^These DTH types are already existing and not the one mentioned by TRAI. They charge hefty amount and limited channels as compared to the new one announced. When Govt. announced the new Cable STB system, all these oldies have taken a new avadhar as if they are the new TRAI's mentioned. The Dish + STB as a set are mostly offered free by almost all DTH service providers (On Returnable Basis) and charged initially for installation of the Dish as 'One time Installation Cost'. From TRAI's recommendations, No. of channels offered were more thru Cable Network + STB (and NO Dish at user end) with Digital quality at competitive rates and pay channels for what you opt, at affordable prices.

Yet to spend for any maintenance - touch wood First surprise got when they gave a Bill for about Rs.1500 after the first paid service. Charges were for consumables, it is also written in the booklet. Prompt reminders will be given by them for service dues. They contact you for feedback on the service done but even if you make a complaint against the service done, they will not get back to you later! Don't expect a Royal treatment at the Dealer point's service stations - in Ford currently lowest model is Figo & over populated. Capacity of the particular service centre remains the same but branches increased at different odd locations. We need to check each point discussed when giving for servicing & while taking delivery. In Chennai, couple of Cable TV Operators started collecting Rs.500 per STB.

kindly please read my post again. my parental house belongs to original Conditional Access System (i.e. STB based) area and I have experienced it for nearly a decade. I can assure you that you DO NOT get better signal quality through cable based STB. Decade old STBs - earlier used - were analog and what we are suppose to get now is Digital STBs. In Chennai also, we earlier used analog STBs and quality was better compared to direct Cable supply. Then we switched over to DTH and found still a better quality. Hence, sure the Digital STB offered now has to enhance the picture quality. Does the regularly being used Coaxial cables also contributes any roll in this picture quality? Do the Service providers are suppose to use Optic cables now to provide the assured superior quality or not?

Today Arasu Cable run by Tamilnadu Govt. has announced the price as Rs.500 /STB for Cable Network Operators.

Can we have our own STB or the one provided by Cable TV Operator only has to be used? Since it is already Digital, does it also require HD quality? Is your STB is HD Quality with Recording facility? or on what basis you have selected this STB? How much you paid for this STB? Is it locally available or imported?

@digitalnirvana I am getting EVDO (China Net 3G) connected using Reliance CDMA Prepaid SIM. @kanagaDeepan Tried again & even removed the SIM and inserted again to try but it didn't get thru. Bad luck for me Sure, it will be very helpful if it works to send the allowed 200 SMS / day. Pls. try to get a solution. Thanks.

RAM also need to be tested - possible that it w'd have jumped out of the slot or dust prevents the contacts. Just remove the RAM, dust it out and fix it in the slot properly and start the PC.

How about us - non-Mumbaites?

I got my 1.5T A/c delivered with standard packing locally (from Chennai only) and not from the company's factory outlet. Most likely such big items Sales' advised to the brands Zonal Distibutors' - so you get it locally delivered from stock avl there & not all the way from the brands' factory outlet. Thats why with minimal packing without any damage we are getting the product.

This is not correct. I do call twice a week to UAE using GTalk. And also receive call from there. They use proxy servers & configure but as mentioned by Mr. Niraj it is illegal to use in Saudi & Gulf.
