##786# or even *#*#786#*#* are not working. Any workaround to access this menu?

If you mean hard reset through recovery menu, I have already done that.

Gurus please help me. I was using GSM sim with this handset and it was working fine with voice & data both. Just out of curiosity, I entered the Network testing menu - see first picture. Then I changed the radio band to "USA band". - see pics 2 & 3. Now, I have tried all permutations & combinations of radio band (i.e. USA Band & Cellular) with different "network types". But it is just not connecting to the network. The sim is OK because the same sim works in other handsets. I even did hard reset but still no luck.

I received system update notification on my Desire 816 today. It is an update to Android 6.0. I will download it later today.

I have an imported model of 802 dual sim (not sure about country of origin). Of late (since 4-5 days) I am experiencing this problem of network signal loss intermitently. Now the frequency of signal loss has increased to once every few minutes. Is any one else also facing similar issue? Any solution?

I can see that available RAM has also increased from ~400MB earlier to ~500MB. Means Lollipop is lighter on memory too.

My phone received Android 5.0.2 OTA update yesterday (total size was appx 860MB). Not many visible changes except introduction of lock screen notifications. UI now seems a little more fluid.

Since your SIM works fine in another handset and another working sim does not work in your handset, its pretty much obvious that problem is in your phone. I suspect the sim slot could be the culprit where it is not making proper contact with the sim card. I would advise you to get it checked at a HTC service center.

I tried. It accepted same password that I have set for screen unlock.

Truecaller reveals your identity to any stranger having your mobile number. Conversely, anybody can search for any random number and get name of the owner (of the number). It too dangerous, really.- 6,376 replies

Buy Samsung original. Or any branded one. I suggest Samsung only because it is the most widely available brand. I have used chargers of Samsung, HTC, Palm Pixi, even Galaxy Tab 2 with my Razr M and all work fine.

Probably the wires are so thin that voltage drops (due to higher than normal resistance) below the acceptable level. Since it takes some time for the wire to get hot and resistance to increase, hence this behavior of 30 sec start and stop. But in case of data transfer, a very miniscule amount of current flows so it works.

It means your old phone is in switched-on condition. I also faced the same problem and my service requests also got closed two times. You can try this, no harm in trying once. Switch off your old phone first. Then reboot your new phone and then check.

Whenever I use my OEM charger on a train, the touchscreen locks up. I feel it is not just the type or make of charger but also the condition of mains power that plays a role. Otherwise, at home I have OEM chargers of Samsung mobile, Samsung tab 2, HTC, LG and Palm Pixi. I use all these interchangeably and all wok fine with any handset. Though the tab takes too long to charge when connected to lesser capacity chargers. I have been using a Belkin car charging adaptor connected to the cig. lighter socket and having an USB port as output. I have never faced any problem with any of my phones. I have even used the USB ports of the DVD player and music system for charging the phones!

I would say that life has become much easier as the charging/data port for all non-Apple devices are now standardised with micro usb. You can safely plug in any charger with a standard micro-usb pin with 5V DC output. The device draws power (i.e. milli amps) according to its needs. For eg if your phone needs 500 mA charging current and you plug in the charger of Galaxy Tab supplying 2 Amps, still the phone will draw only 500 mA and will safely get charged, maybe a bit more quickly! Only thing to be aware of is that before using any charger with any device, the charger should be having a "U/L" logo on it. This ensures that it is certified by "Underwriters Laboratories" for safety. Going by same logic, car chargers should not be harmful as long as they supply a properly regulated output of 5V, hence it would be prudent to use only "branded" car charging adapters.

1. India LTE band is 2300 while rest of Asia is 2600. 2. Go to gsmarena and search for HTC One DS. Then click compare and add 816. You will see a very nice comparison.

As per HTC India website, it does support CDMA. Text quoted from support section on the site: "In slot 1, insert a CDMA nano UIM or 3G/GSM nano SIM card. In slot 2, insert a GSM nano SIM." Link: http://www.htc.com/in/support/htc-desire-816-dual-sim/howto/509034.html
