You need IR commander on your pc or laptop, and as your mobile support JAVA, you need to find java base IR TV controller for your mobile, Then IR commander in your pc can learn signals send from your mobile, and assign specific command for the same. I have done same with normal remote and IR commander in PC. Also i can provide you hardware diagram if your computer dose not support IR, It will not cost more than Rs.80. (only for the space parts require to built.)

I haven't said anything about head ache, i was just clarifying the frequencies used. But cellphones can be related to headache, not only headache but more health issues are there. For more info read here

As per my technical knowledge, you require basic minimum Software called OS or a router(with software embedded) to access and configure WiFi or any other network. Also you will require basic keypad to configure the services like ip . you will require internet applications on it to tune radio thru internet. If some one is going to add all this and run only radio he will be call FOOL ! So basically you require mini pc, or PPC / PDA to full fill your requirement. Straight answer to your question is NO ! Go for smart phone with wifi.

In most China phones engg menu there is an option for High Speed Sim, If you enable that option you phone will not work at all, many user have bricked their phone by enabling this option. So what ever you do, don't enable this option. ! And only recovery from it is to flash SAME firmware to it. So before doing anything writer down your software version, build date and time. Any one wants support regarding this I am here to help !

Caution For China Mobile Phone Owners (high Speed Sim))
::Hitesh:: replied to ::Hitesh::'s topic in Other handsets
High speed sim card is developed 5 year back, by Gemalto this is to increase the speed of communication between handset and sim card by 20x. It is an usb technology (USB SIM CARD), from which we can get upto 12mbps data connectivity between sim card and hand set. Currently used technology is almost 20-25 year old, which is base on smart card reader. Some countries are ready to adopt it. some are using it. But still High Speed Sim is not implemented due to major mobile manufacturer like Nokia want to sell their own technology which they call “Multi-Protocol Interface”. More info HERE -
