I've been using Reliance Sierra card since last two years but the speed has always been pathetic, then I moved with tata RUIM based connection and while RUIM doesn't have effect on the speed TATA for me works lot better than Reliance when it comes to net speed. I suggest you to try both in your area, the speed would fairly depend on how congested or subscribed the network of any service provider is in your city, for some tata may work well while for few Rim may be better.

Hi, I just purchased a handset from Sadiq and installed the AkU 3.5 from Hetal. Everything works like charm except I can't connect to the net using the WIFI. I tried every possible setting but it looks like WIFI would show connected but won't allow me to browse the sites and gives timed out. Any idea how to fix it ?

Just got a handset from Sadik...mine doesn't works for more than 6 hours even with turn off backlight timer on internal power is set to 30 seconds > Its a new no. and hence no talktime yet...just using it for accessing mails and our crm application for round 30 minutes during the entire charged duration...I bought extra battery from Sadik and even the other one's uptime is not impressive. Mine Nokia E61 gives me two days of uptime with my gprs + talktime . Are the batteries of my handset faulty or its same with everyone ?

Hetal thanks and pl. give me the generic CDMA USB modem drivers. Active sync is working well, but how to share the internet over it? thanks in advance. -prakash If you are running HETAL's ROM then you'll see an option to INTERNET SHARING in program menu. Connect your phone with the comp with USB cable > click at internet sharing > Under the PC connection drop down menu choose USB and then choose your network connection > Connect and done...you'll see a new network icon in your task bar which shares the net with your PC. Works well for me.

That's something which used to happen long back not now...your expressions are more with what you've heard & not something with facts, While Windows have its own shortcomings, Mac Os or for the matter Linux, Free BSD or Unix have their shortcomings and limitations as well. Poeple simply love to hate windows, you see more problems with it becuase its most widely used and hence its vulnerabilities are discovered more frequently ( and patched as well ) than the other OS's. This thread was not about APPLE or its limitations or the hatred some one have for Apple. (As I personally like & use some of their products) ..rather for IPHONE's shortcomings and if you read the posts of HETAL you'll notice that he very well described its features also. You seem to be a die hard fan of APPLE who loves it like a teenager loves the rock stars even if they don't have anything good within them other than their rock numbers... why don't you come out and speak the hard core tech things to justify your affinity, rather than criticizing someone's efforts to help others in their decision making process it would have been much worthwhile if you would have come up with posts which were made after doing some kind of homework to justify why some one should buy it rather than flaming people who knew more than what you know about iphone, kudos to Hetal who takes time to help this community by sharing his valuable insights....I simply don't understand what made you feel so bad with this post that you had butterflies in your stomach and rather than accepting the realities you started flaming a fellow member's opinion. I asked you to search a little about Hetal before criticizing about his logical expressions, now about me of knowing and not knowing much about Windows or Apple or Linux, of for the matter of being Bandar & adrak then you might like to search a little about my profile, I might not know much about either of them but we do have been taking care of hundreds of these little babies since years in datacenters across the different parts of world and have helped companies to manage critical web applications for thousands & thousands of their clients, I might not know 10 % of what you know about the OS's, phone & technology.. but I do deal and interact daily with lots of finest level 3 admins on Windows & Linux across the globe who master them or for the matter are experts on them. It seems you have enough time to spend trifling over the issues which are irrelevant & making pointless posts and probably take pride in making personal comments about other members ...may be you don't read the forum rules well. I think this thread has now gone off topic and any further posts is probably a waste of time. You can decide to post as much as you want expressing your love about iphone or apple ...I would like to read posts which have more sensible stuff than a discussion of blind love about a product ...uh..umm wasn't that supposed to be done with your date ?? All the best, take care and do send me your pic when you get your first iphone

Finally with all suggestions of turning off the back light, wifi off when not in use, bluetooth off and Hetal's latest ROM I'm able to stretch the standby upto 36 hours on my 6700. No regrets since I have an extra battery and with all the backups I can run the gear for 3 days without a need to charge

No one's criticizing IPHONE over here...its sad that this topic turned into a love & hate relationship with iphone while the topic starter started this topic with an idea to give information about shortcomings of iphone .. some people took it personally and started this love and hate war. Every kid knows about ipod and imac and to run either of them or use them doesn't makes anyone a geek or better than anyone else on this board...I myself wanted to buy iphone but may be with the reviews that are coming I would never buy it...I don't hold affinity for brands rather for functionality and always bow down to products which are superiors in terms of technology & features...not just looks alone. You might be right If you happen to be in Jaipur some time, give me a buzz & come over at my office .... may be your opinion would change..

