I had an old 10" Gtablet, Viewsonic (wifi only), which was used to load WA on it & another phone number was used to register the WA account. And it works fine. HTC Rhyme > evdon on > hotspot > gtablet > whatsapp yes, you need to get adjusted to the situation, as not that you can reply every WA messages instantly since 10" device can't be everywhere you go. But, the way, my wife uses WA, none of the messages are of 'instant reply' category, mainly for photos / fwd / media etc. But, now I would again like to go 'nowhere' with following question / query. rhyme is very old phone. probably 2011 or so.. OTG was not common during those times. Even, in any case, OTG is possible, it will require a usb device hanging with the phone most of the times. However, shorter maybe the cable. As, I have a home network & my phone (with ES explorer) can access folders on my Laptop throu wifi. So, what I was thinking, if I can make WA download pictures/ media on any of the folder either on internal memory or directly to my network folder, I can manage the problem temporary. I am sure, modifying some files in WA can do the trick. You know like open the file in txt editor & find where path address is locaed & change the same. << I have done such things in past in computers for few of the requirement.

does 'after root' data, sms, call work as it is ? Or do we have to change MIN, flash phone, prl loading etc ? Asking, since, I have had very bad experience with rhyme. Even after factory reset, PRL has to be loaded again & if unlucky Data won't get into 3G mode. Hitesh, if you recall, you only had tried on to get EVDO back on this vary rhyme !!!!! Few months back. So, in case Root doesn't damage normal phone operations , I would do it right away. Working on other options as well.

^^^ so far, (20 days over), not found any repair shop who'll do this, in my city, Baroda. Ever major repair shop, will note down model number etc details with them & tell me that they will contact me, when they can arrange such part from their sources. No one has contacted me so far. 7 to 8 such shops. There is also, no point in keeping my rhyme @ repair shop, unless they have a part ready, since I don't have an extra cdma handset. As of now, using it for voice / sms / internet / whatsapp (text) , which meets 90% of my requirement (actually my wife's). if only this photo in whatsapp issue is resolved, I can wait for longer time till the hardware problem is solved. I know, solving hardware problem is my first priority, but I don't know when will that happen. With so many high end smartphones sold on this forum, it is high time that like RS, we should also have some RR (reputed repairers) in order to ensure that we are not totally helpless in such cases...though there are practical problems of such business, but..

^^ Option 1 - Tried above. Couldn't access internal memory of phone through computer. Also, in EX explorer, I can see internal memory folders / files but dont' have write access. Option 2 How can we do that ?

^^^^ so far, Free Wifi is only Whatsapp messages & not in reality. None of the Gujarat users have confirmed so far, about this Free Wifi thing. Had it been the case, it would have surely get reported in Local papers / media. I haven't seen such a thing at least in Baroda / Ahmedabad. No personal idea about Surat or Jamnagar !! as some of the reports mentioned in earlier reports, they are likely to start services in Sep. So, these electronic hardware will be installed later on. As there is no point installing this hardware on towers, when services are to commence in Sep. Like furnishing to be done after house is made.

I am sure, other telecom operators are seeing, what we are seeing now. Are they planning any counter strategy ?? Or simply assuming that cost difference will ensure their customer remains there only. And, also it is foolish to think of the fact that govt will only allow only Reliance to offer 4g - a virtual monopoly scenario..

What's this ? Are these Reliance Jio's 4g towers ? Have seen 2 such towers erected in last 10 days in Baroda. Heard from others, that there are many more such towers erected throughout city..

How does the Fujitsu compare to this one, which you had posted a few pages back? If you have other comparable choices, then you can definitely avoid Fujitsu. I personally use one & it's performance is below par. I have no choice, as my office has given me one & to many others. And everyone complains about hardware / software problem frequently. I myself have got it replaced 2 times, due to hardware problems (which their engineers were not able to identify). BSOD was one of the regular event in past. I have used HP, Samsung, Sony & Fujitsu laptop in past & my personal rating for fujitsu will be last. for other brands, I have no experience so no idea.

I am looking for a specific application related to managing CAR mileage / maintenance issue. Like, whenever petrol is filled, we can enter amount , liter, km to record. After few such records it can calculate mileage automatically. (not gps based, as app will be part of phone & gps will be useless). It can keep track of various things done in car, like oil filling, service done, puc done, insurance, so that it can remind me, when it is due next. It can keep track of various cost of service, etc etc charges (of course, I will have to enter data). I know, this is very specific & particular to india (like puc stuff !), but than having one such app will be great, as keeping, many such things in mind or files etc are not the only option available anymore, in this android world !! occurred to me today, when while taking my car to service, the service man asked me, when I changed this gear oil, last ?? No. Not only due to financial reasons, but due to practical reasons, it makes no sense. Many of this packager's tie up with few hotels & "create" a full package to customer. In future, you never know which hotel will be part of that & not. In most of the cases, you will only come to know about that, when you plan to go for booking. I have burnt my fingers long back & yet to find out legal Government authority whom to address complaint. Like RBi, TRAI, IRDA etc etc in various other finance / service sectors. For such kind of packages, there are no regulator & if you are cheated / not satisfied with service etc, you have NO other resort. Consumer court / Courts options are available, but time consuming. And most of this small time operators mention in their T & C that "all legal matters subject to local jurisdiction" , which further kills your zest to take them to court & get them in line (if company don't operate from your city). Many of such operators open ad-hoc offices in other cities to give customer some confidence, but it is only for time being. Once money is collected & rented office tenure is over, they are safe in their city of operation. Avoid.

on your phone Go to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging USB debugging should be checked ON. probably that'll solve your problem. I have GB 2.3.6 stock rom & it works like that. But, for other options, there may be similar settings available.

what about Etios ? it is quiet spacious & reliable too. I like look of Etios more better than Amaze. Amaze seems kind of modified 'something' product & not exactly a sedan.

Objective : If you have datacard like ec122 (cdma unlocked) or any other GSM Based dongle & want to use that datacard's internet on your other device like phone / tablet you can do it if you have basic wifi router.. As such there are Three options below: 1) Make a virtual hot-spot (ad-hoc wireless connection) & share your Datacard's internet connection by Win7 hotspot. Problem, so far I know, Android device don't connect to Ad-hoc network. I had blackberry in past, which used to get connected. 2) Buy something like this (http://goo.gl/nGLKgL) << A kind of MiFi device, which creates a wifi hotspot with your datacard. But, this one will require extra spending on top of datacard. In addition to that, range will not be too good considering typical requirement portable wifi device caters to. 3) Relay your internet connection (from Datacard) through your wifi router. (Assuming you already have one, as compare to datacard and portable wifi device, normal wifi routers are more prevalent).
