ok ! i guess orange has already started converting their network code to Hutch . My Orange (ex) phone now shows Hutch ( na.. i havent downloaded the Hutch logo from 6565 ), but my mom's cell still shows Orange ... Maybe they are doing it in phases.. The customer care and the service reply always mentions "your hutch prepaid account". But why are they turning PINK ???? eeeoowww !!!
-
As far as I have heard ( from inside sources at Orange ), the date is supposed to be 1st Jan, 2006. They are planning to shut down the Orange network by 2100 hrs of 31st Dec, 2005 and restart the network at 0100 hrs of 1st Jan 2006 with HUTCH as the operator logo. BPL Mobile ( recently merged with Hutch - yet with Essar ) will follow suit in March 2006. The date for that network merger is yet unknown.

As far as roaming cost implications are concerned, I feel it wont cost much. Roaming with private operators would definitely be more expensive than roaming with BSNL. Thus, the roaming charges would be a lot less with BSNL. Since MTNL subscribers pay Rs.2.50 as incoming charges, BSNL wouldnt mind to take around 3 - 4 bucks as incoming charges for private operators... Wtsay ? Mere speculation !
-
chiragbhai, ekdum sahi question puchhelay bhidu ! Answer bhi ekdum simple aur jhakkas hoenga ! Till now, BSNL's network was restricted to only MTNL subscribers. So if you were a BPL customer, you couldn't possibly roam into areas with BSNL as the sole cellular network. With the authority however making it mandatory soon for BSNL to allow other subscribers to access its network - its pan India network USP won't be a proposition just for the PSUs subscribers, but also for the private ones. Thats the secret man !!! When that happens, its gonna be C O O L !!!

Well, I vouch for TRUMP. Great service plus its cheaapppp !!! There's a funny rumour going around. My friend who stays at Kanjur Marg has a dolphin (postpaid) and a trump(prepaid) card. He insists Trump has better coverage than Dolphin... Funny and I don't buy that ! The network's full in my area - Dombivli . It rocks...... My life has become soo cool with trump barring the ocassional mid nite network problems for a couple of hours. Anyways, I dont have a gf, so kisse baat karu raat ko ?? Sexygurl, oooooo .. im paranoid of you !!!!! Don't pounce on a baccha like me .... Mein bhola bhala baccha hoon and a STAUNCH GSM SUPPORTER TOO

I am not being rude, but then these sort of discussions I would like to call RIM chauvinists. Coz all are SAME. No more, no less. Just a few days back, RIM subscribers were complaining of poor network & call drops. Some people were even talking about repeated compaints and yet no action taken in regards of "BTS" (have no idea what that is, must be something related to network). What I have found after some months on this forum is people belittling other service providers. Is RIM so competitive, so much ahead of others ? If that was so, why would the rest of the providers have so many subscribers. BPL's problem at Mantralaya has been solved it seems - my friend uses BPL and the network is at its optimum best. Orange and Airtel will join the bandwagon soon... Lets not be so unfair to others and look down on them !

ASHOK, Thanks a lot ....................

For those of you who are planning to change over to the Freedom@Night Plan - please do remember that its a path of no return Once you convert from the default plans that exist on you phone to the new plans, you cannot revert to the original plans. Till date, not many of ppl I knw are too happy with the new plans for rconnect. Thus, it sure is risky to opt for newer stuff. Wait for sometime till u finally decide to jump in. Cheers, Harshad !

Who said that mobile batteries run for just a hour ??? I use a LG 2130 RConnect (Phone-cable-laptop) connection and my phone rocks on for a minimum of 3 hrs atleast, b4 getting me to feed him electricity.... So mobile battery definitely lasts longer than 3 hrs..... Guess RIM should introduce mobile charging through laptop USB so that RConnect can run even longer....

it seems im one lucky dude... i carried my RIM today while I was travelling around Mumbai and lucky me - no network problem atleast in Mumbai Circle. There was a lil' outage at Diva for a couple of seconds, however, I had more than 3 bars on my lg 2130 across Thane, Ghatkopar, Dadar, Vile Parle, Borivali. The only place where I had a little problem was at Vasai ( roaming ) ! An incoming call got grr grr grr grr in between and it dropped . Fortunately, not much of a problem for me. As far as Dombivli is concerned, I am enjoying full network in all areas.

Done that! 46283 MERCI TRES TRES BEAUCOUP Now I can be ME

can u plz change my username from ' spookie ' to a plain ' harshad ' ? thanks a lot !

hmmmm have seen one tower in andheri saki naka?? where else have u guys seen it 46166 I have seen one each at Prabhadevi, Dombivli & Kalyan. Someone said Reliance should have around 100 towers in Mumbai. That seems a lil' too many. However if there are really 100 cell sites in Mumbai, then its a lot better. Anyways, me havent faced Network Busy anytime.
-
any idea as to how many towers Reliance has for its Mumbai circle ? if a single CDMA tower covers 110 kms, then I guess the whole of Mumbai from Colaba to Bhayander / Kalyan / Panvel should be covered in just 1 tower !
-
reliance entering mumbai with their gsm service seems highly unlikely. How can they afford to give competition to their existing venture out here ? Na. I don;t think thats possible. It has to be either IDEA or SPICE. I would love the latter to come, since its damn cheap.
-
Well well well, so u have a nokia 6225 and think, its "not worth the price" ! And that you want to shift to a more decent LG 2430 which is "worth its price". Tell me, y did u buy the 6225 in the first place ? Fine, now u want our opinions regarding ur intentional move. I can say only two things - u r amazing and ur intentions are seriously weird ! You may have reasons justifying ur intentions, but I can't really make any sense out of this. Why do you want to move to a dabda from a cool dabba ? Agreed, the price for a 6225 may be much more - but then look at the features - color screen, FM, R connect, R World. Does that greenish screen phone provide you with all these things ? Presuming you sell ur 6225 to buy that 'handsome' 2430, wouldn't u be making a loss in the sale ? I seriously think, its not worth the effort. If you still decide to go with it - your choice.
-
Well, The on-net free sms forum for RIM users seems a good idea ! Can we have the same for GSM peeps also ? Say, we could exchange same city numbers so that it wouldnt be so expensive afterall .............. Hope this would be welcomed positively ( a little on the doubtful side though ) and supported wholeheartedly.
-
hey rajan, forgot me ? well, that im mostly in the general section seems to lead to this. anyways, a few words of praise / candid comments would really do me some good. hehe.. kidding dude. comments invited, though ! And u can BLAST me off if u feel like !
-
hahahahaha and grrrrrr too ! this topic comes under the purview of General Chat. I presume I am talking about stuff other than RIM. So, I guess, it shouldn;t be problematic either.
