Clarification for Unlimited* Plan of NetConnect Broadband+
chandanbs posted a topic in Data services
Hi folks, If anyone of you taken this plan (Platinum Unlimited for Postpaid), let me know if my understanding is correct or am i missing something altogether..! I recently upgraded to this plan starting january 2011. Till 15 gb, the speeds were around 2-3 mbps. But after this cap, my speed was reduced to less than 30 kBps which is understandable from this so called Unlimited usage plan. But, to my surprise, i started getting good speeds upto 150-180 kBps which is around 1440 kbps (1.4 Mbps). Because of this, my total download/uploads has come up to a whopping 28 gb (so its 13 gb more than the capped 15 gb). And, the speeds are pretty good. My only worry is, Am i facing some weird plan or this plan is too good to be true..:-). I just hope that, this plan after the 15 gb cap, it is unlimited as they say (even if the speeds are much more than 144kbps). Please let me know if any of you are experiancing this situation of good speeds even after 15gb caps.. on this plan. Thanks, -
Are You Really Getting 3.1 Mbps Download Speed ?
chandanbs replied to chandanbs's topic in Data services
Thanks folks. Yes i have a severe dip in my download speeds. And one strange thing i observed just now is : i was using it between 9 to 10 pm today and speed was great ..hovering around 280-300 KBps and i had a torrent getting downloaded at 160 KBPS constant speed. Because of this crazy offpeak and onpeak restrictions on my connection, i switched off and switched on the modem after 10 pm and resumed these downloads. Now, my download speed is not going >50 KBPs, and its 45 minutes passed, speed is abyssimally low. I dont know whats going on Arun, can you please try this weird behaviour also? -
Hi folks, For the past few weeks i have been seeing sudden drop in download speeds. I used to get up to 340 K Bytes per second of download speed. Now, its maxed out at around 105 K bytes per second. I live in Bangalore, certainly its raining more these days but still during earlier rainy days, my download speeds were much better. Have you been noticing this also? Please let me know. I will file a complaint soon. Thanks in advance.

Any Way To Calculate Offpeak And Onpeak Data Traffic?
chandanbs replied to chandanbs's topic in Data services
Hi folks, i have been trying to log my on-peak and off peak hours for my Broadband+ postpaid connection. But, i've not been able to calculate exactly because of the following reasons. 1. Say for example you start your connection at 9pm (which is on peak) and extend upto 12 am (where 1 hour peak + 2 hour offpeak), the data report on the Reliance shows the composite addition for the time it was connected. here, it would be for 3 hours.. and data traffic .. for example.. 4 gb. We cant make out how much data was consumed between 9 to 10. I have asked customer care many many times, and they always point me to the website which gives this kind of ambiguous reports. Is there a solution? Is RIM coming up with a better breakage of these off peak and on peak data logs? God only knows. I hope some of RIM folks are reading this forum and atleast improve the "customer satisfaction" and "customer queries" I only like one thing: that is the speed of this connection. its superfast and data transfer rate going upto 340 KB/sec !!. -

Hi folks, Has anyone found a new way or got a hassle free way of knowing how much data traffic we have consumed since the billing cycle start? For example, for a offpeak 10GB limit and onpeak 10GB limit, has anyone made a formula in xls sheet so that we copy the data traffic into an xls sheet and it gives our offpeak and onpeak usage in MB's.... :-) I will try to work on it in my free time. I've attached my data traffic for sample.. any excel lovers .. please put some formulae and give us a template for all Reliance Broadband+ users. Thank you. Reliance_NetConnect_June_July2009.xls

