There was a full form for DAPO (a funny one of course) --- anyone remembers it?
-
Unlimited STD wont happen until they remove ADC. And one must really convince Ramchi thats the real issue. Not the Ambanis (or free calls in the USA)!
-
Dude to get radio.... you need a RECEIVER! No amount of software can help you there. But I do understand what you're trying to say --- you get more feature rich apps on a Series 60.

PB - we are discussing the yet to be launched 6235 not the month old 6255 here!

Anil Takes Over As Chairman Of Reliance Infocomm
anujit replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Communications
If you mean Reliance Communication Ventures Ltd., which includes Reliance Infocomm and global telecoms carrier FLAG, Reliance Energy Ventures Ltd., Reliance Capital Ventures Ltd. and Global Fuel Management Services Ltd - they have been operational for YEARS! -
And then Ashok responds to that in ONE minute! Its not a forum its instant chat!
-
After the OS all they'll need is a Office Application and a gaming console and well a red tail and some horns!
-
Umm when exactly are they launching these? Considering the response the 6255 has got (on RIMWeb at least), they should really hurry up with these!
-
Sounds like a great idea, but no way am I giving Ashok my handset. He'd take it a flee to Afghanistan or something like that I'm sure! But seriously - anyone has a Kyocera 7135 they want to sell?

Ramchi, Who on earth told you that local calls are free in "developed" countries. Only place where it is free is in N.A. - well USA & Canada only and on landlines only. And lets define free - in New York city - calls between two buroughs Queens & Manhattan - costs MONEY! Wheres it free! In UK all calls costs MONEY - local too! And it costs PER call on MOBILES in USA! And several times what it costs in India. On Verizon a 450 minute plan gives Unlimited IN Calling (such as RIM to RIM) AND Night & Weekend Home Airtime Minutes at $39.99 (Rs. 1600/month) and above 450 minutes it costs $0.45 p/minute (Rs. 18 per minute). And thats just the basic costs. Then you have messaging, data plans, operator assistance and what nots! Now since the major costs for telecom service providers is equipment costs (manpower costs are considerably less since they arent trenching cables)... a massive portion of the operating costs are the same - India buys telecom infrastucture from global players thoses costs remain the same more or less. Plus the subscriber base is several times there what is in India. --------------------------------------- Secondly, who loses with rate cuts - the SERVICE PROVIDERS - and they'll take that loss for the benefit of their subscribers? Cummon not even Sunil Mital is that nice. And before you start on volumes will rise.... lemme tell you if volumes rises it causes strains on the network... till it reaches a level where it overloads the infrastructure and then the service provider has to install more infrastructure to provide more bandwidth (it costs more to grow too fast -- a law of business). Remember those "network busy" messages! And as for number switching it will only happen within a circle only..... that will only cause more confusion because you think you're calling RIM2RIM on a new "unlimited RIM2RIM call voucher" only to see it comes back to bite you in the a$$ cause you called BSNL which has the highest interconnect rates coz they're still bitchin they lost their ADC money! Enjoy your one India. -------------------------------------------------------------- The only thing the govt. should do is remove the ADC. Have a revenue sharing agreement instead for a maximum of 5 years --- with % of revenue falling each year. With further discounts for those who setup infrastructure in rural areas. If RIM sets up infrastructure in a Jhumri talia -- they shouldnt have to pay BSNL ADC for calls made to/from there! Then remove the army from internationally available bandwidths. What the hell are they doing there anyways! And facilitate R&D and assembly units in India so that reduces costs. And finally and most importantly BACK OFF after that. Rajiv Gandhi and co. dabbled too much with setting hardware/electronics/manufacturing and forgot all about software. And we are ever grateful to them for that! It's good to let the market compete. Let the BSNLs, MTNLs, RIMs & Airtels slug it out against each other. Enjoy the ride.

One India like CAS wont happen. The service providers wont let it.

Forgot Administrator Password In Windows Xp?
anujit replied to Vishal Gupta's topic in General Technical Discussion
Cool tip. Have you tried it? -
They really try hard dont they. Almost like RIM does try extra hard to disable anything useful on a Nokia phone!

After many months I have been able to get into the webmail menu successfully. Usually it used to just give errors when I tried entering the webmail option. Now I've been able to enter it and I was plesantly surprised to see Gmail in the list! Alas that doesnt work yet.... still errors!!! Same thing with my vsnl.net mail... it says (and has been saying so ever since they tried to change the email page screens, colours & logos) - another connection is active or incorrect password... how one relates the two god knows! Does anyone else face similar problems with their vsnl.net address? Has anyone been able to log into their gmail accounts yet?

Spectrum for Customer Base for 3G Rollout in India
anujit replied to @ksh@T's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
What have the Marxists gotta do with this anyways? And speaking of the Marxists - where does does Japan have its BIGGEST investments in India - in West Bengal thank you very much. -
So what exactly is Mukul & co installing if they arent installing 3rd party apps. I'd say Fifa 2005 is pretty damn 3rd party.
-
Mukul: You didnt mention how much the 6255 costs. Surely you are aware of other phones with similar features, he didnt want a cam or bluetooth or any of those fancy stuff.

Spectrum for Customer Base for 3G Rollout in India
anujit replied to @ksh@T's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Why cant GSM and CDMA both get the 1900 spectrum? There are around 6-7 mobile service providers in India. Surely this band can accomodate 6 players. What does subscriber base have to do with anything? If a small player wants to offer its entire subscriber base of 200 people the latest & best technology .... just freakin let them! One of the major things they should look at while alotting spectrum is GLOBAL COMPATIBILITY! Let the Americans come here with their fancy mobiles and run up huge bills here. Let the Brits come up with their lesser fancy mobiles and run up huge bills here. And let the Japs come here with the space age stuff and do amazing things. Thats what communication is about and the govt. should be facilitating it not strangling it. -
Ramchi - at 3kbps you should be able to download around 4-5 MB/hour. Over 2-3 days you can download (max) - 360 MB! Anything less than that and your connection is even slower than that! And I think SP2 is around 80 MB (or 125 MB but not much more) for a complete download - even less if you just update the components you have installed on your computer (it goes down to a minimum of around 24 MB I think). So thats really nothing to brag about. For your reference - at peak speeds I download over 50 MB/Hour (roughly little less 1MB per minute) using R Connect.
-
No Ramchi I dont agree with you. GPRS typically doesnt give more than 3 kbps (even in the best of conditions), although it is cheaper. RIM gives me around 10kbps at peak times and 12-16 kbps at night. Also GPRS is useless in most cases while roaming. Not so with RIM.
-
Whats the difference between Series 40 & 60? Does higher number equal better stuff always? Certainly doesnt for Nokia's phone model numbers!
-
Kams sorry man can't find their nos. anywhere. And Pimpri is too far! So I'm waiting for a shop to pop-up closer to home.
-
Cool Ashok I'll take a trip to Bombay during that time. And you dont get 2.3 Mbps man! Are you kidding me!
