Yes, you are right but unavailability of high end mobiles is "one reason" not the "only one reason" for me to switch from RIM to GSM/Airtel. Although this thread is about 6265 but if the talk is going on I can write some reason as following :- 1. Blocking the features of handsets like- same phone models in TataIndicom have RUIM card facility but reliance has blocked it. 2. Data calls (Like Rworld,Internet Surfing) made on a GSM handset don’t block out voice calls like they do on CDMA phones. I can recieve calls while my Airtel Live is on but not while I go to RWorld. 3. I am thinking to moving to postpaid plans from prepaid and I can't believe RIM Billing. I have landline Airtel at my home since long time and never faced a problem of single rupee. 4. While in Roaming RIM phones have to depend only upon RIM network while on GSM there are more chances of network availability because each Operator (except BSNL) provide Roaming to other GSM operator. 5. From the past experience I am sure that whenever a new technoloy will come like 3G/Caller Tunes etc Reliance will bring it in the last. 6. If any one is going to other place then his/her home circle for more days, it is better to take local prepaid connection instead of spending money on roaming which is possible only on GSM. 7. And yes, the availability of hign end handsets. In the cost of 6255/6235 etc. I can get better GSM handset in the same price. There can be other reasons also but at this time I remember only these. But it does not mean that RIM is bad. I have never faced a network busy problem in the RIM in last one year. Reliance network is very good also. So it might be my personal opinion to switch to Airtel. I don't want to start a war again GSM/Airtel vs Reliance. Thanks.

I can't wait too much for high end phones in Reliance. Reliance is concentrating on Low End phones to be used in Villages/Towns. SO finally........ ......Now I am on Airtel ......Bye bye RIM

Hi friends, I have gone to R World > Surf section many times on my reliance mobile and have checked several wap sites which provide content (ringtones/wallpapers) download for free. But every time i click on download an error messages comes like not allowed, unable to fetch etc... I want to know that is this content download is allowed on any other rim mobile like 6255 etc ???????? or it is totally blocked. Like we can download content on GSM mobiles through GPRS why it is not allowed on Reliance????? Sorry it has been posted earlier by some one else?????? EDIT by Vishal Gupta: <Topic Merged>

I have checked ipconfig and the ipaddress is coming 0.0.0.0 while it is 192.168.0.1. It means it is changing the TCP IP properties.

I will buy Nokia (either GSM or CDMA ) if there is no alternative for me. Nokia just making money by giving less features of more price. Nokia is not for me.

It is working properly to me. I could log in easily and chat also. Some of my friends has starting to use it.

Bad news! Your cell bill’s gonna zoom NEW DELHI: All those enjoying special low rates for making calls to another subscriber of the same service provider — say from a Hutch phone to a Hutch phone, or from an Airtel to another Airtel handset — may now have to pay more for the same call. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has decided to issue a directive asking all telecom operators to avoid discrimination in charges for routing calls. Operators have been asked to withdraw tariff schemes charging much lower rates for calls terminating within the network of the same operator than those terminating in other networks. This would increase tariffs for more than 60m mobile users, as operators would withdraw lower tariffs for intra-network calls. Currently, a one-minute local Reliance-to-Reliance call costs just 40 paise under some of its schemes. Similarly, Hutch-to-Hutch local calls cost 50 paise per minute under some of its popular schemes and Airtel-to-Airtel local calls cost Re 1 per minute. Union communications minister Dayanidhi Maran has informed prime minister Manmohan Singh of its decision. Source: Economic Times

You may be right in saying that changing providers is easy in GSM but any professional person will not want to change his contact number easily. If you think only in terms of money than it is easy to change but for a more professioanl and business point of view changing a contact number can hurt a lot. So changing providers is not easy untill than number portability introduced in India. At least for me.

I think it is GSM phone. This category is only for CDMA phones as far as I know.

Hello, Recently I have some problem with my ISP so I am thinking of a new internet connection. One Reliace Franchise in my area giving Reliace dial up internet with unlimited data transfer for Rs. 550 per month. The plan suits for me but I have heard for first time that you can use reliance dial up internet without a reliance phone. Have anybody any idea what is it?? he has told me a long name for this service but I forgot it.

Ashok, I am in Ghaziabad ( Uttar Pradesh) . For Landline phoes it comes under UP West Area and for Mobiles it comes under Delhi Area.

The browsing speed I get is around 33 kpbs and the download speed varies between 2 and 4. Although this speed is not great but satisfactory considering it is unlimited and there is no security fee or installation fee so I am free to disconnect it any time without worry for money. This week Airtel has started the underground cable work in my area so I am hoping better surfing after some weeks.

Today this connection has been installed at my home. This is dial up connection. I have to dial to 300. And this connection is from Reliance Infocom. I have used it for almost 4 hours since now and there is no disconnection in between as it was used to be in MTNL. Rest later.

Hi friends, A lot of replies and queries are here. Yesterday I once again went to the dealer for all the queries. I will point out them as following :- 1. It is dial up through Modem though wireline without a phone. 2. It is not broadband, not Rconnect, not Sierra wireless. The dealer calls this scheme IDSL. ( I doubt..) 3. The dealer is running DID Exchange of Reliane Infocomm as he is told me. 4. There is no installation fee, no security fee, Rs. 550 per month inclusive of all taxes, unlimited data transfer, 24 hours available. 5. Offcourse it is dial up so speed will be around 30 to 50. 7. My area is Delhi NCR ( Ghaziabad). After checking all the things carefully with him I have ordered him to install the internet at my home. ( Because there is no installation, security fee. If I am not satify I can disconnect after one month). It will be installed either today or tomorrow. So wait for couple of days I will provide more information.

Very simple, Means Dial Up Internet service from Reliance through wireline. I also heard it first time as I have written??????
