Idea Cellular Charging For Customer Care Calls
sgiitk replied to savramesh's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Crazy idea. Also, if they need to upgrade the complaint it may take a few minutes for the higher executive to come on line. -

Updated: 3G Auction completed after 34 days of bidding
sgiitk replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Two reasons: 1. Try and save the monopoly of the sarkari cows - BSNL, MTNL. They are running scared of the out migration from these. 2. Someone did not get the baksheesh. -
I will try uninstalling the software, clean up the registry and ini files and then install the software again.

Looks like a problem in the USB hardware detection. Did you by any chance not remove the installation before installing SP3?

Reliance Communications Crosses 100 Million Subscriber Mark
sgiitk replied to M.S.Rao's topic in Reliance Communications
I think over reporting is endemic in the Industry. Many people took lifetime SIMs and have not used many of them for ages. But this is true for all the networks. Makes you wonder as to how many countries have a 100m (or even 80m) population? -
How To View Bsnl Bills Online?
sgiitk replied to ayaz_cool's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
While I have no trouble with the mobile bills (as and when they post them in their own sweet time), but the fixed bills I have never been able to see online. This month I could not log in on Reliance myservices to get my mobile bill, so had to use the quick pay for the e-mailed bill. -
Trust Sadikk bhai to get you the latest and greatest at an excellent price. Of course you can forget BIS and BES. My son bought an Android HTC from him and is pleased no end.

Vista Reboots When Plugging Reliance Netconnect Broadband+

I fully agree with ACS, Also, you may try the latest cure all (Win7) -
Movie: I bought the canon Legria200 for my daughter and son in law. I think it is excellent. It is card based (only) and excellent. Still: I recently bought a Canon Powershot SX120IS and love it. the SX20IS is even greater but then costs about 10k more. To me penlight cell operation is a must.

Thanks. I had tried earlier before cribbing with no success. Did it again and it worked. Now I will reset my password to a more humanly understandable one

Quite unreliable. Let me illustrate 1. My daughter was returning from the UK. Flight was late. So I sent her an sms (her Airtel lifetime number)hoping that by the ack I will know when the flight has landed. Delivery & Ack next day. I was quite surprised when she called, and we know. 2. She had a Tata Indicom in Delhi - acks never came. 3. My son has a Reliance (CDMA) in Manipal. Mail gets delivered fast, acks may take an hour. 4. Reliance - BSNL totally random (I have both)

I will take Nokia any day. Nokia maps is junk. I have a 5320 (5800 minus WiFi, and Video Calls and a few other bits). Nokia could never lock on to the GPS. Switched to Google Maps - no sweat. A friend in Chennai with a 5800 had same problem. Also, navigation etc. on Nokia is not free. We are sticking to Google Maps. Also, off topic -- some time back I got a sms regarding a free App to make the sensor into a spirit level / tiltometer. Have lost it. Any updates here.

I am surprised that they did not launch the Nexus One with Firefox already on it.

Mobile Nos Starting With ‘7′, Soon!
sgiitk replied to nayasaroj's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
The only problem is that as usual BSNL will take ages to recognise these numbers. My daughter in Kolkata is 9088.... I cannot call her on BSNL - Please check the number you have dialled or This number does not exist. Always engaged on Fixed! No problems with Reliance. Also she can call with no problems. I raised the matter with a DGM level person when he was here, he could not dial on his mobile as well - result she got a call from him checking on the problem and then Zilch. So those getting these new numbers must make sure they have no BSNL callers! -
Nro Says Only 10% Ipv4 Addresses Remaining For Allocation
sgiitk replied to kesav's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
That is the way to go. However, there is reluctance to make the switch. Win Vista and 7 both support IP6. I did hear that there may be issues in running IP4 and IP6 at the same time. -
How about the 5800! Very similar and it is a touch!

Updated: 11-digit Mobile Numbers By 2010 - '9’ to be prefixed to all existing numbers
sgiitk replied to Sadikk's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
I think BSNL has been reusing numbers for ages. This was why I kept on getting calls for the previous holder for quite some time. I am all for a three digit STD code followed by a 7 digit number, i.e. 10 digits in all. I am sure this will accommodate places like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata etc. who all have two digit STD codes at the moment! -
As we know the manufacturers have agreed on a universal power connector for all mobiles. I understand that it is a sub-miniature D connector (similar to the USB connector on some brands). My questions are: 1. Exact details of the connector / specifications? 2. Which vendors / models already have these? 3. When do these connectors become mandatory?

Saw the advt in the TOI about a Samsung Handset for both Reliance & Tata. It mentione something like an OMH SIM card being used. What is this card? How does it differ from the RUIM card? Is it specific to Samsung? What is its availability and pricing? Does it indicate a trend that CDMA will become as open as GSM?
-
@moneyboy - Do I surmise that all newer RUIMS are OMH or there is still a catch! If so one need to simple cange the RUIM 5o a new one and is in business for any Open Market Handset.

To me it looks like a case of a bad contact. He essentially ensured that the contact became good. mark the word AGAIN in his post there.

Updated: 11-digit Mobile Numbers By 2010 - '9’ to be prefixed to all existing numbers
sgiitk replied to Sadikk's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
I think they want to keep 9 as the startingt digit for mobiles. I have come across mobile numbers starting with 8. I think by the time they are done with 8 (and maybe) 7 the country will be well nigh blanketed. But then, our Govt. agencies are never bothered about the consumers in any case? -
Given the divergence between @mukeshlst and @sougatadc it could be the ambient temperature or the local signal strength which determines what you get. Thus on may say that we are at the threshold, and then it depends.
