  1. Yes roaming is far far cheaper on RIM. And now that Airtel, Hutch & co have withdrawn their special roaming offer its back to around 5-6 bucks a pop for prepaid users! However - why does RIM keep saying they dont have any roaming charges! Thats another lie! Outgoing charges may remain the same - BUT THERE ARE INCOMING CHARGES. Cheap yes but charges nevertheless!
  2. Multiplayer Gaming

Paradox is owned by Reliance is it not? Another thing they should take out are games with SOUND - & vibration! No fun if you're bursting aliens into tiny subatomic particles and ya have to do it silently!
  3. I dialed *448 or was it *448 anyways the call connected & then disconnected. Few minutes later i got a message for 2811 saying "Dear Customer, The number change is alread done on this phone" Wazzat!
  4. A Small Gift From Reliance !

hey i took my phone in early march as well... and i upgraded.... and i promoted it too (and now a lot of friends have it - of course they abuse me once in a while for that).... and all i got was some crummy sms!!!! I want the samsung i700!
  5. no they don't! they are all CDMA2000 1x! And by supports EVDO - I mean - they are capable of 2.4 mbps data transfer! supports evdo doesn't mean the phone can operate on a evdo network - because evdo is backward compatible and all phones running older CDMA versions can work in a evdo network!
  6. No Easy Way Out For Reliance Users

Apart from some figures being wrong - my question - WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO QUIT??? Specially if you use data & roaming & long distance services RIM has the best value for money not to mention services no matter which rate plan you're on!!!
  7. Well they should get the EVO system online fast.... along with new handsets to support it! BTW the LG Video Cam phone (7230 I think) already supports EVO!
  8. Location Based Tracking

Apparently most high-end 3g phone support GPS, including the Samsung A500 series. But I don't think the facility is there in the A563! Or I hope not anyways. However this tracking can only be used by Law enforcement agencies, rescue workers etc, I don't think bosses will be allowed to track their employess (unknowingly) with this sort of technology.
  9. Is Samsung N191 Available ?

Yeah its no longer being sold by RIM. But you'll get it where there's left over stock I guess. So tells us which city you're in and someone here might be able to help you....
  10. well how would I know... it really doesnt say so anywhere! But thanks alot Arun.
  11. Hi, I joined this forum just like most of you did.... searching Google for answers to simple problems that RIM customer service can never solve. And this forum's pretty great (except that nobody hacks the A563!!!)! Whats with that anyways! Anyways Keep up the good work! But btw - who developed/maintains this site anyways????
  12. Tarrifs: Other Operators Vs. Reliance

DAPO plan similar to 599 plan for mobile to mobile & much cheaper for mobile to basic! Of course they should get in higher rate plans and have a wider choice of offerings. They withdraw old schemes to introduce new ones! Thats plain stupid! Widen your portfolio RIM!
  13. How to reduce Heating of Phone?

Phones get heated because both Samsung & LG have crappy battery technology & coupled with poor signal its good enough to set things on fire after 10 minutes of use.
  14. The Newgen Smart Phones

Have you seen the Samsung i700! Now thats a smart phone!
  15. Why Does My Rconnect Become Dormant Always

I do something very simple to keep my connection "alive" during my session. I start a Kazaa/Download accelerator/other download. During the download the phone never becomes dormant. Also due to high speed connection - browsing/chatting etc never is a problem while Kazaa or DAP is running in the background. This prevents the phone from disconnecting everytime and costing me a call charge every 20-30 seconds! Is this not a problem with the Reliance FWP? They are based on the same technology - I would assume both would have this problem!
  16. Spymac Gets On Google Bandwagon

