I agree with you. Their customer service is pathetic!!! Total bogus and undermines the Tata name!!! I have been forced to take them because Airtel (though cheaper) didn't support my area in Bangalore. Initially their service ****ed - poor speeds and frequent downtime - till a point where I didnt have any connectivity for a week!!! Finally after many many calls to them (after every call they called me back at work and told me the problem was fixed, however when I went home and checked I found the same problem) they realised the problem was with a local connection point near my house and fixed it. Since then the speed has been great. Then last month I asked to upgrade my service from 128 to 256 kbps. They told me it would take 3 days. A week and several followups later they told me that it would take a month to change my plan!!! Finally they've change my plan. But only on paper..... I still have a 128 kbps connection. Which is really ridiculous. On one page of my account settings it shows that I'm on the 256kbps on the settings page it shows my connection as a 128 kbps connection. So more calls to them and more followups... lets see when I get an actually 256 connection.

Which phone do you have? I think all (or atleast the Samsung) the driver installers come with with a help file (usually a .chm) which gives you a detailed guide to uninstalling the old drivers. If you let us know the phone model we can help you better.

These guys are in overdrive in releasing products: 1. 2 versions of GD in a few months 2. picasa web 3. checkout 4. sketch-up (granted they didnt do much here) 5. spreadsheet 6. visible updates to gmail and obviously backend updates to google search 7. gtalk 8. a million other things!!!! In the same time MS is struggling to release 2-3 (albiet alot bigger and more complicated) products - Vista, Anti-virus, Office 2007! Of course the difference in company size (emp & financials) must be taken into account!

Yeah ZoneAlarm Firewall doesnt have any antivirus! I think you're talking about the ZoneAlarm Internet Suite. This has the firewall, anti-virus, spam filter and spyware tool built in. Its the best internet security suite there is today. Been rated as the best consistently for the last 2-3 years by PCMag, CNet & co. I have been using it for quite a while now, its got the best performance by far and one of the lowest memory hogs.

Its the big G for me for an all round experience. However would like some of the IM features of Gtalk to be improved on the Y lines!

The problem is that the loaded program is "locked" by OS when it is being executed. So it cannot be cleaned. Alternatively, (and this happened mostly during the DOS era) the program on the disk was cleaned but the infection still was there in the memory. So when the program was closed. The virus wrote itself back to the disk. Although virus architecture has changed its generally good practice to let it run by itself with minimum programs loaded in the memory.

Yeah ask him why you need to pay it. Let him justify that. Sometimes you might be asked to pay something as a performance/security guarantee. But 99.99% of the time its a fraud.

Frankly I'm quite disappointed with the IPB search tool. In short it s**ks. And it's probably one of the reasons why people keep repeating topics. Cant we integrate Google search with the forum? Google's contextual search is spectacular and will surely give much much better results. Also I'm sure it can be customised to search key fields as well such as date ranges, topic names, persons name and the like. As the forum grows a good search tool is essential otherwise we're just piling up information that we can never use! What say you programmers?

Also its a good idea to use web phishing detectors such as Firefox, AOL, Yahoo toolbars etc. And have a good anti-spam filtering tool for your pop3/imap email. I use Zone Alarm. Its pretty good. But most importantly - STOP BEING GREEDY. No you wont get rich quick. You're just a loser like everybody else!

How many of us have received such calls anyways? The only calls I've received from RIM are "why havent you paid your bill. do you want me to send a bhaiya to collect it" or "Sir you complained to RIM chairman's office. I wanted to know to get some feedback on that. On a scale of 1-5 how would you rate them"! Strange but a good move in the right direction!
