  2. All about LG RD6000

seems like all problems have been solved with the new launch of: http://www.rimweb.indcables.com/ i'll post once i get the cables
  3. Beyond Netway

Netway already comes with VoD now. I've been using it for over 2 weeks... its simply an icon in the main menu / home screen (top right)
  4. PDA - Kyocera 7135 Palm

I agree - it should be cut by 5-10K at least. My guess is that only about 100-200 would have been sold to date.
  5. Choispad 110 / NETWAY

i also don't understand why it loses all recorded data when it crashes - its supposed to be a hard disk - non-volatile memory. this is a major issue since it crashes daily for me now after 10-20 min of recording TV...
  6. All about LG RD6000

actually i should have mentioned i needed USB cables for my laptop the ones online seem to be serial...
  7. Which Is Better LG 6000 Or LG 6130

actually the RD6000 is 10 K not 7 K but i get your point... i would have been happy to pay more for bette resolution though.
  8. Data Cable For Kyocera

is that a CDMA handset? also depends which city/town you are in. RIM has only one Kyocera so far and there's a sub-section for the 7135 smartphone...
  9. Which Is Better LG 6000 Or LG 6130

http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/digital-camera5.htm i don't think anyone can have 'high quality' with low detail in a photo. pls do post your 'great images' (as long as they are from a 0.3 Mp cam phone held in your hand - a regular digicam can always be placed on a tripod for steady shots) ...
  10. Delhi Police Slaps Case On Reliance

Oh come on now! are you serious?
  11. All about LG RD6000

anyone know if the data cables for other LG CDMA handsets might also work for RD6000? just wanted to avoid buying a brand new one since its about: 1,570/- FYI: other accesories - 12V car charger = 635/- Handsfree = 165/- Hansfree car kit (speakerphone) = 3,245/- seems like the generic cables & chargers are yet to hit the market in bulk for this model... :-(
  12. What Is Broadband?

fully agree but if we can't even get bijli, sadak, pani to the bottom half of the population, its highly unlikely we'll have world class broadband ...
  13. All about LG RD6000

i have not been able to send any MMS to any GSM yet but that maybe due to an interconnect issue between operators probably dealing with revenue share...
  14. Which Is Better LG 6000 Or LG 6130

the picture quality is below avg as can be expected from a 0.3 Mpix cam - you need a min 1 Mp cam for decent quality my problem is that the shutter speed seems to be quite slow so if my hand twitches slightly, i get a blurred image which is quite bad and independent of resolution PS: even though i have mentioned it before - i still cant get over the lack of speakerphone or IR or ascending ring vol! quite bad ...
  15. All about LG RD6000

ok, i found the sync software: my prob was i went to the wrong site - lgmobile.com instead of lgmobileS.com !
  16. All about LG RD6000

I con't seem to find any IR port on the handset. Pls don't tell me it does not have any IR or speakerphone?! The navigation keys are too close to the other buttons and my thumb keeps pressing the soft keys or CLR by mistake! I was shocked to find out that ascending ring volume is not an option as has been the case in Nokia for many years now... The vibe mode only works alone or with max volume - it should have been available at all vol levels. At least it has auto redial and voice memos ... The strangets thing is that there is no mention of a website we could go for downloading any software to allow the backup of the data on a PC. I called the customer center at: 96220-00001 and they gave me 2 landlines: 3098-0306 & 2765-7705 both of which were busy. So the next time they gave me 2 mobiles: 98200-98916 (Mr Vishwas) & 98201-37910 (Mr Shailesh) the 1st was busy while the 2nd had no pickup I spent 10-20 min on yahoo & msn searching around for LG mobile websites with no luck. Wonder why a URL is so hard to obtain...
  17. A Few Questions

as a new user of netway (1 week old!), i'm telling you the reality - 1 (or even 0.5) Mb/s is out of the question for broadband for now start lowering your expectations to avoid major disappointment later PS: only pricing is speculation, the rest is factual
  18. A Few Questions

some of your questions have already been addressed here: http://www.rimweb.com/forums/index.php?sho...findpost&p=7928 but if any are still remaining, do post them also PS: forget about 100 or even 10 Mb/s, you will not get 1 Mb/s 256 Kb/s is the most you can expect for now... i would be quite happy with paying: 250 for cable 250 for broadband (128 Kb/s) or 500 for unlimited (256 Kb/s) 250 for unlimited VoD for a total of 750-1,000 monthly
  19. You Be The Judge

