  1. Ppc6700 Screen All White

This morning I've seen my PPC6700 has the screen all white. It was fine until midnight. Even though the screen is all white, it can receive calls, sync with windows PC. I don't think it is responding to touch screen actions. Soft reset does not do anything. I did not do the hard reset yet ! Any suggestions for recovering this phone? -PK
  2. Ppc6700 Screen All White

Hi All, Thank you for all the information about possible problem. I managed to get another phone from which I replaced the display part of the 6700. Now it is working like before. I've upgraded the OS to WM6.5 from ppckitchen.org. The phone responds much better with 6.5. I suggest people should give it a try (if it is already not being used ) Regards -PK
  3. Ppc6700 Screen All White

Where can I get one replaced? Any estimate of the cost involved? -PK
  4. Ppc6700 Screen All White

Hehe! Looks like I should get someone to gift me some phone for my upcoming birthday ! What's the cheapest, decent, minimum functionality phone in the market with a RUIM slot I opened up the phone, put back all connectors as tight as permitted . No change, it is the same situation. Note: No response to touch on the screen. Only button actions are registered. -PK
  5. PPC 6700 - Dropped - Not Charging Now :(

Yesterday, my PPC6700 slipped out of my hand. There is no cosmetic damage. Initially the screen did not respond. After a couple of soft resets, the phone worked fine (also observed that this phone freeze happens after sometime). After few hours of usage and battery drain, I observed that the phone stopped charging. The charging light comes on, the battery indicator shows that the phone is charging. However, the battery is not charged. All other functionalities are fine. Any guesses on what could be done? Also, do you know if this could be serviced? If yes, where? Thanks for all the hints in getting this phone up and running. -PK
  6. PPC 6700 - Dropped - Not Charging Now :(

Guys ! Thanks for responses. Without me doing anything, I've observed that the phone is charging. However, it is somewhat slow. Also, I observed the following: 1) The discharge rate has increased 2) It takes a while to sense the total charge accumulated in the battery. Note: I am able to make calls from 6700, and connect to the PC -PK
  7. Android Port To Htc Apache (aka 6700) - Blog

Please check the following link "Android release and kernel 2.6.25 running on HTC Apache!" @ http://zakserver2.midphase.com/~chillaxi/?p=116 I'm excited to try this -PK
  8. Android Port To Htc Apache (aka 6700) - Blog

Yes, it is far from complete especially CDMA and wifi modules are not yet ready. However, there is another option for us to experiment with. WM6.1 works very well for me (with only a few issues, which will probably be ironed out soon). -PK
  9. Audiovox 6700 > Few Queries

I've upgraded from WM5 to WM6.1 using the ppckitchen.org BuildOS software. I had customized a bit by adding additional utilities. So far, I did not get into any instability issues. 6700 runs much faster. The only problem I have is with Y! Go crashing after trying to login. Yeah! volume is an issue. I'm searching for a work around for that. No issues with reception. Works well in all places. I had installed the SD and SDHC drivers. Yet to check it working on 4GB SDHC card I had ordered (4GB SDHC microSD card with a miniSD adaptor). I heard that it works well with WM6.1 upgrade to 6700 (source ppcgeeks forum). It supports > 2GB cards. Love the keyboard. Much faster typing of information. I'm not sure if the alarm tone can be changed or not. Your requirements for a SMS grouping could be handled by a software (may be a freeware exists) Note: I had upgraded my friend's 6700, and he is also very happy with the wm6.1 upgrade (no stability issues so far). -PK
  10. Wm 6 On Ppc 6700

I'm thinking of getting wm6 onto ppc 6700. What will happen to the Reliance settings including the phone programming information. Will the Reliance settings remain untouched? Is it just like updating to WM6 and a straight go ahead? Also, any new/stable versions of wm6 available for Reliance. Google search only points to one year old versions, which appear to have some problem or the other. Thanks -PK
  11. Bitpim And Rd6100

Hi, I bought a LG RD6100 recently. Except for the camera, the rest of the phone is good. I could get it to sync with PC on Windows. However, I want to sync the data from this phone on Linux (that's what I use at home and office). I tried BitPim and could not get it to recognize this phone. On linux, a ports /dev/ttyACM0 is created when I connect this phone. Also, lsusb command shows the following:"ID 1004:6000 LG Electronics, Inc. VX4400/VX6000 Cellphone". I tried VX4400 and VX6000 in BitPim. Nothing seem to make BitPim recognize this device Did any of you had success with BitPim and linux? Regards -PK
  12. Broken Phone - How To?

