RCom has sold 50000 towers for 50k crores, so approx. 1 tower sold for 1C.. But cost of tower is anywhere between 40 to 60L only... So with extra 40L (per tower) RCom can pay rental for towers for few years imho.. OK.. What will be the benefit (if exists) for RCom users by this deal??? Simply put, this deal is good or bad for RCom users like us here???

Still much cheaper than what TATA guys charging here in RoTN... For BB8830, they are asking Rs21650/- + TAX 4% These ridiculous prices are one of the reasons for me to decide either to get number programmed in foreign handset or quitting CDMA altogether.. But for my luck, I got a nice handset of nice price, with extra-ordinary support from Hitesh Bhai.. CDMA operators should try to earn from Data charges and voice calls and NOT by selling handsets @ ridiculous prices.. If so, they will loose some serious high-end customers..

Dear Sharafudheen, With the current condition of RGsm, it is too cruel to compare it with Docomo's plans/network .. Yes, GPRS tariff of RGsm is costly, to avoid users from using it for GPRS and avoid increasing n/w congestion...

Heard that Videocon is going to give FREE Videocon SIM with this handset.. It is a really great idea as tariffs of Videocon are rock-bottom and customer will get calls on both numbers and it can reach old GSM as well as CDMA customers as well..

Go for SAMSUNG MFD.. I am using one (Bk Laser Print, Scan, Copier functions)... Simple to use and cheap too.. Cost around 5 to 6k.. Nowadays some models come with WiFi too for easy connectivity, but they either comes with InkJet printers or very costly if comes with Laser type.. Please avoid Inkjet printers as their running cost is heavy and are prone to repairs, if not used frequently..

Yes... Except for Roaming users like me... Hope they will reduce roaming charges after their Pan-India launch.. MTS is the first one in CDMA gang to bring instant Balance on SMS after end of a call or SMS.. Hope they will bring smartphones with reasonable prices and teach a good lesson to Tata and Ambani groups..

Usually SAMSUNG hides the Airplane mode in Profiles section... Mostly in the last of the profile list as "Offline Profile".. Hope that helps..

Dear Abhishek, If you really want Indicom 1x UNLIMITED (without any FUP) go for postpaid PhotonWHIZ (1x) where the UNLIMITED plan (NEW from April2010) rent is just Rs699/month, here in TN... It is much better than the Prepaid Unlimited @ Rs849/-... Please confirm for this in your circle...

If Samsung wants to release the CDMA version of this, then it will replace CAPACITIVE screen with RESISTIVE, remove WiFi/GPS, degrade camera from 3.2MPx to 2/1.3MPx, make it OMH EVDO-Rev0 and sell it for Rs4000 MORE... Just like it has done with Corby..

Very TRUE Parin Ji... I am using Duos259.. It is having serious s/w (firmware) problems and n/w connectivity (coverage) issues, the worst I have used till now (even Huwaei and Haier were much better in terms of reception).. If I started writing my experiences of this phone, then nobody will buy this cr@p (Duos259)... The phone restarts @ the fall of hat, for example, just launch MusicPlayer to restart the mobile (Duos259)... I think SAMSUNG is using India as a waste-basket, just sending the rejected quality pieces to our country.. All SAMSUNG low-end handsets (Eg: B&W Hero from TATA) has VOICE-ECHO problems... Many people will remember the CD-Drives from SAMSUNG, with the CD-DOOR-STRUCK problem in PCs...!! Later they released CD-Drives with BLUE-LABELS saying that they rectified those problems, but still that door-strucking problem persisted then... LG is atleast better...

