  2. TATA CDMA Shutting Down?

Don't worry. It supports GSM & lte too, so it's not a bad purchase after all..Just imagine the condition of people who bought pure CDMA phones few weeks back. sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
  3. TATA CDMA Shutting Down?

Just got an update.. Its NOT closing in TN abruptly in 15th May. But they were told to stop giving CDMA connections now and encourage the customers to move to GSM using INP. Looks like Tata is testing the waters in the above said 3 circles first and then continue to shut down in all other circles (incl TN) later. This is just the beginning of END of Tata's CDMA journey.. I personally love them to be bought by BSNL (has 2.5MHz in almost all circles like Tata) and combine their both 2.5MHz to form 5MHz 4G spectrum per circle PAN India almost.. But it is NOT going to happen, as BSNL is busy digging their own grave...
  4. Not sure about RN3, but RJio volte is not working even in LYF water 1, for last two days almost all over India [tested in MP+CG, Mah, TN circles] and it started working today only [tested in Mah], AFAIK... sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
  5. AirDroid is the name of that app and it's free.sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
  6. 500 Min R2r Free Every Month....

Wrong. All prepaid plans lost and the new plan reset to 2p/sec calling rate as soon as FRC is done. Even on old CDMA sim the plan has been reset. RCDMA has screwed us all.. and royally.Very much expected from reliance...sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk

  11. Smartphones that will work on Reliance 4G

I think most sprint and USC phones support band 5 LTE [850MHz], even though they may or may not support GSM. U can use Jio join to use those phones on Jio without issues, AFAIK... Sent from my LS-5002 using Tapatalk
  12. Smartphones that will work on Reliance 4G

If your parents have used Rcdma for voice clarity only, then please port out to some other network as Rcom 4G will use pathetic RGsm for voice calls. Else wait for jio and enjoy good voice clarity using volte, but no luck for feature phones AFAIK...sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
  13. LYF handsets are worth buying ONLY WITH JIO SIM + UL FREE Data.. If they said, chance to get sim, then avoid them, imho...
  14. TATA CDMA Shutting Down?

Friends, today I received a call from Tata people that, TATA is going to shut down CDMA services in TN circle in coming days and going to use the spectrum for 3G (????) services.. Will update here, once I get more infos.. But I am NOT 100% sure about the fact in their claims.. Anybody who is using TN Postpaid CDMA (voice) connections in TATA got such news?? Please share here..
  15. Reliance CDMA Shutting down

BSNL has been wasting CDMA spectrum from the beginning and their EVDO coverage is very very very limited, even though the sub-1GHz frequency is used.. Some 2.5 years back, when they are closing their WiMax services, I got their RUIM (for the UL EVDO @ Rs999 plan) and tested in my Samsung Galaxy someOtherSh!ttyQVGA_Android handset, that cost a bomb. There is NO EVDO signal even in my third floor or even in terrace. But their tower is visible from my room there or simply there is no Line of Sight issues. For comparision sake, TATA covered whole of our big town Sivakasi + near by small town Thiruthangal + more than half a dozen villages by using JUST 2 TOWERS.. It is better to port to some other operator or even lose our number than banging our heads over BSNL staffs, especially wrt their CDMA services.. Even friendly BSNL staffs (at least to me) in my town has almost NIL knowledge about CDMA services.. Reg TATA, at least in TN, I got a call today that, they are going to switch off CDMA services in whole of TN from May15. I got two TATA CDMA postpaid numbers on Feb 2016.. On further enquiry, they said, TATA is going to launch 3G in TN (Tata has NO 3G in TN till now) after shutting their CDMA services, may be narrow band 3G (using just 2.5MHz) on band 5 (850MHz). I have asked my relative, who was once a dealer for Tata, confirmed this, but still I have doubt and please take this info with a pinch of salt.. I will add more info, when I get confirmed news.. Right now I am in MP+CG circle (where TATA has 3Gsm license), but there is NO news about TATA closing their CDMA services here. May be they are first focusing on circles where they don't have their own 3G services.. Launching NB 3G services (which includes voice services naturally) on 850MHz (like AT&T in USA) is better than launching NarrowBand 4G on same and using their sh!tty 2G coverage (on 1800MHz) for voice fallback. Reason is their 2Gsm coverage will be much much smaller than 850MHz coverage for sure.. But only thing is, BSNL has license till 2020 and mostly 2.5MHz spectrum only (except Kerala and AP, where it has 3.75MHz)..
  16. Honor Holly 2 Plus CDMA Dual SIM

That's a way to continue CDMA services on same tariff, till they close them. But they are going to close CDMA one day for sure. So you have to do FRC before that day [before starting of 4G services or activation] to avoid losing your number. So this risk is worth taking on some secondary number only, IMHO. sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
  17. Reliance CDMA Network Upgrade To 4G LTE

Yes VoLTE is a great solution (and that too in 850MHz only).. But RGSM as voice fallback is like falling on HELL, imho...
  18. Reliance CDMA Network Upgrade To 4G LTE

Yes. But there are so so so many people who are used to great voice clarity of CDMA. I feel sorry for them, as they are now going to use RGsm for voice [emoji33] [emoji85] [emoji40] [emoji15] sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
  19. Android Updates For Your Phone

I will check that and report here later... Edit: No, volte is not working in vibe P1 even after MM update..
  20. Reason being, earlier MTS network was used just by MTS data card customers. Now it has to bear the extra burden of Rcom data card customers also. Hence the degradation in network of MTS data network. sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
  21. TATA CDMA Shutting Down?

They are trying to sell them to some big operator, most probably Vodafone. This is evident from the fact that they have no GSM network in Delhi for voice fallback. Reg Mumbai, their 2.5MHz out of 6.25MHz is going to expire in 2018 itself. sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
  22. TATA CDMA Shutting Down?

Heard that Tata also has applied for liberalisation of its CDMA spectrum in two circles and trai is about to accept it. Those two circles are most probably Delhi and Mumbai, but not 100% sure. Apart from Tata and Rcom, Airtel and Vodafone also asked for liberalisation of 1800MHz spectrum in one circle each. No idea about which circle, they have applied though.. sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
  23. News Snippets

Haha. Hype machine of jio [LYF here] is as usual in full swing.. sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
  24. Android Updates For Your Phone

Got and applied the update few hours back. So far so good. Already snappy phone is much more snappier now. sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
  25. Smartphones that will work on Reliance 4G

Band 5 or 850MHz is earlier used for CDMA in India. It's almost wrong or misleading to call it as 800MHz. Now Indian operators are trying to use the band for 4G. It's very important for Rcom and RJio, as this spectrum is very suitable for providing good indoor coverage. Especially for RJio, to give good quality of voice calls using volte, sub 1GHz spectrum is a must. sent from my Lenovo Vibe P1 using Tapatalk
