LG RD 2030

I have the same problem with an aftermarket car charger for my LG RD 2030 and also a datacable I bought from ebay (that also charges the phone). I think it is a software problem because the following steps DO switch off the back light. 1. Plug in the charger first to the AC mains / car 12V cig. lighter output 2. Make sure keyboard is not locked. (Key Guard disabled) 3. Plug in the charger to the phone's dataport. (Backlight will come on and the batt. display will show a charging animation)) 4. Press the End key repeatedly (not sure how many times is required) 5. Do not disturb the phone for the backlight timeout period. U will notice that the back light goes off after some time. If for any reason, power is interrupted (power failure / starting the car), the backlight will come on again and the above procedure will have to be repeated. If somebody has a better solution to this problem with the 2030, PLEASE HELP! - C D M A n -

Credit Limit On Reliance Postpaid Subscribers
CDMAn replied to bellamkonda's topic in Reliance Communications
I have faced such "Extortion" from the Reliance Bhais too ! They even have a "nice" name for it.... "Interim Payment" My post paid bill is usually due on the 14th / 15th of every month... I typically receive the bill by the 7th of that month, but in anycase I check the online version much before I receive the print version... Recently I have been roaming a lot and my bills are a lot bigger than usual because of the incoming charges. The last 2 months, I have received multiple calls as early as the 20th of the month in which I have already paid, asking me to pay an amount for which the bill has not even been generated, forget that it would only be due on the 15th of the next month ! They threaten to bar outgoing calls... and they did it too... 2 weeks before the due date on the bill! That made my RIM useless when I needed it the most ! I called up customer care and spoke to the supervisors when the regular ppl could only parrot their pre recorded lines. I asked them the legality of it and asked to forward my complaint to someone in their legal dept. cuz my next action would be taking them to court and / or the press. Needless to say, they did'nt bother ! It seems that they have some amount of "Credit" for every post paid customer and mine was around Rs.2300 ... the minute I cross that, ougoing automatically gets barred. When it is approaching the limit, the system automatically sends SMSs to make an "Interim Payment" and also assigns 10ppl (who never meet) to follow up on the same case ! All this for a customer who has paid each and every bill on time ! I feel like a real succer when I hear about those ppl who dont pay 5 digit outstanding amts and get away scot free ! What's the secret guys ? <CDMAn> -

My local cable op in Thane provides the infrastructure (Hubs + Wiring) and we have a choice of 2 - 3 ISPs over the network. I have used Exatt and Pacenet: 1. Exatt throughput is PATHETIC... even if you subscribe for one of their "High" speed packages, performance is P - A - T - H - E - T - I - C ! I dunno if my cable op is shortchanging us by buying low bandwidth and still charging us the high bandwidth charges. 2. Pacenet at least delivers 64K when I pay for 64K, but for higher speeds they fall short by 20% - 30% Reliability is average to poor... mostly because the local network infrastructure is a fragile web of hubs and wires (no switches or routers) hooked up from building to building... if the network goes down on a Friday after 5pm, the local "tecnicians" will not bother with it till Monday afternoon ! Basically there is a lot of "goondagiri" when it comes to the cable business and no ISP can come into a home in Thane via cable without getting the blessings of the local cable op. Still... it is cheaper than MTNL cuz of the unlimited downloads... but dont bank on it.. always keep a backup route to the internet.

You can't connect via. a cross over cable simply because the RJ45 port on the FWP is actually a serial port (a.k.a "COM" port) while your LAN card has an "Ethernet" port. They are completely different technologies... 1. the LAN port uses 2 twisted pairs, one for transmit and another for receive, the serial port uses 2 separate lines for TX and RX (not a pair). 2. Voltages are diffrent for both techs... so don't even try plugging your phone into your lan ! You could end up screwing up either 1 or both ! 3. The signal encoding is different... LANs use what is known as "Manchester Encoding" (search Google ) while serial ports use straight voltages to represent 1s and 0s ( + / - 12V I think) 4. The speeds are different by a factor of 10 - 100 ! LANs go from 10 Mbps to 100Mbps (typically) while your serial port can do about 150Kbps Don't sweat it.... just go and pick up an FWP data cable from Bazee... now ebay.in... u get 'em there at under INR 50 !