It is NOT just a locality, full ROTN (Rest of Tamil Nadu) circle.. As usual, heavy politics is behind this problem.. The problem is "Liver of Tata Indicom" in ROTN got decayed.. Capable TI staffs have already left TI and those vacancies are NOT AT ALL filled by TI.. Only worthless guys are sitting there, though under-paid.. Further they are also given unbearable work-load.. Guess, in this situation, if I came and ask them to activate my number in Foreign BB, what they will do??? THIS IS GOING ON IN RoTN circle.. Tatas are keen in cost cutting activities.. They are NOT even paying the incentives (for the target achieved), allowances (incl. travel, food and other expenses) of staff in FULL from NOVEMBER2009 (I don't know whether it is the management's fault or some MIDDLE-MAN eating others incentives).. As a result, nice staffs, who has stuff and having technical knowledge and willing to work has already left TI.. Few examples are Mr.Hari, a very good friend of me (Infact I got Treo800w from Hitesh, with only hope of him) didn't got allowances right from endOf2009 and left for Datacom during MarchEnd2010... Later Mr.LaxmiNarayan (Retention Dept. of TI) tried a lot to help me & finally said MEID based 800w is difficult and if I bring an E$N based set, then he will definitely help.. Guess what??? When Hitesh Bhai disabled MEID in 800w and made it E$N based, Mr.LaxmiNarayan also left TI for RGsm.. (I think he is Head there with salary upto 4 times he got in TI) In the mean time I got one BB8830 from HiteshBhai for my wife.. Now I am trying to load my wife's TI mobile number in it.. I got the help of them once again and got the Head number, Mr.Venu.. But the captain of TITANIC (the SINKING SHIP) said colourful lies in English, that TATAs have NEVER ACCEPTED Foreign Handsets, and if I know anyone whose foreign handset got activated in TATA, he will look into it and help me.. I said that "RATAN TATA used PALM Treo755p in TI", which is a foreign handset.. SupremeFireWorks from my hometown, SIVAKASI has used MotoQ in TI, which he bought from USA (but Unluckily, his whole group left TI, due to BAD network <<Another Story, will tell later>>, when I tried to contact him).. Later I got help from HiteshBhai once again, to give me few member's numbers who are using foreign handets in TI without any problems (of course after getting their permissions).. I got Mr.SumitVerma's (Thanks, Sir JI) number, which I have given to Mr.Venu and WAITING TO GET YET ANOTHER RIDICULOUS LIE from him.. Well, sometimes having good contacts in TI is NOT ENOUGH... Being a GOLD segment customer, I threatened that if I left TI, then my friends (MeenaPaper <GOLD>, VaanavilOffset <Silver>, RK Process<Blue>) will also leave TI.. They are COOL-LY saying that, "YOU CAN LEAVE ANY-TIME, THAT IS YOUR WISH".. You think, these people will help me???? Simple steps to do:- 1) Add foreign E$N to their DB 2) Associate my number with that E$N, give 14 digit code to me for activation (*228).. The problems are:- 1) Staffs are NOT happy in TI of RoTN.. Under-Paid, overLoad.. 2) So they are NOT AT ALL ready to help customers.. 3) Even worse, they Don't CARE if customers leave TI, in bulk.. 4) Just for last 2 months, N/W is CONGESTED and coverage has dropped... I think this is due to n/w guys activity to show their anger on TI.. The condition of SIVAKASI is even worse.. The dealer KJP (my distant relation) is NOT happy with TI.. No staff-in-charge for SIVAKASI.. Even the collection boy (ONLY ONE GUY) is planning to leave TI, due to heavy work-pressure (though he is paid GOOD) and NOT interested in answering customer's queries.. ------------------------------------------ Well, MY LONG RANT is not for our fellow members... It will be boring for them, I know.. But I know few Tata guys (atleast in Docomo) are here in rimweb, and this reply is dedicated to them... The TI(TANIC) ship is sinking down... Well, as expected our beloved RCom (I checked with my RGSM Prepaid, today) has hiked the R2R Local/STD/RoamLocal/RoamSTD 20p/min from Rs77 to Rs88 with 1 month validity... Well, the hike is NOT huge.. But still, it brings down the reliability, regarding the nice offers from RCom... Even I doubt, they may remove the pack later on.. With Ex-Airtel officials in RCom, this brings little surprise to me anyway.. So I am thinking of converting my RGsm PPS number to postpaid... Whether any pack similar to this R2R 20p/min is available as addon in RGsm?? Or any RoamIncoming FREE pack in RGsm, dear friends..?? As usual RCom web-site is of little or no help reg the addon-packs... Thanks a lot..

