Another first from Airtel.. Other operators: Now copy soon -
I would just like to add, BPL Mobile in Mumbai is better amongst the worst. Its better in terms of its network, but it CC is hopeless and pathetic. Obviously, Reliance is the best in terms of network and no one can beat it.

Dot Wakes Up To The Broadband State
vmsanghrajka replied to Honest's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
They should resolve last-mile connectivity issue or else go for Wi-Max.. Private operators should be allowed to use BSNL infrastructure, which will foster better service at reasonable rates.. -
Vodafone is worst in Mumbai.. I am using Vodafone since it was MaxTouch.. Its gone from bad to worst now..Talk plans are bad, CC is hopeless and Call drops are rampant and happens almost every 2nd call.. I think they should upgrade their network rather than stupidly spending on Ads..

Updated: 3G Auction completed after 34 days of bidding
vmsanghrajka replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
I think otherwise. I believe, on-net calls would be offered by almost all operators then.. MNP will usher lots of competition which will be good for us.. I know lot of us believe that calling rates would go up, but i believe otherwise.. MNP will mean better service and cheap calling rates (unless big operators form a 'cartel').. -

Anil Ambani buys 10% in French WiMax chip-maker May roll out 4G services with help of Sequans Communications. Firming up his plans to offer telephony over the WiMax platform, Anil Ambani has acquired a 10 per cent stake in Sequans Communications, a French WiMax chip manufacturer. MAXIMISING SCOPE # WiMax is a telecommunications technology providing wireless data over long distances through various modes # Sequans Communications is a semi-conductor manufacturer and provides system-on-chip solutions for both fixed and mobile WiMax services # A stake in Sequans will help Reliance Communication access latest technologies and a faster rollout of the technology # The investment was made through Reliance Technology Ventures (RTVL), the corporate venture capital arm of the Reliance ADAG The investment was made through Reliance Technology Ventures (RTVL), the corporate venture capital arm of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) and a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Capital. However, the amount of investment could not be ascertained. WiMax, or Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, is a telecommunications technology providing wireless data over long distances through various modes. According to analysts, RCom is looking at offering 4G services in the country, bypassing 3G WiMax, like telecom giant Sprint Communications has done in the US. At present, Wimax is being provided over the 2G platform. A stake in Sequans will help it access latest technologies and a faster rollout of the technology. Sequans Communications is a semi-conductor manufacturer and provides system-on-chip solutions for both fixed and mobile WiMax services. The company also offers chip technologies for network components like femtocells (small cellular base stations), base stations, subscriber terminals and home gateways, among others. It also holds the patent for MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output communications), a mobile WiMax technology, and has tie-ups with equipment manufacturers like Taiwan’s TECON. Global telecom majors such as Alcatel Lucent, Motorola, Societe Generale Asset Management, Add Partners, Cap-Decisif and a clutch of venture capitalists are among others holding stake in the French chip-maker. The WiMax chip market is expected to grow to $2 billion by next financial year. RTVL officials confirmed the development but declined to provide the exact percentage of stake nor the investment amount. Reliance Communications (RCom), the telecom and internet venture of Reliance ADAG, is betting big on WiMax and has even launched the services in Pune and Bangalore. It is in the process of rolling out services in 10-12 cities, including the metros. Source: http://www.business-standard.com/common/ne...13442&tab=r
