Prepaid Matrix SIM available in Airport counters in Chennai, as told by my uncle... I don't know about other cities... Reg CHINA... LocalSIMs are available even in Airport (slightly costlier than shops in town)... I have used ChinaMobile (GSM)... Yes Incoming calls are chargeable, but NOT high, comp outgoing calls... Further I have noted one peculiar thing, the call is being charged right from the moment we pressed the green button (so including airtime).. The sales rep told me to dial some *xyz*number_to_dial to get charged less... In fact, this is what I guessed from his actions Reg. coverage, ChinaMobile is very very best, Full signal on China-GreatWall second stage as well as travelling in under-river canal of Shanghai... In both trips, I will give missed call to my home and they will call me from their prepaid number with some ISD booster...

Yes... There is one huge mistake... In RCdma-EVDO case, the 3000Rs plan gives 18GB for 6 months (earlier b4 TRAI's f-king MAX 3months STV validity policy)----> Rs500/month = 3GB EVDO.... This plan is much much better than AirHELL's 4G plan as 18GB in 40Mbps speed MELTS faster than 3GB of R-EVDO.... ================================================ Further all the data-limit before FUK FUP can be eaten in one day and then we can enjoy UNLIMITED 4G at 128kbps for the remaining 29 days.... HOOORAAHHH... We all have to thank AirHELL for blessing us with the speed post FUP as 128kbps and NOT 128kbph (kilo-bits-per-HOUR)... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- But one thing is beyond my understanding... Who the HELL this AirHELL is targeting for this FUK service??? Obviously NO AAM AADMI / Middle class people... Then? (a) To the filthy rich MPs to download and watch p0rn in Assembly??? NO---NO.... The data limit hurts... ( To the rich uncles and aunties (50+) for whom internet means IE browser and rediff site??? NO---NO.... 40Mbps / 3.6Mbps is over-kill for them... © To the busy business tycoons, for whom speed and always on connectivity is important AT ANY COST?? NO---NO.... Pretty BAD coverage (both indoor and outdoor/roaming) stops them, since they travel a lot... (d) To the spoiled kids who spends most time in facebook/twitter?? NO---NO.... They also visit a site called you-tube... Then who are all their target-audience???? ................................................................................... With Ex-AirHELL boy as CTO in RIL, I have lost hope (Guess why all those trailers with punch-dialogues [e-Medicine, e-Mantra, e-Education, e-Governance, e-TV_Programs, etc, etc] only and NO ACTION from RIL and RIL coming LATE TO THE PARTY???) on them too... My dream for good internet service with reasonable speed and affordable tariff in India, still and will remain a dream only... Number_ONE_KumbhaKarna BSNL provides sh!tty service (2G to 2KG---All are pain in LAKEIN {plz translate to English} ), Number_TWO_Kumbhakarna RIL was given sleeping tablets by a Tr0jan Horse, Axis of Evil are keen in robbery only, MTNL limited to Mumbai/Delhi only, FTTH is WTF....

^^^^^^ Please come away from WB and enquire about MTS, especially here in TN... They don't care about postpaid-corporate connections... Even they don't care about port-in customers... My friend who has ported from BSNL to MTS is worrying now... Now their EV-DO network in my town is very very bad (as bad as 1x of TataCDMA)... CC sux as bad as BSNL.... They don't accept that their network is bad and just say reinstall the MBlaze software and ALL WILL BE WELL and FULL EV-DO speed will be restored ... In MP-CG circle, still now they are just using TATA's network (past 2 years) for voice, let alone EV-DO... They are following the same stupid policies of Tata like not-accepting foreign handsets (MEID reg), only ultra cheap but no mid/high end handsets, switching off the remote 1x towers during night , etc... Their main focus seems to be data and data only and like RDB/inception (not sure about author) said earlier in TT (a must read to understand what I am trying to say ).... From what I have heard the circle head of WB/KOL is good and taking good care of issues and that good thing is absent in other circles... So MTS may get well soon due to its russian govt background, etc, etc... But they can't win people's heart in other circles like in WB/KOL and they are just another NEW operator like say, videocon in CDMA segment (that is another poor-man's second SIM's operator).... @Avishek, cheap EV-DO is not the only reason... Try getting a corp postpaid connection from them (NOT in WB/KOL) and even our forum member Senthil (ursmv) tried his best (his brother is MTS prepaid dealer in Trichy) with NO FRUIT.... That is why I am saying, "IF THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US, THEN WE TOO DON'T CARE ABOUT THEM"....

EV-DO on existing spectrum is OK and NOT as bad as ICRA-3G spectrum, imho.... But still I have no sympathy for the CDMA players due to their greediness (high tariff + LOCKED modems [esp TATA] )...

Jokes apart, in TN atleast, Idea stopped selling netsetters with 3G here (or atleast in my town)... They are just selling off their limited stocks and NO NEW stocks (netsetters) are coming... May be because Idea is less EVIL than AirHELL or due to 2G license cancellation fear of Idea (2G spectrum re-allocation by auction) in TN...
