Anant is right All later 6.5 builds of Mighty Mike for Pro has Location setting default as OFF. It is not clear why has has chosen so. But it is OFF for sure. Also please update me on the stability of the latest build since earlier I found his earlier 6.5 builds to be somewhat laggy and buggy.

HTC Shift was introduced as a Ultra Mobile PC about a year ago with a 7"touch screen, Intel 800Mhz processor ( running Vista ) with built in EVDO Modem / HSDPA Modem for Data connectivity only. NO Phone Functions at all. Raon Systems introduced a 4.5" screen similar device with complete Phone and Data features at about the same time but these device were not sucessful. These were too bulky for being a phone and too underpowered to be a PC. There were very few takers for them. Those models just fizzled out. I personally owned a Samsung Q1 Ultra, but then I disposed off after 4 months of use.

Change COMM-0 to COMM-4 and reboot. Do not change anything else. Thereafter update quickgps through activasync and you should be good to go.

Absolutely Right Doc It is only when the operators start offering EVDO on their own handsets that one can even think of hacking the imported ones. Moreover even then making the imported hansets work on EVDO will not be very easy. Too many adjustments shall be required which only techies will be able to do and not ordinary users. Anyway that day is at least a year away.

I have tried almost the entire range of ROMs ( about 8 or 9 of them ) for Touch pro and finally settled for Mighty ROM 4.16 which I found to be most stable and fastest and useful for business professionals.

The 2.1 Ghz Spectrum can be used both for voice as well as data services. This spectrum allows use of 5Mhz wideband spread spectrum use in GSM Technology where it is possible to offer broadband mobile services to GSM operators. But CDMA operators can use existing 800 Mhz band using EVDO Rev.A to offer upto 3.1 mpbs shared access to mobile subscribers. Since it will offer undue advantage to CDMA operators, the GSM lobby insists that Mobile broadband services should be allowed once 2.1 Ghz is auctioned. In the meantime the CDMA operators with unified access license which allows them to be an internet service provider also, have started offering EVDO on USB Modem and routers since these are not catagorized as Mobile Handsets but as purely internet access devices. So dear, the technology is available but due to shortsightedness of our beuraucrats in earlier years, we are facing the consequences. Nevertheless this issue should get sorted in an years time and the CDMA operators are going to concentrate more on data services in coming future and they will switch voice traffic to GSM which they will be simuataneously operating on, both Reliance as well as tata.

No Dear Due to legal issues on offering high speed internet on mobile handsets, currently neither Reliance nor Tata will offer EVDO on Handsets. Currently EVDO is available on USB Modems and Routers only. Also EVDO coverage is currently sporadic and not available seamlessly and your modem shall switch to 1X very frequently. For EVDO on Handsets, wait for another year.

Samsung NC10 is approx 24500/- in Delhi upgrading RAM to 2GB would cost about 800 bucks

I have tried ASUS, ACER and finally settled on Samsung NC10 All typical features with 6 cell and offers about 7 hours backup typically. The weight is only 1.310 Kgs. I am using 2GB Ram with it to make it a little peppier in performance I have found the NC10 to be most suitable. Though there is very little difference between all the 10" models. The HP mini 1000 is asthetically very pleasing but it does not have VGA out so you cannot connect external monitor I would again recommend NC10 or else MSI Wind and then New ACER Aspire with 10" screen version The specifications of all these machines are absolutely identical except of maybe the hard disk size
