excellent news for consumers - it levels the playing field due to the stalemate now settlement talks can begin for next year status quo will be maintained until all patent lawsuits get resolved android will carry on since competition is in the larger public interest in fact i think that the number of andriod mobiles will exceed iphones specially in asia [i'm not an andriod user but have an ipad]

Please suggest handset with Qwerty, Slider, Touch, Dual SIM, Camera & Flash
city02 replied to city02's topic in Other handsets
after 6 months of searching, i have shortlisted the samsung galaxy y pro duos it has dual sim, qwerty, touchscreen, 3mp camera, andriod but no flash or slider for around rs. 9.5 k is there anything else that's either cheaper or with slider at the same price out there i just don't like spending rs. 10 k on a handset since my current one was half the cost [b3210 corby txt] am i missing any handset out there? i was told that it has 2,000 sms capacity compared to just 1,000 sms on my current b3210 ironically the memory card has 19 mb free yet there is no way to copy or archive my sms to the card! what a waste of space ... i could have easily used the corby for a few years more if i did not have to keep deleting sms every week none of the lets buy links were working last month when i checked ... -
while multi touch is a tough patent to challenge, disappearing scroll bars have been around long before any iphone or even ipod so there could be a meaningful legal challenge to that patent also apple's patents are only valid for north america and possibly europe they don't have jurisdiction globally specially in india / most of asia the EU can always force compulsory licensing in the public interest for which there is a legal precedent

Reliance To Offer Full Length Movies On 3G Platform
city02 replied to M.S.Rao's topic in Data services
i still think this will flop until pricing is reduced by half to below rs. 15 / movie since 99% will not want to watch video on tiny mobile screens for more than 5-10 min duration maybe handsets that can connect to a tv would help but i find 3g so slow that i gave it up and switched to wi-fi for my ipad2 0.5 mbps on wifi felt faster than 3mb/s on 3g lets see if 4g can make a difference ... -
there is no device on the planet that is 'future proof' all electronics go obsolete eventually regardless of any marketing hype of new technology outside electronics, probably knives and fire would be future proof! at least they have been around for centuries... in a decade, dth itself will start getting replaced by iptv / 4g / broadband so no ugly dishes / external wiring would be required at all with unlimited storage capacity in a 'cloud' also you would be able to directly add / drop any channel / pack from the remote instead of sms / email etc. remember dvd rentals going bankrupt due to hd recorders?

the isp can do whatever they want just like tv channels insert ads during the program this is obviously not permitted in other countries but there are no laws against it no legal remedy can be sought against any isp but you are always free to spend your time and money trying your luck in consumer court we are like this only ... -

city02 replied to rajanmehta's topic in General Technical Discussion
http://www.letsbuy.com/sony-soundbar-sa-32se1-p-21909 we just bought our 1st soundbar and were surprised that a sony was the cheapest the sound quality was much better than our 32" LG plasma and easily filled our room at half volume it was so nice that now we are looking for a 2 in 1 adaptor to plug our dvd player also since it has a usb this will allow us to listen to mp3 without using the tv at all does anyone know of a better deal [under rs. 5 k including all s&h charges]? the next cheapest one was almost triple the price [samsung but it has a wireless subwoofer also] we actually thought it might be a fake or used product since it was so cheap!- 6,376 replies