I bought classic 101 in Jan 2007. For this 1-1/2 years, this phone has worked really well. For the last few days the when I put it on the charger, the phone shows full charge. However, within minutes the phone complains about zero battery charge. I removed the battery and put it back. It starts working a little longer. Once I was removing the battery, i heard a click sound and what I see is the connector from the phone 'mother board' has come off GREAT phone quality Now to the point: ------------------- I want to buy a good low-end (if good and low-end go together) phone. However, since I cannot use *228 to transfer to the new phone, will Webworld help me in getting the phone number transferred? If yes, what are the suggestions for a Rs 3000 and below phones with a RUIM and a PC connectivity? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Regards -PK
  13. Broken Phone - How To?

I managed to fix the phone. Opened my classic 101, soldered the battery connector, and the phone is up and working. Looks like a bad soldering by JinPeng manufacturing setup This is a useful exercise for me. Does any of the LG 3xxx phones have a USB connectivity (I can buy the cable from somewhere if it does not come with the cable by default). Thanks -PK
  14. Motorola Moto Razor V3m

Today, I'm planning to go to Reliance WW to get a new mobile to replace my broken Classic phone. I was told on another forum that LG has good budget phones. I would like to know about alternatives to LG. I had seen Moto Razr v3 phone earlier and seem to like its looks. However, it was expensive at that time. Is Reliance still offering Razr v3? If yes, what is its approx price and how is its performance? Does it come with a PC connectivity? -PK * Thanks mod for merging the thread *
  15. Broken Phone - How To?

Thanks for a quick response. I'll go to WW to check the LG handsets. -PK
  16. Classic Datacables

  17. Classic 101

summary: This is just a phone with minimum features. If you want phone+tons of other features, try something else. I'm using this phone for the past two weeks. So far, for the pricing of Rs 1050, this phone is good. The voice quality and reception are good. It holds the charge for two days (don't know what it does in the long run). The plastic body is does not appear to be rugged (did not try to throw it on the floor similar to what people do with Nokia phones). The keys are soft. However, when you touch them they seem to be very loose, which reminds you that you should not let it fall off your hands. The basic features of this phone are good enough for a normal user who does not want fancy features. A big turn-off with this phone is the screen resolution. The fonts look like dot-matrix printed sheet. Even though it is a way to fool people, the color background (a color paper in the background) looks good. -PK
  18. Charger For Kyocera 7135

Yesterday my kyocera phone started giving continuous beeps when I connected the charger to the phone. Also, when I connect to the usb cradle, I see the red light blinking whether I put the battery or not. I'm assuming that the charger has gone nuts. Please suggest some source for the charger for the kyocera 7135 phone. I called webworld and they said I should contact kyocera service center. -PK
  19. Kyocera 7135 - Programming Menu

On some of the US based kyocera discussion forums there was a mention about some "code" to get to the programming menu. According to those discussions, first 111111 (six ones) have to be dialled. Then a six digit code has to be entered. This code is set by the service provider. I'm wondering if anyone in this forum knows about this 6 digit code for Reliance. I would like to keep it handy incase it is needed at any point. -PK
  20. Bitpm - Kyocera 7135

Hi, If 00000 SPC code does not work for u then the following procedure might help in getting the SPC code. The following procedure was listed somewhere for SE47. However, it also works for 7135. Well it took some doing but here it is How to find your SPC (Service Programming Code) for Kyocera 7135 using BitPim. 0. Put Kyocera 7135 in service programming mode (hold back light button for around 10 seconds - while holding this tap with stylus on fax/modem - Select "service programming mode") 1. Connect Serial Data cable to 7135 and open BitPim 2. Expand the folder NVM and the sub folder NVM 3. Double click on the file nvm_security 4. The last 6 digits on the bottom right hand side are the SPC for your phone. I've found two 6 digit numbers. One works with 7135 service programming menu. Another code works with PST software. Don't know why two numbers Also, if you cannot see folder information in BitPim. Try resetting the 7135 and try the above procedure. Happy exploration. -PK
  21. Reliance Pst For Kyocera 7135

  22. Reliance Accepts Outside Handsets.

Can you elaborate on this? What type of phone is this? What did you do to make it work with Reliance? All details, eventhought redundant, will be helpful. Thanks. PK
  23. Some Secret & Hidden Codes!

Hi Vishal, Thank you very much for a quick reply. In one of my web searches I came across the following information about SID on http://www.ifast.org/NationalSID.htm 14655-14674 India—Reliance So, this is what I understand from the information you gave me. Reliance will assign one or more of these SIDs to mobile phones to track the home/roaming areas for each mobile phone. Thus, when I take a connection from Reliance by buying a Reliance phone (with an unassigned number), Reliance will program the phone with SID, etc. Thanks once again. -PK
  24. Some Secret & Hidden Codes!

HI Vishal, Thank you for the information. For most of the kyocera phones I find the following Enter SID (4654) and scroll to SAVE and press OK What is a SID number? Is this number related to the provider? Is this for Reliance? Using the keypad enter the 10 digit MIN What is a 10-digit MIN? -PK
