they will unveil their next super hi-fi model the 6275 and then the 6285 and the 6295. See what I'm trying to get at? Buy the 6255 now if you feel it meets your requirements and budget for now and the next 1 year at least. For my money though (and the 6265 will be probably in the 18-20k range competitor to the D500 and the like) I wouldnt buy something in mid-2006 that hasnt got EVDO!

Mukul: I have. Works or so my friend said. Get a link to RWorld like regular sms on those phones. But have you ever received any MMS from those phones?

Hidden-code Flaw In Windows Renews
anujit replied to Vishal Gupta's topic in General Technical Discussion
Its almost as if Ashoksoft's written the code for windows!!! Just kidding. He's not good with his (ahem) witty retorts..... but he does do some cool stuff with software. -
Sundar lots of 6255 owners have posted their numbers around here. Find them and PM them yourself and ask them when YOU can call them and then call them yourself!

RIM upgraded the MMS application a few weeks back. Now they've changed the Webmail application too - added a new interface and more email service providers! What they've also done is barred the existing users like me on xxxx@vsnl.net from accessing my mail through the webmail option! It keeps giving me an error -- that my username & password is wrong -- or I have another active session!!!! Are any of you using webmail on Rworld? Can you access your account especially on VSNL?? Let me know!

Yeah any blue tooth headset should work. But Mukul would be the best person to confirm this.

Tanveer: Why dont you go to http://www.nokia.com/us can and download PC Suite 6.6 (First select the 6255 from the phones menu - and then go to it's software options). 6.6 supports USB & Serial DKU2 maybe the version on RIM's website just supports serial or something. Its worth a shot (download is around 25MB). ----------------------------------------------------- Now an interesting question. I've just discovered I can MMS and E-mail directly from my 6255! My question is how do I recieve email replies, MMS (from non 6255 or LG 6130 etc handsets)! ------------------------------------------------------

While USB 2.0 is 480 MBPS and 1.1 is 12 MBPS the limiting factor here might be your HDD and chip writer speed. So in the end you might not see too much difference between the two on smaller chips. Not sure about the larger 1-2 GB ones though.

Vista, Longhorn Server, Winfs, Sql Server 2005
anujit replied to Vishal Gupta's topic in General Technical Discussion
Vista in 2005. Hmmm.... they will have to remove alot more components from it to ship it that fast. Maybe even remove the little RUN box in the start menu - which seems to be the only distinguishing factor from WinXP. Or maybe the got their hands on the complete OSX code for the Intel platform and just decided to change logos and go with that! -
No Ashok. Read carefully. In my last poll I said we should whack Geeta on the head. TOO means we whack you as well!

You need PC Suite for contact mangement & syncing with Outlook. Thats of course IFF you use it for productivity rather than for just downloading games! And both can co-exist perfectly. In fact I've seen that we can have more than one BT connection to the mobile simultaneously. While on RConnect (in active not dormant mode) I've downloaded files to my mobile using MobiMB! Anyone has any idea how many devices can be connected together simulatenously? In which case the possibilities such as 1 phone 2 computers with internet or 2 phones and 1 computer (boosting the speed of the internet) can be used!
-
I'm pretty sure its Ashok trying to spoil our fun! Poll: Should we whack Ashok on the head too!!!
-
Ashok (cracking my whip).... http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,,018-262...html?model=6255 ..... get to work! And if not for me at least for.

For kilo BITS multiply 102.40 into 8 = Rs. 819.2! But it wont be bits - bits is used to measure speed and bytes to measure volume! It might be 1p per 10kb though!
-
BSNL doesnt have a mobile service that works. I can imagine how good GPRS would be. 10p per kb means that for 1MB you end up paying Rs. 102.4 and for 1GB Rs 1,04,857.60. Enjoy.
-
Yes Rakash, bluetooth connects your pc to your phone without the need for a data cable. And you will get 144 kbps (max speed of CDMA 1x200) on it.

Tanveer: What is PC SYNC?
-
Price of DKU-2 cables especially around the Pune/Mumbai region would be most welcome!
-
Wow Puneet thats great. But why do operators reduces call charges by Rs 0.50 when ADC is reduced by the same amount! That means we are paying full per minute ADC when we're actually using much much less! $#$*#&!!!
