  1. I installed after full wipe. Would'nt that have cleared the batt stats also? Anyway, it would take few days usage to establish any improvement in battery life.
  2. Hi, I installed "Insensitive Minimalist" (by jermaine) yestrday night. Still configuring according to my requirements & exploring. For a Sense-ible user like me, it will take a while getting used to a nonsense rom. Main attraction was increased battery life as reported by many users.
  3. Hi Rahul, I am getting this error message after typing "netsh wlan start hostednetwork" Error msg: "The hosted network could'nt be started. The group or resource is not in the correct state to perfom the requested operation. "
  4. Dear, the challenge here is to transfer files without connecting to any network. Pl carefully read my query again. Once both the devices are connected to a network, there's a dearth of apps (though I wont dispute Airdroid being the best since have not used any). @Rahul: Thanks, will try out today evening.
  5. I strongly suspect HD videos (even 720p) would look horrible on a 7" screen with resolution of only 800x480.
  6. Hi, Just now recd a system update notification which says: "Android 2.3.4 Upgrade for HTC Incredible" File size 6.7MB Has anyone else also recd it? I am already on GB.
  7. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

Good effort vinayak. I would suggest to assume petrol mileage not greater than 12kmpl. (even 12 is doubtful from a petrol sedan in city traffic but anyway..) Also, it would be better in excel format than word. My back of the envelope calculations could be like this: Considering fuel price as Rs75 - Petrol and Rs 45- Diesel And mileage as 12 & 15 kmpl resp for petrol & diesel. Cost per km would be Rs 6.25 & Rs 3.00 resp. For monthly running of 1000km, total expenditure would be Rs 6250 & 3000 resp. i.e. saving of >Rs3000 per month. Now, cost of extra Rs.1 lac in loan of 5 years tenure translates to appx Rs.2000 per month in EMI. Still you are left with Rs1000 savings i.e. total savings of Rs 60K in 5 years after offsetting the cost difference between petrol & diesel.
  8. I upgraded to GB in sept but never faced this till recently. But of late (since 10 days or so), low disk space icon is permanently there in the notification bar.
  9. Since upgrade to GB, I am not able to sync my contacts with my google account. Everytime I try, I get this error message: "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" (Though I am able to sync my gmail successfuly). Anybody else also facing the same issue and any solutions?

  11. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

Read in yesterday's DNA that maruti has 1.08 lakh bookings for the new swift! New entrants should not underestimate maruti. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk

@dkaile, Read your ownership review on Tbhp and posted comments too (see post #19 in your thread).

Isn't Maruti (...Suzuki) Japanese? Regarding cost of maintenance, I believe Maruti is also one of the cheapest and they do last long enough that one would get bored. But yes, given a choice today, I would definitely explore all options rather than buying a Maruti blind-foldedly. When I purchased my Wagon-R, the only alternatives were Indica & Santro but the market has indeed changed a lot today and for the better.

@dkaile: "Time-tested" and "new model" are the mentalities that the Indian public in general has. Just imagine a guy in a tier-3 town who can barely manage an Alto that too on EMIs. Most of his friend circle would also be of the same social status. Say he wants to upgrade his car to Wagon-R/Swift and you suggest him 'Toyota". If I were in his place, I would say "yeah, I've heard Toyota makes very good cars and possibly better than Maruti, but I do not want to take any chances. None of my friends own a Toyota from whom to get a feedback and I don't know how will be the after sales service. Atleast I am sure in case of maruti that it provides good and cheap after sales." That is where Maruti has an edge. Of course I'm not at all disputing the fact that Toyota is much better than a Maruti. The sales figs of Swift at 131 units in SA reminds me of Linea's India sales figs of an odd 100 in August. That does'nt make Swift or Linea the worst cars in their categories just because some other models are selling in huge numbers. Why Suzuki is selling only ~100 units of a model in SA? I think the answer lies in your post itself. When suzuki is able to sell 1.5 times the size of S african market in India, why should they bother to put in so much effort to become one of the top 3 there and then end up selling just 2000-3000 units.

To add to that, would also like to mention that Maruti and Toyota were two different segments altogether and there never was any competition between the two. It is only now, post launch of Etios/Liva, that Toyota has entered into Maruti's turf. And one more very strong point in favour of maruti is that it's models are "time-tested" which plays a very important role in Indian buyer's minds while deciding. "Give me an average quality product and I'll be OK , but I dont want to take risk with a new brand/model". Somewhat like non-tech savvy people still buying Nokia smart phones in these days of Android.
  16. Rooted the phone and then restored all apps using Titanium backup. Upfront I dont see much of a change. But also do not see any bugs till now.
  17. Took the plunge just now and got onto the GingerBread bandwagon. Am in the process of restoring all apps.
  18. Thanks for replying to my queries parin. I think now the time has come to give it a try. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
  19. Do keep us posted about your experience with GB. @parin/all gurus 1. Say, I take a backup of all apps using Titanium backup before upgrading. Then afterwards, I again install Titanium backup and use it to restore all apps. Will it work? 2. If I want to revert to Froyo from GB, can I just restore the Nand backup that I have taken before upgrading?
  20. My dinc is rooted & s-off. Will i lose root and s-off?
  21. Android Updates For Your Phone

Great the update is out. I am on Skyraider (guess it means its not stock) and Unrooted. Do paste the link whenever possible.
  22. Common Charger Goes For A Toss

Yeah, sougatadc is correct. The manufactureres have indeed adopted the micro usb as the common standard. The usb/charger port of my HTC Incredible (droid) shares the same usb cable/charger with Palm Pixi as well as LG 6120. I have even used a Nokia & a Samsung (Epic) data cable for charging purpose for my handsets (although the Samsung Epic data cable did not work for data transfer in case of Incredible). And the convenience is just awesome. Carry just one cable (no need even for a charger) and charge your handsets from any usb port like laptop, dvd player, subwoofer, audio system, car charger etc.
  23. Android Updates For Your Phone

Hi amit, I presume you installed it on your Incrdedible? Is everything working OK or something not working like camera or data? Also let know if there is any improvement in battery backup after the upgrade.
