Converting Non Ruim Vx 6600 To Ruim, If Interested, I Can Try
prakritish replied to kshah's topic in Other handsets
It would be really great if somebody could create a sort of tutorial for converting a non-ruim based reliance cdma phones to RUIM based ones. Preferably one with multiple parts i.e., for ones with RUIM Slots and one for Non-RUIM slots. Also for different makes, with details like * Hardware, Software and Cables required. * Where can we purchase the H/W and Cable and where can we download software from, etc.. * steps for the conversion... * pictorials (if any) for soldering, jumper settings, etc... It will be best if you can post it in rimweb, but if any of you have these kind of tutorial/guide and unwilling to post it on the web because of various restrictions, it would be great if you could mail me one to prakritish.rimweb#yahoo.com Thanks, Prakritish Note: Please replace # with @ for my email id. -
For blocking incoming calls from a particular number, browse the menu to Menu->Settings->Security Settings**->Call Restrictions->Restrict Incoming Calls->Add Restriction->Enter Number & then name ** You may have to enter security code, which is generally 1234 or 12345. This will work only for Nokia CDMA handsets.

I am not saying Reliance is good, but I and another friend of mine had very bitter experience with Tata Indicom. As long as everything goes fine, Tata might be better now. But when things start going bad, try talking to Tata Indicom call centre. First of all every time you call them you need to repeat the whole history, and sometimes even in the same call i.e., if it gets transferred to somebody else. I don't know whether they do not know to use a computer or they are just reluctant to put the full compliant details in the history or may be they just dont want to read. Every other call centre employee will give you different answers and different time frames to fix an issue. And their billing system is totally screwed up. Advice to all of you please check your bills regularly, and also check your rate plan mentioned at the top of the bill (1st page), because all of a sudden you may notice that you have different rate plan all together. Also I saw Reliance at least avoids changing the terms and condition of a rate plan, i.e., if you are in one rate plan then till the time you opt out your terms and conditions remains the same (except in few cases), but with Tata Indicom you can not be sure. My terms and conditions were changed thrice in the first two years I was using Tata Indicom (within the same plan). Also your plan change can happen only in the next billing cycle, and if you miss the deadline you'll have to wait for another month for your rate plan to change. Take care guys, BEWARE of Tata Indicom. It might happen the people might start calling you Indicom like we call one of my friends because of his regular early morning calls/followups with Tata Indicom Now everybody knows him as Indicom.

Does anybody has the details of the new plans? Specially the 900UL plan? I picked up a rumored post from another forum. It is as follows: Rumored BSNL Broadband packages starting from next year One of the members on the Indian Broadband Forum has posted these new packages mentioned in a local newspaper. We cannot confirm the accuracy of these packages though: The new plans (according to a local paper) from 1st January 2007 are - Home 250 - 1GB limit, 90 paisa per MB over the limit. Home 500 - 2.5GB limit, 80 paisa per MB over the limit. Home 1000 - 5GB limit, 80 paisa per MB over the limit. Home 1800 - 10GB limit, 70 paisa per MB over the limit. Home 3300 - 20GB limit, 70 paisa per MB over the limit. Night Unlimited on all Home plans except Home 250 is from 8 PM to 8 AM now. There is no mention of the Home 900 UL plan. Business 700 - 4GB limit, 80 paisa per MB over the limit. Business 1200 - 8GB limit, 80 paisa per MB over the limit. Business 3000 - 20GB limit, 50 paisa per MB over the limit. Business 5000 - 35GB limit, 50 paisa per MB over the limit. Business 9000 - 75GB limit, 50 paisa per MB over the limit. Users are now more interested in knowing the status of Home 900 UL package. However, getting over 1mbps speeds on these cheap packages at night time is still a very good deal.

Did you changed your rim handset from a non mms phone to this one? If so, then maybe your profile is not updated yet. Actually it started working after sending a few MMS from my phone. Thnx.

Try sending a MMS from your mobile first. I have a N-6235. Initially I was also getting the same message, but after sending a MMS from my mobile, the link got activated.

I purchased a Nokia 6235 recently (which I believe has a RUIM slot). Mine is a Postpaid connection, is it possible to get it converted to RUIM based from Reliance? If yes, how and where to get it done (legally) and how much would it cost? Also, will I be able to use the RUIM on any other RUIM supported phone as well as any GSM phones? -
I recently purchased a Nokia 6235 (which is camera phone). But when I login to bill.relianceinfo.com and click on MMS, it says: "Currently, MMS service through this portal is not supported for the kind of handset you are using ! This feature will be enabled soon." Do I need to register what type of handset I have somewhere? If yes where?

Hi Guys, What ever you do, don't go for Tata. I had a Tata FWP which I got it discinnected, and still have Tata CDMA Mobile. The service is pathetic, and call centre guys are all dumb. I disconnected my CDMA mobile disconnected once, but had to get it reconnected because of the investment I made in buying the CDMA mobile upfront. Both my connections are almost 3 yrs old. For the last 2 mnths Tata has been billing me incorrectly. They adjusted the excess amount in next months bill after complaining, but again this month there is excess billing. I have Do More 399 subscription (which is written in the bill also), but the calculation inside shown are of Get More 399 which has very high call rates. My sincere suggestion, take up GSM phones if you want to, but don't ever fall in the trap of Tata Indicom.
