We all do - sometimes for all applications and all the time for some applications. Recently (of course I haven't ventured into RWorld much the last few months) I noticed certain applications CRASH too!! Giving some NULL Java Pointer error or some $hit.

I don't think that 460 kbps is the actual speed he's getting. Windows might be showing that while he's connecting. Which can be actually set to show upto 960 kbps (which I've set ). And I'm thinking the way to go PDA is the E61. It's cheap and from first reports seems to be freakin good. Of course GPRS/EDGE speeds would actually determine how well email works. But from the looks of things I don't think it will be too bad (or to put it better much worse than RConnect).

Reliance Communication To Enter Gsm Services
anujit replied to abhay's topic in Reliance Communications
No they can't co-exist. Why would you want to compete against yourself? Why would you want to spend a over a $1 bil on a new system if you didn't think theres something wrong with the existing? Anil & Co have said the reason they are looking at GSM is because it is CHEAPER! Of course in country like India where operator-phone locking is frowned upon and RUIM doesn't seem like a good enough solution... there are major growth hurdles for CDMA long term. I personally think they'll sell their CDMA services within the next few years. Quite possibly after acquiring a established GSM player. -
the word VAIO there makes it sound more fishy!!!! VAIO is the brand name of Sony laptops & desktops ONLY. http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP....;Dept=computers You can check this link its Sony's site. They DONT have 8 GB USB flash drives. They do have a 8GB MicroVault drive though.

The speed of the mobile (not wireless land line) and the data card is theoretically the same. There might be differences based on how well each of them can handle signals, error connection etc. You can buy the cheapest Nokia phone that supports RConnect for your purposes (make sure you can use it with a USB port). You'll have to buy the USB cable separately. Of course you will have to get a voice plan + a data plan which makes it quite expensive. Alternatively you could look at GSM (EDGE) options as they tend to be much much cheaper (but a wee bit slower).
-
PCMCIA cards wont fit in a Expresscard slot. Check if RIM offers any of the data cards in Expresscard. If they don't you might have to go for a phone rather than a datacard.
-
ddr-2 has far better throughput and is much faster and more expensive than ddr ram.

Reliance Communication To Enter Gsm Services

So is the end of its CDMA plans? I cant see the value of investing probably over $1 billion in a system that competes with something you've already created (investing several billion $ I'm sure)!!!! -
3g Launch Delayed To Early '08
anujit replied to smartbuddy_82's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
3G isnt a failure at all. It's adoption rate was slower than expected thats all. Now all the major US carriers offer EVDO or HSDPA for high speed access. Even many European carriers are very successfully offering 3G services such as 3 (Ashok dude will verify this) and more. -
Reliance Comm, Hutch To Offer Blackberry Services

Swaroop: you make a good point my man. Looks like the Pearl is a GSM phone. -
gr8usr: After using a few camera phones... I can tell you that using a phone's cam is a pretty bad idea. Unless you go in for a premium phone (not just an expensive phone) that is very strongly focused on cam & music etc. (a phone with a carl zeiss lens and more...) you'll find such flaws in almost all cam phones! The thing is that when you take a picture of a subject the colour spots will disappear somewhat. But one shouldn't go out of the way to compare picture quality of a phone.

I don't think adding 256 MB RAM would help you much Tanveer. At the current prices you should go for 512 at least.

Angela Jolie's Bodyguards Call School Children Bloody Indians!
anujit replied to compenn's topic in The Lounge
Redshift dude: you're confusing him with Graham Steins who was burnt alive in Orissa along with his 2 kids. Pearl was killed by some Islamic terrorists in Pakistan. -
Thats very cool. This service has been around (VOIP calls over GPRS/EDGE/CDMA) for a while now, but not "integrated" with the phone/service provider. However 3G will be launched in India around mid 2008 at the earliest. So uuummmm...... really doesn't mean squat for us bloody Indians.

Angela Jolie's Bodyguards Call School Children Bloody Indians!
anujit replied to compenn's topic in The Lounge
Ummm firstly the bodyguards were apparently all BRITISH, not American. So cool down guys. I'm sure those guys hate Britain more than they hate India. And they were firing shots in school? WTF were they thinking. I'm glad they are arrested and they should be locked up for a while. And of course after some protests over the next few days by the BJP and Shiv Sena I'm sure AJ will apologise. And lastly, what is all you people (and tabloids like TOI) obsession with her? AJ rode an Auto rickshaw today, AJ stepped on a green leaf today, AJ looked directly at VT station today. WOOOHOOO. All this mass hysteria (incensed by rags like the TOI) over these "stars" is what causes all these riots and more in the first place. -
6255 - incoming & outgoing. for specific numbers or as a whole.

Reliance Comm, Hutch To Offer Blackberry Services
anujit replied to basant_jp's topic in Reliance Communications
Well yeah provided you're willing to shell out 20-40k! Most telecos in the US build the price of the phone into the monthly charge. So the upfront cost is usually between $100-300 depending on the phone and the number of years contracted for (usually 1-2 years). Will RIM do that? After 501 (remember that) probably not. -
It really depends on where you are. In Navi Mumbai, I've seen the connection speed fluctuate alot from 8kbps to 144kbps! So the speed of things is affected accordingly. I've use Yahoo's webcam and Google Talk for VOIP both work pretty well for the most parts.

Reliance Communications ties up with BSNL for Toll-Free Services
anujit replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Communications
All services should work across numbers.... 1-800 or premium call numbers or 100/101/102 and of course rail etc like 197 and more. I think this is a good step forward... but wtf was TRAI & the operators doing all this while! I dont have a landline and my office has TATA/RIl landlines... and this real was a PITA. I'm glad we are going to get 1-800 free soon on RIM. -
TUTORIAL: All Kinds of Restrictions for Windows XP
anujit replied to Vishal Gupta's topic in General Technical Discussion
You also get a lot of UI Tweakers that do this stuff for you. Some are free and some are paid. But they save you the trouble of remembering each registry command. Then again some people consider that a bad thing! -
Help Me In Installing Service Pack-2.
anujit replied to drali's topic in General Technical Discussion
If you already have XP why do you want to install XP w/ SP2 again on another partition? Get the 295 MB SP2 patch from somewhere (ask a friend with a broadband connection) and install the patch only. Your software will be perfectly safe. -
Well done man!!! Well done!!! But I cant believe those phuckers!!! 14kpbs speed if you download more than 750MB. The nerve!!!!
-
Chowdhary: the fault is clearly yours. Has little to do with Reliance. You cant deactivate your card and then later return back to plans that have been closed. Nobody will do that for you. Infact I think RIM has been quite nice in allowing people who had existing 1500/unlimited plans to continue with it instead of forcing them to change plans. However the website does show an unlimited plan for the data card. Talk to CC or WW again and clearly explain you're using a datacard. They are imbeciles and can quite easily confuse it for phone rates.
