Yeah, it is typically for "give it to your driver and forget it" type of users. If the driver wants to make outgoing calls, he would either use top-up or better still, go to a PCO. Or give one such connection to your mother at home so that she could receive calls from her near & dear ones. ...I mean, for first time users, who were anyway not interested in having a mobile phone due to hassles of monthly recharging.

Yeah I agree, don't assume anything in case of LG handsets unless explicitly mentioned. So, don't buy it with an expectation that it might play video files as in Nokia sets.

Bulk Sms Via Reliance Phone Attached To Pc
amtrag replied to supernova's topic in Technical / OS related
If you are ready to invest onetime, then Sierra card, (thank Ashoksoft for this suggestion) could be a viable option for you. But, ofcourse you need a laptop for running the card. -
Already mentioned in my post above...it is somewhere around 4kb ...try with a ringtone which is less than this...say 2-3kb to be on the safe side.
-
If you cannot save ringtones, check the size of the midi file attachment in the mms. It should not exceed ...I guess 4kb or so... On the other hand, LG6130 supports mms attachments upto 100kb or even more, so you could actually receive a 100kb ringtone and hear it too on your 5130 but when you try to save it, you would get an error. I too have sent a midi from my 6130 to my friend's 5130 and he was able to save it. I had actually sent the "drum beat" ringtone from 6130 (its a standard ringtone in this handset).

Number Portability Implementation in India
amtrag replied to niket's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Its number portability...not device portability. -
Why do you hope so? Reliance had a tie-up with Kyocera initially when they launched the Kyocera PDA and also Kyocera B/W handsets...which available only in Delhi. So maybe Reliance has again tied up with them.

Try this: Delete one number (lets call it A) from your phonebook, so that B is still stored in the phonebook. Now ask "B" to call you, and check whether this number's name is now displayed? Then try same with B deleted and A stored. This might throw more light on whether its a number format (or similar number conflict...highly unlikely) or software problem... Has RIM Started Accepting Non Reliance Handset
amtrag replied to reply2manish's topic in Technical / OS related
It's clearly mentioned but who has mentioned it?...its not an Official anouncement by reliance guys. So don't believe anything before confirming the authenticity of the information. -
No help to a layman...else it would have been there in the standard menu of your phone. Anyway, it enables initial programming of your phone when you activate it by *228.

My Bad Experience With Reliance Infocom Subsidary Company
amtrag replied to ismail's topic in Reliance Communications
Well, it was indeed a horrible experience. If I understand correctly, you called Mr. X as X only, while he expected, being a senior employee, to be called Mr... maybe he lost his his temper because of this... After all, we indians like to be called sir or atleast Mr or shri or ji etc. Guys, having heard one side, i am just trying to look into the side of the story... -
I'm sorry..my mistake. Somehow overlooked your postings in haste.

Hi, Now I don't see the RIMweb logo on the top of the screen since the upgrade happened. The IPB default logo appears now... Also, is only the default skin available currently? ...becoz I don't see any other skins in the drop-down skin selector.

Sierra and GTRAN are discontinued. ZTE & Huawei are recently introduced. Of all these, Sierra was supposed to be the best. But its no more available. Could anybody give feedback about ZTE or Huawei?

Peerbaba, you have put forth a very strong point... But remember Reliance entered the market at a time when only the higher crust of the society could afford a mobile phone. So this upper-class customer segment was already with the existing GSM operators. I remember people paying 25K for those 1st Gen phones and then paying Rs.15 per min on incoming. In such a scenario, Reliance wisely targeted the masses who did not own a mobile phone at all. So Reliance's objective was to offer cheap & affordable mobile services to the masses. Hence, Nokia N Series or Hutch Palm or other Smart phones do not fit the bill for Reliance CDMA. Reliance seems to prefer getting 100 new low value customers at the cost of losing one high value customer like you.
-
Does this mean that i can now get an unlocked CDMA handset from abroad and make it work on Reliance? Answer: NO It has to be Reliance ready, meaning its RSN should already be present on Reliance's servers. And handset should be burnt with Reliance PRL for locking and registering onto the their network.
-
But Reliance does'nt sell stand-alone RUIM cards. So you got to have a working reliance phone with a ruim, like Motorola V-730, so that you can take out the ruim and place it in your new phone. Answering peerbaba27's question, legally it cannot be done, except using the ruim card trick.

Well, with s-video it sends the monitor's entire screen to tv...so you would be able to view everything on the tv that you can see on your pc's monitor.
-
You cannot get your "own" handset to work on Reliance network, atleast officially.
-
You've got to have a rgb to composite video (or s-video, in case your tv has s-video port) convertor. Most of the AGP cards have composite or s-video Out so if you already have such a card installed, it is then readily possible.

What to do if the cd-rom drive is not reading the disc at all even after cleaning?

Welcome Pradeep, Well FM radio in a mobile handset is not just a piece of software code. It also consists of some hardware that has to tune in the frequency band of 88-108 MHz (i.e. public FM transmission). So I don't think it is that simple. But yes I have seen shops selling FM headsets for reliance LG handsets which I think is just a simple auto scan FM radio integrated with an handsfree earpiece. But I have never tried one.
-
I also welcome you to this forum Ankur. Abhay: I second your suggestion.
-
Well, actually none of the handsets available on Reliance network are listed in their list of supported handsets. You would have to use trial & error for selecting the handset model in bitpim which allows you to connect successfully to your handset. Yes, this software could be used with 6130, but the ringtones folder is hidden and so are other "useful" folders. So till date no one has been able to do anything useful on this handset.