According to Airtel, ROAMING == MILKING.. Due to the same reason, I changed my primary number from Airtel to Tata.. As a punishment for selecting Airtel , please have a good look at other consumer friendly roaming tariffs from RCom and Tata, and feel :'( ------------------------------- Best roaming plan is with TataIndicom only.. CallIndiaRoam399 plan.. Rent Rs399/- FREE calls Rs300 (Local+STD) FREE SMS 399 (Local+STD+Roaming) FREE Unlimited CUG without rent (10 numbers in my group) FREE Tata2Tata (Incl Docomo, virgin) <<for me only >> Local 30p STD 50p Roaming Local/STD 50p 2000 ROAMING INCOMING CALLS FREE... To call my staffs (in CUG) I will give them missed call... They call me for FREE (CUG) and for myself incoming is FREE.. So total amount paid is Rs0.00..

Now for a difference, I want to show the circles missed by the operator, in the following list:- AIRTEL:- Mah+Goa, Gujarat, Kolkata, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, MP+CG, UP(E), Orissa VODAFONE:- AP, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, MP+CG, Rajastan, UP(W), HP, BIH+JKnd, NE, Assam, Orissa, Kashmir IDEA:- Delhi, Mumbai, Karnataka, TN, Kolkata, Rajastan, WBengal, BIH+JKnd, NE, Assam, Orissa If Airtel and Vodafone joined hands, they will still miss MP+CG, Kerala and Orissa... Even if the CARTEL tried (A+V+I) they will miss ORISSA circle.. Interestingly A+V can also select Docomo, instead of Idea to accomplish the same.. They need help of S-Tel/Aircel for Orissa.. (Even if Airtel+Voda joined hands with Aircel, they can't provide service in MP+CG). R_Gsm:- Mah+Goa, Gujarat, AP, TN, Karnataka, Kerala, Haryana, UP(W), UP(E) Docomo:- Delhi, Mumbai, AP, TN, Kolkata, WBengal, UP(E), HP, Bih+JKnd, NE, Assam, Kashmir, Orissa Aircel:- Delhi, Mumbai, Mah+Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, MP+CG, Rajastan, UP(W), HP If Tata and Ambani joins, they can't cover AP, TN, UP(E).. But if RGsm+Docomo+Aircel joined, they can cover PAN-INDIA.. Similarly with the help of Aircel, Ambani+Birla can also cover PAN-INDIA.. FEW OBSERVATIONS:- 1. Only IDEA has FULL-UttarPradesh (E&W) 3G coverage.. 2. Only Vodafone has 3G service in both Mumbai & Maharashtra.. 3. 3G providers in Kolkata, has also service in WestBengal, so Kolkata people need not worry.. 4. Vodafone means BUSINESS, very seriously.. They are the only one who covered all A & most B and NO C circles, almost.. If they were equally aggressive on C-s, then price of C circles also would have soared high.. 5. RGsm didn't care about south circles at all, which obviously, helped Aircel much.. 6. RGsm is the most lucky new operator, as they either got 3G spectrum in SMALL+DENSE circles (read Metros) or in circles where they already have 900MHz 2G spectrum (So that its 3G customers will get atleast 2G signals in non-3G areas) 7. THE BEST THING OF 3G AUCTION IS THAT, Airtel+Vodafone is NOT enough.. Either they need IDEA or Docomo to cover 21 out of 22 circles and S-Tel/Aircel for the last circle Orissa.. 8. RGsm can either join Docomo or Idea WITH Aircel to give PAN-INDIA service.. 9. Docomo needs help of RGsm + Aircel to ensure FULL 3G roaming for its customers, else they have to join Airtel+Vodafone+STel to accomplish the same.. A. AIRCEL can NEVER be avoided by any group to give PAN-INDIA service, except by the BIG combination of Airtel+Vodafone+Idea/Docomo+STel.. B. People, FRET NOT.. Atleast RGsm or Docomo is present in almost all (19) circles (except AP, TN, UP_E, where atleast Aircel is present) ============================ Hope, this helps.. Thanks Friends...

Everything as I expected, except for my home circle TN... In TN, only Aircel, Voda and Airtel only... I expected Docomo here.. So for 3G data, I have no other way than using my existing BSNL number... For data services, I have to depend on Photon+ or BSNL EV-DO card.. I am NOT too excited about 3G from the beginning and so very little disappointments for me..