Hi all, I have few questions that were not answered by Reliance Broadband+ Customer Care. 1. I have a 1099/- per month, citywide plan of 10 GB cap for download/upload limit (24 hours for the entire month). As you already aware, the billing cycle is from 8th to 7th of subsequent months. The bill gets generated after 7th for the previous month. That was what happened to me on my first month. For the first month, i had crossed the data limit and had to pay a hefty fee not knowing completely the actual billing cycle and prorata calculation. My issue: i used around 9.6 GB (9812 MB) out of my 10 GB cap for the complete month (May 2009) and on 8th my connection gets deactivated. Why would that be as i haven't crossed the limit? 2. The Customer Care person tells me that i have crossed my credit limit of 1900. What does that mean? how this number is actually affecting my usage? 3. This time i dont see my bill getting generated for the May 2009. last time i paid through online and the moment i paid, the connection got activated. This time, i have not even received my bill and they have cut my connection. There is not even a sms or email stating what is the status of my bill and any penalties.... 4. just on 6th of june, i received a call from Customer Care, they said they are foregoing my extra-download fee (of around 5000 Rs for 2500 MB of data) since i am a first time user and they said they have a better plan of 1299/- per month (that is 200 Rs extra topup for another 10 GB topup which is for the night time between 10 pm to 6 am), i agreed for the same upgradation. After this my account got deactivated. I'm somehow in a state of confusion. Reliance Webworld is quite far from where i live and i dont even know how to pay the bill online now. :-((. Can someone answer my questions please? This connection is looking like a Dr Jekyll Mr Hide for me :-). Thanks in advance.

Reliance Netconnect Broadband Plus Billing Cycle
chandanbs replied to chandanbs's topic in Data services
Hi all, i agree with all of you guys. But, somethings are so complicated with "customer care" fellows that they dont clearly say what the billing cycle for my connection is. i had raised this issue with one of CC guys, they first told me that your billing cycle starts from 28th of everymonth. Then, i argued, why i have been charged till 7th, there was no answer from that person. He said he will look into it. One thing i observe, its very hard to keep up and monitor the data usage in this type of connection. I now realised it!!. Since the speed is so unbelievable, and if you are the guy who downloads movies of 700 MB size couple of times a week, and turn on Microsoft Auto Updates feature, then it will quickly drain your bandwidth of 10 GB in no time. To tell you the fact, i downloaded few movies 5-6 and had turned on my Vista auto-updates, i have now used up 8.1 GB in 12 days and still 17 more days to go!!!! -
Reliance Netconnect Broadband Plus Billing Cycle
chandanbs replied to chandanbs's topic in Data services
then why did i have billing cycle of 20th to 21th in tata indicom and 7th to 7th in Reliance? i used to have a due date of 5th of everymonth for tata indicom and now.. for reliance the due date is 15th of every month. -
Hi folks, i thought of sharing the Reliance NetConnect Broadband Plus billing cycle details to newcomers. I had bought the EVDO Huwei modem on 17th of April and got it activated on 20th April 2009. I happily downloads couple of movies and used around 9 GB till 7th May thinking that the billing cycle would be till 20th of May. To my horror, i received the bill on 8th May with over limit charges for (2.5 GB => 5000 Rs) even though i hadnt crossed 10 GB limit. And my connection became inactive even though the last date for paying bills is May 25. A Reliance customer care guy calls me and says your have crossed your limit and thats why its deactivated till you pay the bill. Then, i recalculated the days of usage and found its between 20th April and 7th May thats around 17 days. They have calculated the usage on pro-rata basis, so it would be somewhere around 5-6 GB for 17 days which i found out only today!!!!!!!!!!!!. And the billing cycle is actually starts from [8th of month x to 7th of next month]. Guys who are getting it activated in the late of any month, beware to use the net meagerly and make sure your limits for the first month.!!!!!! Tata indicom has a billing cycle of 20 to 20 of every month, and i fell into this trap.

Hi all, i live in HSR Layout, Bangalore. I recently bought This BB+ connection with Huawei modem. First of all, i had quite a lot of problems getting it activated due to various silly reasons and mistakes done by Reliance guys. I had it successfully installed on 20th April. First 3 days the speed was .... tops 3.1 Mbits/sec. i downloaded the XMen origins pre-release copy (around 1.3 GB) in 45 minutes. I had a 310 KB/s top speed while using utorrent which was quite stable. But the next days comes the sudden change in speeds... max upto 160 KB/s only. Although www.speed.io shows upto 2Mbits/sec, i am not able to get good speeds while downloading movies. Let me know if you guys also facing this kinda issue. Thanks,
