Chinese Mobiles ! ( No Debate) Just A Discussion.
dintis replied to dintis's topic in Other handsets
Dear All, It is after three months I checked in to this forum to update my experience of using a Chinese make dual sim phone. I started this thread in September and was really surprised to see the number response and the way the debate took a turn. I would like to update about my experience here for last three months: Though the phone indicates it is a 3 MP camera phone, it is just a 1.3 MP one. The touch panel and dual camera, FM, Bluetooth all works fine till date without any issue. The phone does not have an inbuilt modem and so can't use for Rworld, but have GPRS and can be used in GSM network for data transfer and browsing. A PC Synch software I got helps me to browse the phone with USB cable, but the key feature of address book back up is not available, but all images, Music and videos can be accessed, uploaded or down loaded without any problem. Both GSM and CDMA can be used at same time with dual standby. All incoming and outgoing calls are indicated with (CDMA) in bracket for call to and from CDMA network. All SMS and MMS with Group and Multi send features working fine. Twice it fell down from a height of 5 ft and nothing had been broken and still the phone is working as usual. I was using it on many states in India while on roaming and never faced a problem except at Delhi. (at Delhi whenever I switched on the phone, it always detects TATA Indicom as service provider and I could never use it at Delhi). All other places it worked fine without any settings or changes. Neither reliance nor customer care at both TATA and RIM knows why? It has 1000 x 4 on memory on phone book + 250 in RIM SIM + 250 on Airtel SIM. Any phone book entry can be copied between all the three. My hand set have a proper IMEI number and the same is validated by Airtel as genuine hand set. At current market price of about 4800/- it is a deal for a person who travel a lot. The minus side of it is that in the absence of phone book sync with PC, will set you back if phone become unusable or misplaced as you will not have a copy of it. No service support (or it will cost almost same as a new set to get it repaired) No operating manual, software or instructions. But at the end of the day anyone buys a Chinese set expect only this much and not more. Please continue the discussion on a positive manner as it brings out many grey areas of the whole system and market. Best Regards -
I could not find a specific forum for newly available feature rich Chinees Models. I have used for last one month Changjiang A918 model and it is superb with GSM+CDMA dual sim same time use. Also have 3 inch touch panel, dual camera (VGA), 3000 phone book, MMS, WAP, Bluetooth, GPRS, USB disk, USB charge from even a laptop, Dual Battery, FM Radio, MP3/4 player, Stereo sound, mini SD card slot with 128 MB coming with phone. It is now available in market for 5000/- with six months service warranty. I could also find a PC sync software at http://rapidshare.com/files/71984019/ChinaPhoneSuite.rar (works with all Chinees models) Now using it with airtel + rim sim cards. Till now no issues. Request any one using other chinees models to share there experinace and also provide PC synch software links.

Hi, I too purchased this model 15 days back fro Rs.5300 with dual battery pack. I was earlier using a Nokia 6265 model and wanted to switch over to a PDA phone. This one have 300 phone book entry, Dual camera one with 3 MP camera, GSM and CDMA support at same time, combined phone book and above all 3" touch screen PDA facility. I am using it without any problem of network or any other issues. I use a BSNL GSM sim. I think your issue is that you activated the CDMA sim through this phone. Better to get a new SIM from Webworld and activate that using RIM enabled phone. Still that does not work you can get your phone exchabged at the same vendor shop as they offer service warranty for 6 months. Now I am searching for the PC connectivity software for this model. I am really impressed with the performance at this throw away price. If any one knows the link for PC software please share it here! Dintis

Hi Guys, I am using RD6000 for the last six months and the software version is 9. Since it got delivered the hands free kit is not working correctely. Every time a call come in, I have to open the folder (I kept the answer mode to open the folder), then I can hear the voice in headset. Any one had experianced this problem. I could not see any coments on this. So I assume that there may be some problem with my settings / hands free kit. I am using the original hands free kit came along with the phone. Thomas

I have a RD600 till date its hands free kit won't work since the software have some problem as per RIM. LG also says there is problem and no fix as of now. can anyone who is using this phone let us know what all problems they face. I wanted to upgrad. The RD6230 features looks to be tempting.