I registered at Spymac (a name that inspires trust!) as soon as I read Ashok's post here. The first day I tried sending mail using webmail I got an error saying that SMTP on 127.0.0.1 wasn't configured! And that scared me --- why was the website trying to send mail using my machine as an SMTP server!!! Either ways it was a bug or they have hacked into my machine and can use it as a mail relay since the message has stopped appearing when i send messages from there. But people you have to realise the best part about this email service --- FREE POP ACCESS!!! For all you people complaining how slow it is to open their site. Not to mention using crappy addresses nothing as nice as mail.yahoo.com or hotmail.com to directly go to their login page. Use a POP client to solve all your problems!!!
  17. It was supposed to happen in Feb 2003. But RIM got into a tussle with BSNL saying BSNL wasnt providing them enough connectivity at the LDCA level vs the SDCA level they are currently connected at. So it was deferred. Maybe Feb 2005 who knows. RIM will be 93...... and Tata will be 95...... I also hear Airtel will be 97......... - since these along with BSNL are national players they will be given unique nos. BSNL already has 94.......... The remaing 8 digits should remain the same though. And its costing RIM around 100 crores to add 2 digits. Perhaps if they spent 1/10th of that on their billing & collections systems things wouldnt be so #$#*& up.
  18. It should work - from a technical point of view there isnt any problem. Unless Reliance has blocked it!!! However you will need software to enable your "server" phone to answer the call of the "client". But thats freely available anyways.
  19. Does Lg Korea Mobile Work In India?

I don't think its a question of "Can you use the phone here", but rather "Will you be allowed to...". I thought TATA allowed you to bring your own CDMA phone. Reliance sure doesnt. BSNL & MTNL does (I think!) - but then again they dont have much of a CDMA service! If you're planning on bringing a GSM be careful because that might be operator locked to (it is in the US). But breaking that lock is easy. All it takes is a little "flashing" by your local pirate stores.
  20. Samsung A563 Pc Sync S/w

All the versions work fine! As for the problem with not being able to detect your phone - you have to select the correct port for the phone. By default it selects COM 1 - but of course thats a regular serial port. Find out which COM port your phone is using - this usual stays fixed and doesnt change each time you connect/disconnect your phone to your computer. Then go to the configuration option & select the correct COM port and you'll be up and running!
  21. Drastic Upgradations Necessary !

how do you upgrade your handset version jiggar??? and i have a 563 too vikram and i upload/downloand wallpapers & ringtones to it everyday.
  22. Signal Boosters

Hey don't gripe about being in a village. Reliance signal s**ks big time everywhere. I'm in the heart Calcutta and I face a similar problem when inside large buildings etc. So you know who you should recommend to get signal boosters.... thats right the boys @ RIM!!!!
  23. Tweaking Samsung phones

Will someone please hack the Samsung A563!!!! The ringtones on this phone really ****! and **** bad!
  24. Samsung Is Expensive

Heres my take on the whole thing: I have a Samsung A563 & my collegue who sits right beside me has the LG colour model. So I speak with a great deal of experience 1. Samsung is more expensive - undoubtly - even though its build quality & finish is much better it should be cheaper. The difference is especially noticeable with the camera models - the video cam model of LG is cheaper than simple still mode camera of Samsung!!!! 2. The Samsung colour model is miles better than the LG in most cases - buy the LG colour handset only if you need the extra phonebook space. (LG gives around 1000 vs 300 only for Samsung)! 3. The 4096 colour screen of Samsung is much much better than the 65k screen of LG - its the whole TFT vs. TFD deal. The Samsung screen outshines all other mobiles I've seen till date (GSM or CDMA)! 4. LG has more features & functionality built in but the menus are very hard to use and complicated. But it does allow more tweaking. 5. The LG keys really ****. Once again build quailty very poor & raw (points 4 & 5)!!! 6. GAMES - LG's games are better but not playable at all. Samsung -- what the $##% happened to your games!!! 7. Battery life - they both **** and big time --- overheating??? whats with that!!!! cant either of them make a decent battery. they last 10 minutes & can burn your hand if you use it long enough!!! Conclusion -- Samsung Colour phone is better than the LG. I wouldn't recommend the LG unless you need the phonebook space. But if you're going for the camera phones - LG RAWKES!!!!
  25. I have a Samsung A-563. BUT WHERE THE @#^& ARE THE GAMES!!! Couldn't find them anywhere!!!!