2G Scam: Supreme Court Quashes 122 Licences issued in 2008
city02 replied to csmart's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
a majority of the companies whose licenses were cancelled did nothing wrong except follow the govt process at the time. the SC made bad case law by cancelling without refund of fees and interest lost. the govt did not suffer at all due to its bad policies [jailing of some politicians is not the same as reimbursing financial losses] only companies and customers get shafted as usual principles of natural justice violated we are like this only 3rd world = 3rd class mindset too india is becoming a joke abroad and we still dream of a permanent seat on the UN SC [not in this century at this rate] china is more foreign investor friendly and double the market size of us no one will need to invest here anymore after the vodafone tax dispute can anyone hear the sound of us become irrelevant internationally? -
i hate having to pay for std and roaming charges just to call delhi cc when roaming outside NCR do other gsm operators also have this issue? or is it only for vodafone?
-
moneycontrol is blocked for us can someone paste the article?
-
how is that legal? we r paying rs 400 for 2 tv monthly in mumbai your cable guy must be under declaring! its rs. 250 for single tv in deonar ... after switching to dth we expect to be still paying the same or about rs. 400 mthly
-
the RWE / WWE in kopar khairne has discontinued sale of all handsets including BB has this happened anywhere else? is there any BB cdma handset that will work with a gsm like vodafone also? dual sim type i still need access to my lotus notes from work [bES?]
-
but my company does not support any non-BB handset for office email how will andriod connect with the mail server without permission?
-
does anyone using TS+ HD have this 'pixelation' problem: during any dark / night scenes you can see large circular artifacts probably due to compression these are not seen from any other source like dvd or cable tv so its not a problem with the LG 32" plasma screen it even happens on the HD channels like star world and SD like fox crime

Reliance Communications & Google In Exclusive Tie-Up For Android Handsets In India
city02 replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Communications
i disagree brand associations are very fickle if it were that easy to manage customer perceptions, any telco could have associated with a luxury brand and improved its image: imagine airtel offering a free iphone4 with every merc sold or vodafone offering a free android handset and sim with every bmw the reality simply does not work that way there is no easy way out no quick fix to your reputation it actually takes years of hard work and improving customer service as opposed to an ad campaign no matter how long or expensive i agree we should wait and see but the writing is already on the wall for such tie ups -
Reliance Communications & Google In Exclusive Tie-Up For Android Handsets In India
city02 replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Communications
i doubt it very much good for google - but a money loser for rcom rcom will spend rs. 30 cr of its own money for ads / media spends while google will only put the same amount in online ads which is a notional cost if google had spent the same amt of its actual money on other sites not owned by it then it would be comparable investments google will have book keeping entries only with no real cash changing hands unlike rcom the projection of 2 lakh handsets is too optimistic - i expect barely 1.5 lakh also its very unlikely to retain 2/3rd of customers as rcom subs - i guess it'll be below half that's a total of hardly 75 k vs projection of 133 k lets assume that rcom gets the max of rs. 300 arpu which is impossible from ALL its retained subs at an acquisition cost of rs. 30 cr = almost 3 k / subs that's 10-11 months to 'recover' the ad cost alone do keep in mind this is not breakeven yet with margins of hardly 9-10% that's rs. 30 net monthly or 8 years to cash flow breakeven! nice job rcom! they would have been better off simply pre-paying debt by 30 cr and reducing interest charges by almost rs. 3 Cr / year from day 1 instead of waiting 8 years to breakeven ... keep in mind this is assuming ZERO churn which impossible and no interest of all its outstanding debt which avg is about 10-11% annually else it will push out the breakeven further out to beyond 16 yrs! who keeps the same handset beyond 5-6 yrs? -
does anyone know if its possible to build a site that can enter data into the page for IT dept? https://onlineservices.tin.nsdl.com/etaxnew/PopServlet?rKey=-1577962291 the main problem is that for repeat payers, there is no provision for saving all the contact details and its a pain to re-enter that every quarter. then we only have to verify and enter the security code at the bottom manually which can't be automated.

have you tried 3rd party sites like: https://www.gorecharge.com/

so how do i know the available space in gb? TS+ only shows % free which is not helpful
-
you may have found out that TS+ has ESPN HD since Diwali last year the only issue is the pixelation / artifacts during any dark / night scenes which is very noticeable even in HD

AirTel DTH 500 GB i've been waiting for the highest capacity recorder but they do not seem to have launched yet already have TS+ HD but over 120 gb is blocked for useless VOD services so usable is hardly 370-380 gb but if airtel launches it, there will be more recording capacity than TS+ while the dish tv solution of usb is ideal to remove any limits, i actually want both: internal and external / portable storage space in my dth
