thanks a lot guys ! feeling a tad sad about leaving the "teens" behind, but life would definitely have more in store in the "twenties". heheeh .. thanks a lot n ashok, yes, a party is on the cards for the rimweb brethen in Mumbai.

Dude ! If you purchase a top up card for Indicom and plan to use it the whole 2 years for outgoing, its just NOT possible. I brought home one of their leaflets today & went through the terms & conditions. It clearly states that - incoming would be free for 2 years. For outgoing, one will have to purchase recharge vouchers. However, the vouchers will be bound by their respective validities also. Say, i plan to topup my card with Rs.50 voucher and plan to get 45 rs in return, this would be valid for just ONE day. I cant use it for whole 2 years. If I buy a 330RCV with 200rs talktime, then my outgoing will be valid for a month - not a day after that....... So, the topup thing really doesnt work for a whole 2 years. Thats the problem

So less SIM cards in the market, yet so many problems. Imagine the condition when it offers more SIMs. I took a MTNL trump for roaming into Maharashtra BSNL. Incoming calls were getting blocked, outgoing calls were going grr grrr and only sms was activated. I agree with you on one point - its CHEAP ! (the backward way )

hey Ashok is it a wild guess, or is it really coming. If yes than I would be really happy 44124 Hutch confirmed.... Reliance (one of their employees leaked the info... ) Cheers Ashok 44225 Ashok, BPL already has 1 second billing. So, in Mumbai atleast, HUTCH might continue 1 second billing for both BPL n Orange from 1st Jan, 2006. U work4hutch, rite ?
-
The Orange - BPL network merger is going to happen shortly. By Jan 1, 2006 , BPL and Orange will give way to a single operator name - HUTCH ! Will Mumbai get a new operator specially after the two different networks merge into one. It would be cool if IDEA enters Mumbai. What do you guys think ??

You are talking about the Airtel One Local plan. There's a 25 rs rental for that. IF you want to confirm, log on to www.airtel.in or call up customer care .... Otherwise, the standard plan is what i have mentioned before called as the Airtel One Plan. Im fed up with Orange, bought an Airtel Card today. Lets hope this has got' better.

Hmmmm ... seems a stupid model to u, but i c some logic in it... there are niche users like me who would like to talk to someone - but too kangal or simply kanjoos to literally call up someone and then talk over to him for a whole ten minutes.. What I would possibly do in those situations is ask the opposite guy to call me back ( calling from a "cell" seems a good excuse and often works for me ) ! So that way, I may spend a max of, say 50-60 paise on that. Y shud i pay for a whole minute worth of call ? Thats the logic dude..... Pay cash only for the time ( in secs ) that u talk.... & more importantly, this seems ONLY for the Niche user - who wont talk minutes n minutes on the fone... This is my version of justifying Tata's 1 sec billing !

i dnt have any idea where you stay and why u feel airtel is better, but here's a genuine comparison for these operators in Mumbai.. Orange : To all local phones - 1.99 To all local GSM phones - 0.99 ( on payment of Rs.25/month) Airtel : To local AIRTEL phones - 1.00 ( thats good ! ) To other local phones - 2.25 ( thats OUTRAGEOUS !!!! ) To local cell phones - 1.00 ( 25rs rental ) ! Though no more in Orange's favour, compared to Airtel, I feel Orange is moderately priced.

With much fanfare I shifted to Orange from BPL's campus zone card thinking it would be cool to be on orange - afterall most of my friends use orange, but i was wrong..... Bhutes mentioned that he had some serious problems with Orange network - im not too keen to accept it graciously for I was the Orange loyalist, but no more !!! The network in my area has been dropping continuously. Sometimes, with all bars it tells me no network coverage when I try to call someone / check my balance. Continous call cracking, call drops have become too common. I am seemingly becoming frustrated with their service. I plan to return to my faithful BPL, my friend for more than a year now. Today, within 3 hrs, my balance dropped from 26rs to minus 34 rs.... No idea how this happened. I really hope BPL doesn't lose its service after merging into HUTCH as a common network.. Im badly frustrated now !!

hey linux, which area of mumbai do u stay in ???

Can't really explain the phenomenal rise in Airtel's subscriber, a little fishy there , but wouldn't definitely recommend Airtel to anyone. Hear me out - AIRTEL's bad and expensive - only worth taking if you have your friends and relatives on airtel. The customer care s****, offer activations / processing take a long time, and suddenly one day, your balance may even fall abruptly for no reason whatsoever. My personal experiences of all these trials and tribulations with Airtel made one fact eternal : That I HATE Airtel. It is the worst ( on par with trump ) service. P.S. - well, i forgot network congestion, so include that too !!!! And you can send MMSs to only Airtel phones - not even to any email addresses - how insane can that be ? atleast they should allow it to be sent to email addresses, if not other carriers !
-
bhutes, www.gawab.com offers 2048 MB i.e. 2 GB of free email storage with 50MB of email attachments. Its an egyptian webmail in english, however, having used it for quite some time now, its truly FANTASTIC.... Good service..... Try it out

