  1. Does it tune-in to the regular cable TV or terrestrial broadcast (like doordarshan)?
  2. Wanna Buy Digital Slr Camera

Am completely with you on this. Even today, I feel that my old 1.3MP Powershot A10 (bought in yr 2000) gives better images than the 5MP Nikon L-3. But I highlighted the point about sensor size, because in prosumer dgicams, they keep on cramming more pixels into the same area i.e. on a sensor of 1/2.5 inch, without increasing it's size. Just go through the specs of any model, and you'll observe that, strangely, size of sensor would be same right from one having 1.3 MP upto those models with 8 or 9 MPs. Packing more pixels into same area translates into more noise & less sharper images, which they try to compensate with much better processors & softwares. They do succeed but still, there remains a lot more to be desired. @hetaldp Where are you?
  3. Wanna Buy Digital Slr Camera

Dear srikanth, Don't get me wrong here. I'm not saying that S5IS is not good. But hetaldp has specifically inquired for DSLR...he has not asked to help him choose between Prosumer digicams and DSLRs. Even the heading of this thread is about DSLRs. Hence, I am discussing only about DSLRs. Otherwise, I myself am using A710IS and completely agree with you on the advantages of the likes of S5IS. Infact, I deliberately avoided S3IS only becoz of it's larger size and instead bought the relatively more "pocketable" A710IS.But I would like to add thing: S5IS has everything in terms of features, but it still cannot compete with a DSLR in terms of what cameras are meant for i.e. picture quality. Just to give an idea... here's a comparison of the sensor sizes: S5IS : Sensor Size=1/2.5" ...sensor area = 25 sq mm (same as any Point & Shoot across diff models & brands) D40X : Sensor Size=23.7mmX15.6mm ...sensor area = 370 sq mm (same as any entry/mid level DSLR) So, the sensor in D40X is appx 15 times bigger in area....and size of sensor matters a lot.
  4. Lg 6600 Deep Inside

Becoz an antenna is reqd for FM reception. So it's a clever design to use headset as antenna rather than having a separate antena attached to the phone. (...I guess I know what your next question is going to be!)
  5. Wanna Buy Digital Slr Camera

@Dhiraj, Just use a DSLR once and compare the results with a Point & Shoot. You will never ever touch the likes of S5IS again! I have used Canon Powershot A10, then Nikion L-3 and am now using Powershot A710IS. But now I am very clear that my next purchase is going to be a DSLR. Ultra zoom is not the only criteria and higher zoom does not denote better quality. In case of DSLR, you can use telephoto lenses for the purpose of achieving high zoom.
  6. Wanna Buy Digital Slr Camera

Olympus SP 560 is not a SLR, it's a Point-and-shoot. Nikon D40X is very good...as per feedback from few actual users.
  7. Suggest Me A Good Music System

There are scores of systems available in this price range. What you have given as reqmt is there in all as standard features. But one model that comes to my mind is a Philips system which could be hung on a wall, with a separate sub-woofer. It has USB, DVD, MP3, FM etc etc with remote. Sound is loud and clear and costs 12.99K Here's the link: Philips MCD 288 DVD Micro Theatre
  8. Authorized Service Centers Or Local Shops ?

I had taken LSP-350 to LG service centre for charger problem. They gave the same reply that it cannot be repaired, buy new one costing Rs.390. But atleast regarding chargers, I think this makes sense because LG chargers are sealed and can be opened only by breaking them, so they are practically non-repairable. Otherwise also, I feel that LG is better than others, atleast better than Nokia in terms of their service centres.
  9. No Arun, ICICI has all scrips available. Sometimes their code does not resemble, even remotely, the name of the company due to which it becomes difficult to find....e.g ICICI code for HFCL Infra is INVTRU...but they are anyway available And now, ICICI direct has some plans like Rs.300 quarterly fixed charge for trading upto Rs.1.5 lac which works out to as low as 0.20%
  10. Samsung Champ From Tata Indicom

Not loud enough to be heard by the public and not mild enough to be put near the ears
  11. GSM is very old technology hence it has far more scope of improvement than CDMA. CDMA is atleast 4 times more efficient in spectrum utilization. Exactly. That is why coai is demanding that spectrum allocation ratio should be 4:1 instead of present 2:1 (i.e.GSM:CDMA) I think it is less costlier & easier to implement these spectrum-efficient technologies in a new network i.e. Reliance's, rather than upgrading old existing GSM networks i.e. Airtel's etc
  12. It is clearly mentioned in the first post that "My Location" is supported on series 60 3rd ed phones. So don't expect it work on our series 40 phones.
  13. Importing From Ebay

I would suggest to contact the courier co. Usually they help out (read: deliver the goods at your doorstep) in case of imports. Also do check this link to a discussion on a similar topic at team-bhp.com, it might be of help to you. Importing from ebay.com
  14. Which Is Better Nokia2505/lg Rd6600/v3m

Nokia 2505 and LG 6600 are not comparable in any manner, and anyway 2505 (@3.7K) is outside your budget window. Feature-wise, LG 6600 is very good. You can read reviews of this handset in the LG section of this forum.
  15. Lg 6250 Brew Enabled Handset

I don't think LG handsets with Reliance support installation of any 3rd party apps. So the answer is most probably NO.
  16. Nokia 6275 is a java based handset. Till now, opera was available only for java-based phones and not for BREW-based models like LG 6000, LG 6600 etc Hence, it is for the first time that opera would work on a BREW phone with Tata.
  17. Downloading Files From Net

Yes ram, I also got a message " File not found" while trying to download a theme file (.nth) from mobile9.com I've been successful only in downloading .jar files. Midi files do play on the handset but there's no option to download and same with 3gp files...but not youtube
  18. Downloading Files From Net

Thanks sitanshu. Will try... Does opera 4 support downloading directly or does it redirect to default minibrowser for downloading stuff?
  19. Lg Lsp 340e

Go to any LG service center and get the software reloaded.
  20. Downloading Files From Net

Are you sure? Which files/ file types have you dowloaded?
  21. Downloading Files From Net

As per my experience, reliance network supports downlaod only thru' R World. Only exception is: Downloading of .jar files is possible directly thru' default nokia browser
  22. Nokia 6088

    Clearing their old stocks...obviously
  23. Hutch Is Now Vodafone

But does the handset still work? If yes, then I would use it for first 6 months, then put another SIM and won't care about warranty.
  24. Why Are Such Few Nokia Cdma Handset Options?

Nokia, just like any normal company, exists to earn profits...or as they say in management jargon: "to create shareholder value". Hence, the only way to convince them is to show & prove that it would be profitable (...financially viable is the right word) for them to manufacture good quality CDMA handsets. If it makes good business sense, then it's YES else NO.
