Purchased HTC Desire S last week. It is a good handset but there is one serious issue: GPS does not work / works erratically . Sometimes get 2-3 satellites, it is not constant. Tried with Appications like GPS status, GPS fix etc and even cleared GPS state with these softwares but nothing works. Where as my HTC Hero locks to 7 to 8 satellites within few seconds at the same location Please help.

RCDMA used to one of the best mobile network in India. The curse for RCDMA network is that they had to temper with RCDMA towers to accomodate GSM equipment there. GSM towers can support CDMA and vice-versa (with signal converter). Our office building first had Airtel tower for in-building-coverage. Recently Rcom tied up with Airtel to share same tower. When we told our recent past problems with RCDMA, site engineers said that RCDMA is still covering India like no other network but their choice of equipment and maintainence is big problem. Recently their was new in many newspapers that Rcom is also thinking of giving complete network care contract to ones like Ericsson, nokia etc Just like Airtel doing for last many years. So may be our problems are resolved sooner than later.

No doubt, AIRTEL gives good download speed and service but at quite high prices. I am using MTNL Triband at my office for last 4 years 100% satisfied with speeds and service wit almost zero downtime. Dear Friends, We all are aware that availability of new handsets at reasonable cost is big issue with CDMA. Please compare cost of GSM Corby with CDMA Corby there is price difference. Compared to GSM touch screen handset range, Corby speed CDMA looks primitive. My suggestion is that: users who want full-featured handsets at reasonable costs should wait for Mobile Number Portability (MNP). Then we can migrate to any good GSM service provider. I wanted to upgrade from my Nokia6275 to Corby speed, but after seeing the handset features etc, put my purchase on hold and waiting for MNP. Regards

Thanks for providing the detail now the whole story who are the leechers and so called leechers: I had messaged and called Mr. Dkaile considering his knowledge, to know which are the suitable handset to get from US/Canada as one of my contact was coming from there. Instead of telling me about handsets Mr. Dkaile said it will be trouble activating and ho sakta hai gale ki ghanti hojaaye. I asked if he can get one for me, that he can get Hero for me ONLY if I order TWO (2) handsets @ Rs.18000 each. Mr. D Kaile said : par ye baat forum mein nahi pata lagni chahiye. I agreed to keep the talk upto me (but sharing coz i am forced to). I talked to one of my friend here at Thane and he agreed. When I told my friend here (purchaser) that we will have to first deposit Rs. 5000 each in to Mr. Dhiraj Kaile's Meerut account, my friend backed off (why he backed off Mr. Kaile has already mentioned but in much worst way to get form sympathy). I called MR Dhiraj Kaile that my friend has backed off so can we go ahead with one set. He became very very rude saying: yaa to 2 sets ya ek bhi nahi ho sakta etc. etc. I SMSed him saying that I did not say something to make him talk so angry and rude. He realised that he is loosing the deal he SMSed me that: he has got another buyer at his place so if i deposit the money then deal is ON. (ALL SMS from his NUMBER are with ME as proof). I thought if a person can be so rude even before getting money, what will happen when I deposit Rs.5000 in his account. I have one more proof : Dr. Muffadal. I had asked the same question: which handset to get. He politely said I get Hero and forum will help in activating. This can be confirmed by Dr. Mufaddal. After reading so many positive feedbacks on the forum for Sadikk bhai, I thought it is better to buy local whatever the price than repenting later. I am happy that I bought from Sadikkbhai. There was misunderstanding about Rs.500 with Sadikkbhai for which I immediately called him and said that whenever next time I am towards Dadar/Mahim I will pay him that. About this our ESTEEMED and RESPECTED Mr. Dkaile says I ran away with the handset without paying. (Sadikkbhai can confirm what the truth is???? If you have genuine concern for the forum members and know such people than you must disclose their name in the forum. This will help others to keep off such leechers. Already there is so much regionalism going on in our country so it would be better if political type comments are kept away from the forum.

Dear Friends, Very important an interesting discussion going on. I feel too much tinkering with the existing format will lead to repelling new members. As far as talks about leechers I would like to say: people can share an much as they know. It would be unfair on our part to expect people who are using imported (Sprint etc) handsets for the first time, contribute to technical discussion??? People come here to get latest info and for solutions to their problems and many of them in due course start sharing their experiences and knowledge with forum also. Most important: Techies here are contributing wonderfully sharing their knowledge, helping people. It is for all of us and especially who get help/guidance from them to ALWAYS acknowledge with thanks. My personal experience is that this forum is blessed with extremely sharing and helpful people. Dear Firends, I have read many articles on that Firmware Update 1.56.651.2 from Sprint helps a lot in resolving lot many issues with Hero. Shall we go for it if available?????. Would it help or hinder the rooting in future etc etc. Regards

As per my experience I recommend ALL HTC Hero users to Upgrade software to Version 1.56. BIGGEST advantage is phone AWAKE time goes down to 15-20% even if we keep network access ON. It was 80-85% before this update. After phone restart I started getting MUTE buttons on screen while making calls. (earlier I had reported that it was available even after update, so a correction to my earlier post) Regards

I downloaded the RUU 1.56 and updated my handset. Done today morning itself but still feel Awake time is less than before. But Bluetooth problem still remains. No MUTE icon appered on phone display (as claimed by many thru OTA update). Regards

I agree technical discussion are very very important. Actually technical discussions are soul of any forum. But buy-sell is also required. Buy sell sections would flourish more if technical discussions are their for support. So, members are confident that they can get some support after buying handsets.