Ya Ya Ya Ya..IPhone is the numero uno and we all love Iphone and now I can vouch, bet & swear that this is the best phone APPLE_Has_Ever_PRODUCED Bade Bhai,....bahut galti hui jo aapse jid liya...agar aap kahenge to apne signatures main bhi daal lunga ki Iphone is the best... BTW...when you are over with your love with iphone...read Hetal's posts across the forum and his valuable suggestions and contributions and may be you'll realize the shallowness of the statements you've made. I do not believe in setting up the flames but the people who are real asset to this forum should be treated well and given regard....just my 2 cents.. Be happy, turn on your Ipod. listen to some good music and enjoy your sunday

Eh mate....everybody has got the freedom to express and I don't think Hetal is doing any harm by telling you what Iphone misses.....he is quite logical with his reviews, This review is lot good for the people who might be hanging on to buy iphone and have postponed their decision to buy any other handset. I was curios to replace my Nokiae61 with this dumb apple device but now I won't I like your Robert Schuller kind of thinking to be postive with everything in life....but may be lot many like me and Hetal and others want to be realistic and find whats good and whats not when they want to spend their hard earned money... No reason to offend you but I don't see why you are in so much close affinity with something which has not even launched in India..or you trying to raise your post count...

I was able to squeeze full day with my battery once I turned off the WIFI, will try keeping wifi on for tom and check the uptime.

Not using it much on WIFI...its starts getting drained off even when all wireless except phone are turned off... I was wondering if this is with me or goes with everyone...

BTW ..if you're in Jungle make sure the Tigers & Lions over there don't get fascinated with your 6700 and comes running after you....if that happens give Sadik's phone no. and tell them to contact him only during American hours If they like the Phone ask them to Go After Hetal to put a Jungle theme in his next AKU and for any reasons they can't work out with WIFI don't give them my address work around with above settings and give them your phone

Hi Sunny, To remove Proxy settings > # From the Start Menu, select "Settings", then select the "Connections" tab. Select "Connections". # Select the Proxy Settings > Remove it if its turned on. To check if you have Wifi Problem > # From the Start Menu, select "Programes > Reg Editor > Choose the Ping Option > try pinging any site first by its name & then by Ip address for eg. you can try pinging rimweb.com and if that does gives result your settings for wifi are fine and net should work anyway now # If not then then try pinging the site by IP address > for eg. rimweb's IP is 67.43.0.135 # If you get the results then their's problem with your resolvers. # if you get results with the IP but not with the site's name then you'll have to give DNS entries to your network adaptor...generally it should be wireless ethernet in the wifi network settings. To do this Go to SETTINGS > WIFI > Network Adapters > Tiacxwin Wireless Ethernet > NameServers >I n the Name Servers tab type the following entries > DNS 208.67.222.222 Alt DNS 208.67.220.220 Make sure you put all values in their respective octet. Reboot the Device and try now. The above settings works for me, I have open access at my home for the wifi and at my office I keep the connection secure by network Key > If you are on a public hotspot you might require authentication key even if you can see the signals on your device. I tried to cover as much as I could remember, if you still can't connect post here and I'll try to help as much as I can.

Hi, Fixed.....My router was setup properly as I've always been able to connect my Nokia E61i & Notebook. To fix the WIFI issue I had to go to manage connections & edit the Proxy Settings > remove the proxy option. Since the Proxy Setting were enabled and hence my phone was locating the sites with the proxy. May be now my RConnect won't work if that uses proxy..I'm still waiting for my RUIM to arrive Thanks to Hetal's updated AKU...i was able to use ping & ipconfig to determine if it was a dns problem or the phone related issue, since I was able to ping the Ip's from the phone hence later it didn't took much time to resolve this. Once again thanks to all of you who took your time to help me and share your valueble insights. Sadik God Bless you ...you're a real gem ...he goes out of the way to help and assist his customers...and I can vouch for him if you plan to buy things from him Ravish
