  1. Google Specialized Search Urls

earth.google.com is where you'd want to be.
  2. Rim Web Fading?

Over the last few months I've noticed that there has been a substantial drop in postings. Of course I have no data to support this. However when I clicked on "View New Posts" every few hours or so I used to see tons of new posts. Nowadays its barely 2-3 mostly none. Arun, Chirag: do you have any data to verify this? I would suspect now that billing and services have stabilised and there is little talk about here except hacking and Ashok's cool new program! Pehaps we need to get new topics etc in here to increase involvement? Maybe discuss Vishal's girlfriend (no not Ash) and the like! Suggestiongs and thoughts welcome from everyone.
  3. What To Do... If Ur Mob Gets Wet!

Hey Ashok: The tutorial was fantastic. A friend of mine (DAPO customer) had got her dropped her 191 in a pool of water. They charged her 5000 bucks to get it fixed! So knowing stuff like this really helps.
  4. Reliance Accepts Outside Handsets.

Its an O2 (windows mobile or ce or something like that) phone. And freakin awesome! of course the price tag would be too!
  5. Windows Xp Sp2 Updates

The downloaded files are saved in a number of locations including a folder titled "windows update" or something similar in your windows folder. And various temporary folders across different drives depending on space available etc. To save the updates you need to do something else. 1. Use windows update to get a list of updates you require. 2. Click on the "more info" link thats at the end of the description of each patch/update item. 3. It will open a seperate new page for the item giving a description of the flaw what it affects etc etc. 4. On the right hand side of the page or somewhere in between the text (if there are different patches for different windows versions) you will see links where you can download the exe's for the patches. Click on the version of the patch you need and save the exe in a convinient location on your computer. 5. Sometimes the patches ask for validation. But you can just skip past that. And there you are. Now Vishal can I sleep with your girlfriend?
  6. Reliance Accepts Outside Handsets.

Which CDMA phone did you try to activate with the GSK? You'll need to probably deactivate it from the current service provider before you can activate it on RIM!
  7. Reliance Accepts Outside Handsets.

Shah: What wasn't possible till 3 minutes back? Vishal: I agree with you... it probably isnt possible.... although this is in no way mentioned anywhere!
  8. Reliance Accepts Outside Handsets.

Can it be used with any phone? Even CDMA phones that are not supported by RIM? ------------------------------------------ * Usage guidelines for Postpaid Get Started Kit Postpaid Get Started Kit can be used with * Any Reliance ready handset, without a pre-allotted number * Any second-hand, non active Reliance handsets Postpaid Get Started Kit cannot be used with * Reliance prepaid or postpaid handsets with a pre-allotted number * Any active Reliance postpaid or prepaid handset * Damaged or reported as lost Reliance handsets Submit the application form to any Reliance representative. And remember, you will be able to use the phone only after your application is registered in the Reliance system. * Usage guidelines for Prepaid Get Started Kit Prepaid Get Started Kit can be used with * Any active Reliance Prepaid handset * Reliance ready handsets, without a pre-allotted number, which do not have a Reliance sticker on the handset box * Any second-hand, non active Reliance handsets Prepaid Get Started Kit cannot be used with * Reliance prepaid or postpaid handsets with a pre-allotted number * Any active Reliance postpaid handset * Reliance ready handset, without a pre-allotted number, which have a Reliance sticker on the handset box * Damaged or reported as lost Reliance handset ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This doesnt cover those types phones at all!
  9. Reliance Accepts Outside Handsets.

Referring to the GSKs and the like? I don't think they can work with "non-provisioned" RIM handsets on the RIM network!
  10. Some Handsets Are Gone?

I think these handsets have been "out of stock" for quite a while or at least the 7130 & Samsung 603 have. Time they changed them and got new stuff anyways.
  11. Windows Xp Sp2 Updates

Updates differ depending on machine configuration etc. Some of those updates in those lists were installed BEFORE installing SP2, some AFTER. Best is to connect to Windows Update from the PC in question. For example unless you have installed IIS (not installed by default), you wont get an update for it!
  12. Rim Web Fading?

Yes and EVDO but all that is vapourware for now.
  13. Rim Web Fading?

Thats my point Vicky. Perhaps we should get in more stuff on CDMA etc happenings around the world. Especially Japan (FOMA) & South Korea.
  14. Rim Web Fading?

I think he meant it as a joke Ashok. Relax.
  15. Rim Web Fading?

Yeah Vishal is enjoying the attention!
  16. Get an @ Ricmail.com Account

Just call up CC and ask "which plan am I on." Thats what I did when I changed from freedom to platinum. They said the change would take around 24 hours. It took a few minutes! I was impressed. Also another thing about CC nowadays you dont have 20 menus to navigate through, and they have caller id! So verification is quick and no matter who answers - they can usually solve your problems! Way to go RIM!
  17. Wap Chat On Rim

Yes it is Ashok. You must save us from the tyrannical cluthes of RIM and deliver free stuff or if you choose difuse a nuclear bomb, whichever is simpler!
  18. Wap Chat On Rim

Ashok: Your next important task would be to find out how to get Yahoo! Messenger working on our mobiles! Now that would be a major major challenge!
  19. Rim Web Fading?

I say we hack the damn thin*G.
  20. Ubuntu Linux

What do you mean its on OS X Emulator? How does it work? Does it boot in Windows loadup and a virtual environment in which the MacOS runs? In which case since I don't have a blazing fast PC I'd face a lot of performance problems. I'd rather have some code that sits in the boot sector (and maybe spills over a lil) that runs the OS X directly on my PC (as god intended it too ). Oh and the website... cherryos.com has died and been taken over!
  21. Ubuntu Linux

Personnally I'm not a great fan of Linux. It might run Oracle very well, but from a desktop users point of view it suc*k*s. I've tried installing Linux several times, The only time I was successful was with a Redhat 5.x distribution (then too it didn't detect one of my modems). Apart from drivers, its hard to configure and understand, too techie. And has no apps (read games) that run on it. I'll still wait for my copy of a hacked OS X which will run a non-Apple computer thank you very much.
  22. Ubuntu Linux

Is this some kind of Linux distribution? If so what are its advantages? And can't one just download it of the net?
  23. Does Anil get to retaint the Reliance brand name for all his cos? What about new cos like Adlabs and the like? And if he does - for how long?
  24. Mobile Industry Dials Wrong Number

Well the govt is more responsible than the service providers. And why: 1. FDI upto 75% was supposed to be opened up 1 year ago. 2. Real broadband policies (256kbps with no download caps and without you having to convince 20 other people in your building before the ISP is willing to put a modem there) should have been here 1 year ago. 3. Three G! Whats the army doing there? The rest of the world's armies are on higher bands. Move up people quickly (without creating another bofors case of course). 4. A-F*U*C*K*I*N*G-DC - cross subsidy never works. Never did. Never will. Its the worlds worst economic theory. Mr. M. Singh knows it.
  25. Mms Is Still Free

I don't know the source of your news but things like that certainly shouldnt be posted here (moderators where are you! ) A. It's hard to verify. B. People using it could end up like those "free" prepaid RConnect guys C. You'll never be able to verify if they've fixed the error!
