  1. Read the DoT press release. It says MNP could not take off as `some operators have still not upgraded and provided connectivity'. Obviously, somebody who feels its interests will be harmed by MNP have not met the deadline and it will be anybody's guess that the defaulters could be major mobile operators. Now the government should announce names of those operators who did not catch up. Let people know who are the culprit. I doubt if these operators would meet the March 31 deadline as well. Needs public pressure and generating mass opinion to get MNP going. Otherwise, big operators would never like anything of this kind to happen.
  2. After Mnp What Is Your Move?

I am waiting to shift from my Loop to Rel GSM. I hope the MNP starts working from Jan 1.
  3. Reliance GSM - Problems ! Problems ! & Problems!

RGSM network has improved a lot over the period. But I would like to share a funny thing about Reliance GSM/CDMA. I visited Matheran, a hill station close to Mumbai, recently and found that there was no network coverage from CDMA as well as GSM networks of reliance. I checked my GSM set and found that every other service provider including Docomo had good network there. It was surprising to me as to why Reliance has not covered Matheran since the place is a favorite picnic destination. I have written to Reliance service assurance cell and they have promised me to look into the issue.
  4. Sorry guys. I sympathise with you for your problems. I suggest you send emails to the nodal officer as well as the service assurance cell simultaneously. May be they'll respond. Fortunately for me, when I used to face network problem, I had sent email to the service assurance cell and I got prompt replies. So please try sending ur complaints to the service assurance cell. You can find the email ID on Reliance website.
  5. Choice Number

Mr Daga Any idea how much would some one charge to get a premium GSM number in Mumbai? RGSM or any other? I would like to have one which is easy to remember?
  6. Reliance Website New Look

The new Reliance website is indeed very user-friendly and importantly very refreshing. Also, recently when I placed a request for something to their customer care, immediately after I disconnected, I got an SMS seeking feedback about the executive, his approach and trouble-shooting. I am impressed.
  7. Rcom Unveils Motorola W362

Dear Amit There is no way you can transfer your contacts from PC to Motorola W362. You will have to do it manually one by one. This is perhaps the biggest drawback of this handset which is otherwise very userfriendly. You can transfer music, ringtones, photos etc from PC to phone and vice versa, but not contacts. I wish there is some way we can modify the software to get it done. Abhijit
  8. Bad Network Quality!

The cell info display is not available in Mumbai as well. Anybody knows the reason? or when are they going to make it available?
  9. Postpaid Tariff Plans

Hi all The prepaid tariff of Reliance GSM appears to be costly. @ 60 paise/min call, its costly even if compared to Reliance CDMA prepaid. Is it advisable to move to postpaid in Reliance GSM? Does anyone have a cheap tariff plan for GSM in Mumbai? Or can anyone please explain me how to make the prepaid tariff cheaper by jumbling various STVs?
  10. The issue of every customer paying Rs 6000 for MNP is all ****. It seems almost all service providers are paranoid of losing their customers to Reliance GSM/CDMA and thats the reason why they are floating all such ideas to deter customers from moving away. And it seems leading the pack are Airtel and Vodafone. I don't understand why the GSM companies are not confident about their strengths in the business. Personally speaking, I primarily use BPL Mobile and Reliance CDMA connections. I dont have any problem with BPL mobile when it comes to network, service, tariff and customer care in Mumbai. I also don't have a problem with Reliance CDMA as far as tariff and network is concerned. I doubt whether I would move from BPL to any other GSM provider, although BPL is a small company and may not be providing too many alluring perks to its customers. Coming back to Rs 6000 per connection for MNP as the newspaper article suggests, do you think the DoT would keep quiet? This reports are being circulated by scare crows and nothing else.
  11. Bad Network Quality!

Reliance GSM has a poor network even in Mumbai. They have miles to go ahead as compared to their CDMA network. I purchased Reliance GSM two weeks ago and I am facing severe network problem at my home and office (both in Mumbai). It is surprising that Reliance has not focussed to improve its network even in metros like Mumbai. And on top of it, the customer care guys are not ready to register your complaint. When I purchased the GSM card, a leaflet accompanying it said customer care would issue a docket number for every complaint. Today, I tried to lodge complaint, but the guy flatly refused to register it saying, it was not an individual problem. I told him let it be, but give me a docket number so that I can follow up at least my issue. He agains refused. These customer care guys are so hardened, they do not budge an inch to what ever you try to reason. I have sent an email to Reliance customer care and service assurance and I hope they would be sensible enough to sort out the problem. I also own a Reliance CDMA and have no issues with the network. Thats why, perhaps, I never had a chance to speak to the rude and discourteous customer care guys of Reliance.
  12. Online Recharge?

It is indeed It is indeed surprising that online recharge is not possible for GSM. I tried doing it through my bank website and although money was deducted, it did not reflect on my GSM prepaid balance. Later I asked CC and the guy said it was not possible. Strange that one has to visit webworld or roadside vendor to get card recharged.
  13. hi everyone, I am starting a new topic based on my personal query. I have a reliance lifetime prepaid connection and my wife has a vodafone postpaid connection. As would happen to any one like me, there are sizeable calls between the two phones. I want suggestions from you all friends. 1) should a couple have two reliance connections for themselves? 2) or, should a couple go for one reliance connection and one of a different operator? 3)or, should a couple should go for two connections of any other operator? your suggestions supported by calculations would be most welcome
  14. Yes, onnet means inclusive of both, CDMA as well as GSM. At least that is what is reflected from ADAG advertisements so far.
  15. Purchasing Reliance Handsets Directly In Pune

Hi choombak Thanks for the help. I too purchased a motorola W362 from Mr Gandhi in Pune today. The phone is really nice except that I do not know how to copy my PC phonebook to the phone. Please help me out if possible. And let me tell you, I also got the phone for Rs 3625 (with all accessories except a memory card). The telephone number of Mr Gandhi you gave, proved to be immense help. A friend of mine collected the phone from there. Thanks again.
  16. I visited Reliance webworld at Naupada in Thane to buy a motorola w362 today. The guys at the counters told me that from January 1 onwards Reliance has stopped selling motorola and nokia handsets through webworld. It would now sell only LG and Samsung handsets, ofcourse the Classic sets. Have the Reliance guys gone mad? Why do they wish to restrict the CDMA users to only LG and Samsung? I asked the webworld guys if any of the webworlds in Mumbai and Thane could still have motorola handsets. They replied that none would have it now. This is something strange.
  17. Please recommend Rs.3k - 4k handset

Do you still get nokia 2112/nokia 3125 and nokia 6235 at webworld? any idea about the price? can anyone suggest me a basic handset (no classic or LG) which is in the range of Rs 3000 to Rs 4000?
  18. Purchasing Reliance Handsets Directly In Pune

Hi choombak, hows your experience of w362? would you recommend it to buy?
  19. Please recommend Rs.3k - 4k handset

thanks for the suggestion. But I once asked at Reliance showroom and they said Motorola W362 has some problems. Is it true or is it that they do not wish to market it? I actually like the phone. Its sleek and has good features. thanks.
  20. Reliance Cdma Number To Gsm Number Conversion?

Narinder I agree with you. I am an old GSM user and recently added one CDMA connection. The voice quality is much better and the rate of call drop is very less in RCOM as compared to other GSMs.
  21. Reliance Gsm Postpaid plans Launched

When is RCom launching GSM plans for Mumbai? Any idea when the number portability will begin?
