Yesterday My S4 screen started flashing/flickering white light and after few minutes it become dead. Now I can only see the little yellow sand /blurry screen when I switch on the phone. Samsung Service centre did not accepted the phone as its foriegn handset. If someone has any solution in Mumbai please let me know. Thanks.

I am starting this topic for understanding the NV item and generating new dump file when we change or sell our Phones. If you see the NV items received from your seller you can understand that basically we have to change 37 items in Phone’s actual NV adresses in order to use it on Reliance CDMA… These are 0714 (0x02CA) 0460 (0x01CC) 0461 (0x01CD) 4396 (0x112C) 0463 (0x01CF) 0464 (0x01D0) 0462 (0x01CE) 0495 (0x01EF) 0546 (0x0222) 1907 (0x0773) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0459 (0x01CB) 1194 (0x04AA) 0579 (0x0243) 1192 (0x04A8) 0580 (0x0244) 2953 (0x0B89) 0910 (0x038E) 0906 (0x038A) 8035 (0x1F63) You can see that many addresses are repeated in dump file. Please note that its just the location of addresses where we have to input the value. Input value will be same for all similar address. For example 0465 is repeated 6 times but value for all 0465 address will be same. Now for understading what these address refers to you can go through the following topic of XDA : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33230579 Don’t worry about the long list in above tutorial; what we need to understand is basically 4-5 items only. Most of the addresses in above 37 items have same value. I will group the address together which are having same value : ADDRESS VALUE 0465, 2825, 2953, 910, 906 net 579,1194 meid@hrpd.rcom.co.in (Replace meid with your Phones MEID) 466 HIGHLYSECRETWORDnet 580,1192 MIN REST ALL Leave it as it was in old dump file Now if you have any latest NV dump file then basically you have to edit only 579,1194,580 & 1192 as value of all other addresses will remain same in new dump file also. Please care that older NV dump file may have different values because previously we were using our MDN as Username and Password i.e. 0465, 2825, 2953, 910, 906 has to be changed to “net” in older Dump file. Similarly you will find HIGHLYSECRETWORD(your MDN) in address 0466. All these addresses are entered in HEX Format in Dump so to understand dump file and to edit it you need a ASCii to HEX Calculator. I used following online tool for this : http://www.asciitohex.com/ Just copy the ASCii value in text box of above calculator and click Convert. Then check the Hexadecimal Box for corresponding Hex Value. Now enter this value in dump file one by one. Replace the small alphabet to Capital while entering in Dump file. Also dont edit the first Hex value in address as it defines the location. e.g: After editing the Dump file you can upload it to your phone using following topic: http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/33225-tutorial-flashing-your-cdma-handset-after-meidesn-registration/?p=255120 Please note that above editing is for 1x only as I am not able to understand address 580 & 1192. If you put your MIN in these address you will get 1x but for EVDO I believe something else has to be entered. I have tried this method on 3-4 phones and was able to get 1x. (Tried on HTC EVO3D & Samsung Fascinate.) My purpose for writing this tutorial is purely to avoid bothering our gurus/sellers again and again for NV dump. I may not be correct in my understanding and request all Gurus to correct and shade some more light on it. I thanks Hetal & Dr. Muffaddal for their help and many tutorials and offcourse Parin who send me every now and then NV dump for various phones.

Here in Sri Lanka data rates does not depend on speed. Here 2G/3G/4G all have same rates..LKR299/ gives 1.5GB of data. Speed depends completely on handset.. I am surprised how telcos in india are looting us.

Freezed Knox via ROM toolbox Lite. I saw somewhere on XDA the procedure to remove Knox. By the way what is the use of removing Knox at present? I am able to do everything in my phone.

I updated my S4 by following the procedure posted by XDA member Ingenium13 on XDA. The best part of updating by this way is; you will not lose any of your current data and settings. Also your phone will be updated with complete firmware i.e. bootloader, radio, stock recovery and OS. Following is the link for complete guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2509605 You dont have to uninstall/Install anything. Remember the Joshm way of updating our Fascinate via ODIN 1. Make a complete backup of your phone via your current recovery.\ 2. Download all the required file as specified in above link. 3. Place MJA update file on your SD Card. (Remember not to put in Phone memory) 4. Start ODIN in your computer and load the stock MF9 through PDA. Make sure re-partition is not checked in ODIN 5. Power off the phone completely and then go into download mode by holding VolDown+Home+Power button together. 6. Connect your phone to computer. (See if ODIN has detected it? In my case I had to connect the phone first and then start ODIN.) 7. Load the stock MF9 through ODIN. Reboot to check that your Data is not lost. Now you are on stock MF9. 8. Reboot to stock recovery by holding down VolUP+Home+Power button together. 9. Select Install from zipcard and navigate to the stock MJA file you put in your SD card in step 3. Flash it. 10. After Flashing you will see that you are on stock 4.3 and all your data is still intact. Now you can root your phone by using Chainfire’s CF-auto root file. ^^^superb news...but I believe a minimal charge like Rs. 10/8 Hrs. would have been a better choice...free things in india never works properly...look at the Govt. Hospitals..Also Railway could earn a large amount of money through this which can be utilized to enhance the Railway facilities...

Why not go for Blackberry Style... Its compact and battery is always good in blackberry.... if price and form factor is not a constraint then its good handset.....Also blackberries interface is very simple...