I think Rs. 1 crore/day for the rest of Anil's life would be a reasonable settlement...
  20. Choispad 110 / NETWAY

yes, i agree the clarity is 10-20% better than normal cable but i still miss HBO! i'll have to check the software version but it updates automatically so its the latest one i would like to be able to search for movies/songs and sort the displayed results for faster selection (VoD) it starts to overheat after 2-3 hours of use and reboots in the middle without warning! fortunately i was watching a movie so i could resume where it left off House of Rock was very funny - i was up till 3am laughing away! the movie downloads need 10-20 min to buffer enough for uninterrupted viewing so we should be able to flip channels as it downloads in the background currently its not quite possible free is free though...
  21. Choispad 110 / NETWAY

kb/s = bits KB/s = bytes so 130 kb/s = 16 KB/s there is no HDTV - that would require a new set/display with double the resolution no STB can make any TV a HDTV well i lost my handset for starters and happened to move into a complex in the trial zone/area! PS: i tried the VCR features and they are quite bad so i have to rate it as below avg also you can't set up a recurring recording like: star world from 6pm for 30 min Mon-Fri or BBC every Thu from 7pm for 30min such features were possible in VCRs over 5 years ago! there is also an arbitrary limit of 1 week for scheduling a recording so yesterday i saw a weekly program that i wanted to record for next Thu and was unable to since the window was only till next wed! this is totally retarded - since it won't take extra resources to store a timestamp for next month or next quarter (data is data after all).
  22. Choispad 110 / NETWAY

Finally! it took over a week of waiting but the choispad was installed last night. the broadband was very good - i tested it at cnet: http://reviews.cnet.com/7004-7254_7-0.html i was getting 130 kb/s avg/sustained which is office/work speed the peak rate was around double that in bursts the 'landline' feature was useless, you have to use the remote and you can only call other netway users i'm never going to be using that... the VoD was quite good - over 100 english & over 200 hindi movies with more being added almost monthly the recording feature is good in theory, i'll comment after i actually use it the channel selection was mostly better than normal cable but HBO was not available which was sad the internet access was a big dissappointment - the web page does not fit onto the TV! so you have to scroll sideways when reading email which is annoying enough to put me off - i'd rather use my laptop to check email they should have a zoom feature so we can make a page fit across a TV screen so my final ratings: telephony - useless (waste of resources) internet on tv - bad (but usable in extreme situations/emergencies) cable - average/acceptable interactive tv (rewind/pause/record live broadcasts) - good VoD - good broadband - very good since i'm not paying for it yet (first month free), its acceptable but i would not want to pay more than 500/month for this including taxes & STB rental if we assume about 50 for taxes & 100 for the rental, that leaves about 350 for the services the rechargable remote is a good idea but i don't see why a corded remote is also provided - like any mobile, we should be able to use it while its charging the 'online' help was barely avg with pauses every few min for the streaming video to get downloaded the voice style/tone was quite poor (not the audio quality but the human skill) for the help videos i stick by my earlier opinion - the remotes are UGLY and need to be taken out back and shot without a trial! overall compared to the hype it misses the mark as usual...
  23. Choispad 110 / NETWAY

no clue about charges yet but i just moved to a new complex and its part of the 'trial region' in the suburbs bottom line is FREE installation which is a big deal since it will take 3 people 2 days of drilling/cutting to install the wiring inside the external wiring was already in place about 3-6 months ago
  24. Choispad 110 / NETWAY

The work has begun today to install the wiring in my apt for netway! Can't wait to join the exclusive club. But don't ask me any questions yet, i'll be able to comment after a week or so...