dude since i am a hardcore downloader i was thinking of goin for sify 256 kbps night unlimited(10 pm - 8 am) for RS 995 + taxes othere schemes avaliable over here are Pacenet Sify these are the only connections avaliable in my area, apart from the expencive wireless options rconnect and other wireless connections like datacards / tata phones / airtel gprs are far too expensive connections just for downloding 43846 as far as my experience with Sify "Broadband" goes, i can only describe it in one word - "WORST" ! Worst in terms of service, worst in terms of technical support, if you face power cuts anytime ( then thrz no connection available ) n bla bla bla..... Top of it, their customer care is based in Chennai where they can;t even speak proper english and it surely takes time for you to make thm understand ur problem. Coming to problems, SIFY SERVER bangs dead many many times..... Its not at all reliable......... If u need more explanations / reviews, do visit mouthshut.com and surf thru the reviews there. Unless u want to spend much and avail of a pathetic service, i wouldnt suggest u sify in any form - neither dialup nor "broadband" ! The choice is urs.
-
Don't even think of SIFY ! It s**** BIGTIME. I shifted from Sify to RConnect and Reliance's service rocks !
-
Ashok, he stays in KANDIVALI EAST. What does he mean by 'Reliance doesnt serve his area' ? Maybe he's talking about Reliance broadnet or something ! Thats pretty strange considering the fact that Broadnet is already finding live connections in DOMBIVLI . Maybe R Connect can help him as a wireless connection ........

Orange is a very reputed brand in the Mumbai telecom scenario. Amongst the GSM operators, Orange is regarded as the best. Its tariffs are decent enough. The VAS rock and Orange has a huge subscriber base. The only thing ( i wd say a little bad ) is that to get to the customer care executives, u must be ready to listen to their brand music for quite a time on the phone. However, once you get through to them, its a breeze and you can be well assured that your complaints would definitely be solved. Quite a lot of humanity has had problems with Orange billing ( me too ), however, if r not kangal like me for most of the month and can afford a little expensive brand, Orange is THE service provider for you...... Good ppl !!!

does Reliance offer data communication via RConnect even when roaming ??? I am a Mumbai subscriber. Would I enjoy RConnect even when I am under roaming in Maharashtra. Anyone for a quick reply !
-
hey !!!!! in abhay's posting, Total subscriber base for Tata is said to be 5.6 million. Thats alright. Reliance's subscriber base has been posted wrongly at 1.35 million instead of 13.5 million...... Make the changes please.... The nos look pathetic otherwise. The decimal has been put up in the wrong place !!!!!! - Harshy !
-
99 and 97 are also for Airtel & Hutch respectivly in Bengal ( leaving Kolkata) And netwrk codes are 405(IND) instead of usual 404(INA) 43400 Chiragbhai, indeed true !!!
-
Despite this amazing offer, i still think TATA will have fewer subscribers ( who would actually opt for Tata coz of this scheme ) than Reliance or other GSM networks. TATA's network is not that trustworthy. Though this month's nos show a greater number of subscribers ( 4.75 Lacs ) for Tata vis-a-vis Reliance's ( 4.01 lac) , I am quite sceptical as to how much TATA can really succeed !! As for my opinion, Reliance rules the CDMA roost !

the airtel gprs that u r talking about is available on prepaid also or only postpaid.... seems to me that it would be on postpaid only though .. the speed and the rate seems decent enough. Can i use my 3200 to avail of these GPRS services on my PC using a datacable ?? A Quick reply would be appreciated . Vielen Dank !

Number Portability Implementation in India
Harshad replied to niket's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
my vote goes to HUTCH* ! ( Includes BPL Mobile Mumbai & Orange ) Reliance is pretty good, but I wouldn't want to be bogged down by a service provider and most importantly the same handset ( alrite, i knw u ppl will say that change in handset is possible, still ! ). Airtel, reports say is the number one provider, however has all its existing numbers coming up on new packs. What i mean is, after discussion with my mobile dealer, airtel's subscriber base is slowly plummeting due to higher tariffs vis-a-vis its competitors ! Recently I bought a 98920 series number for my friend here in Mumbai. Considering the amount of subscribers that they claim to have, they should have had to have atleast two new number series. The latest is 9867. Airtel S**** ! BPL's also good, though I have included it in HUTCH itself. Reliance need not really worry about Airtel. GSM Subscribers like me would rather vouch for CDMA Reliance rather than GSM Airtel...... My prefs are : 1.) Hutch 2.) Reliance 3.) Trump 4.) Tata 5.) Airtel -
hi. want to buy this fone.. seems a fantastic deal. i have 2 questions : 1.) whats the current price in Mumbai ? 2.) will i be able to send a MMS to an email address ?? ( otherwise not much use to me !! )
