hi, i have blackberry 8830 bought from TATA Indiacom, now i have switched on to Airtel and wanted to use my BIS on the same. However suddenly my phone started acting funny and it just keep showing GSM whenever i try to use my airtel sim but does not allow me to use neither my data service on airtel nor calls while it shows "GSM". I visited to techinical helpdesk and they showed me that in advanced option -> SIM -> when we type MEPD it shows some password attempts to unlock GSM slot completely to be network free, however in my devise its showing " ENTER NETWORK MEP CODE (0 LEFT)", Can any one please help me to get this fixed so that i can use my BB 8830 on airtel. I have seen experts helping everyone, please help me as well. Thanks, Aayush RJ

Hi V, I know this is not the answer to your quesry however it seems you can help me,, i tried to follow the same process but after installing the MFI when i tried to run & connect my 8830 to wipe,,, it just keeps showing "CONNECT A device to begin", Can you please help me to guide if i m missing to install something... i m using Windows vista 32x on my system... GSM Services are usually unlocked,,,, I am using BB8830 from Tata Indicom & using my Vodafone ,,,, but as suggested above you need to change network setting and you can not use both service together. 1.Firstly ur CDMA number should be programmed on handset. 2.You would be able to use GSM only for voice calls. 3. For data based services if you want to use the same handset for GSM, you firstly need to go to GSM operator office to check whether they can configure your handset on their network, if yes, then you have to get your phone deactivated from CDMA operator n it could be used for GSM then. I bought 8830 from Tata Indicom, wud like to know if by anyways it cud work for my Vodafone number, if yes : 1. Cant it be unlocked by any means and den cud be used with GSM networkk???
